Chapter 103: Now This Is a Fight!
There was not a single person on stage or within the audience who wasn't interested in the fight that was going to take place.
Ken was against one of the strongest opponents within Adam's batch that was strategically put there to measure Ken's true power.
And to be completely real, even Ken wasn't entirely sure of his victory at the moment.
This was someone who could very well become a core disciple any time he wanted; thus, winning or losing wasn't guaranteed.
Still, to say he wouldn't put up a good fight would be a lie.
Ken's techniques and tools could make him a tricky opponent against even early-stage foundation establishment experts, assuming they weren't over a hundred years old.
As that implied, he still had some advantages over them when it came to physical strength and techniques.
But once they started opening their eyes and festering in that realm as well as reaching high masteries of their techniques, he'd be dead before he summoned his weapon.
Thankfully, that wasn't the case here.
"Are you ready?" This time, the elder master addressed Ken thoughtfully, and Ken nodded.
Then he looked forward at his opponent, with short white hair, a very large cold smile, and calculating fox eyes.
This was a tricky opponent who definitely knew how to use his brain.
Summoning his weapon, only those with very keen senses could see Ken's very sharp and shiny strings, which were floating around his arms.
'A xian liansuo... a very interesting choice for you, Ken. Very interesting.' The elder master, noticing Ken's weapon for the first time, couldn't help but squint his eyes.
Then, directing his attention towards the opponent, he thought to himself that it was finally time to gauge Ken's ability and if it was a good idea to make him go through the devil's gate to challenge the title of Demon Nemesis or not.
A fight can unveil many secrets about the fighter, and thus, even though he was sure, he wanted to have Ken go through such a challenge when he wasn't only ready in terms of techniques and achievements but also mentality.
Sure, he was well-mannered and had amazing self-control, but... it never hurts to be extra safe, not to mention he wanted to study this young fellow more.
'I've never thought anyone could leave such an impression on my heart when I'm this old.' The elder master smiled and opened his mouth to announce the start of the battle.
His eyes focused on every tiny movement around the arena as his thoughts trailed.
Sometimes, when people go through many experiences in life and everything turns bland, colors become more valuable than gold.
And Ken, who was starting to hold a position as large as that of a son in the elder's heart and filling that blandness he had been consumed by for years... would surely become someone he held as deep in his heart as Elder Aristo held Sara.
-----------
Shawn, a former top 10 who was one of Adam's former teammates, found himself up against this generation's strongest genius.
A man who had done what they could not and took care of a devil when he was in a realm they didn't even dare think of taking such missions to.
From the day he heard of Ken taking this mission and coming back alive, then learning that he had succeeded, sleep couldn't reach his mind.
He asked Adam, he asked around, and he observed Ken from afar. He wanted to know what was different about this young man—just what was it that made him able to do the impossible?
Sure, an incubus wasn't a warrior devil, but in certain cases, and more often than not, the latter was more dangerous than the former.
But now, he had a chance; he had a chance to have the best conversation possible with this young man, and it was a fight.
"Let the match start." Once these words were heard, the man raised his hand and called out.
"Restraining Order." A move that was used against all creatures to paralyze them and stop them from moving.
Depending on their physical strength or resistance against such techniques, they could easily escape from it.
And another way to escape was...
A higher comprehension of the technique than the caster.
"Cancel." Ken called out calmly, and the golden hymn and streaks of restraint, which planned to keep him in place but dared not approach him, disappeared.
Ken then looked at Shawn with a thoughtful expression, then called out in his turn before the man tapped his leg and launched himself towards Ken.
"Restraining Order." With these words spoken, as if the entire world was paralyzed for a second, a golden brilliance shone before Shawn was restrained in his place.
His form was awkward as he was on the verge of attacking Ken with his scythe, but now, he was like a scapegoat.
Ken wasn't planning on playing this game, but now, in front of the entire shocked audience, he was going to toy with this senior.
*Boom* *Fwshhh*
Shawn struggled to restrain himself, chanting a reversed mantra to cancel out the skill, but to no avail.
By the time he would cancel it, it would already be too late.
At Ken's level, if he didn't wish for it, as long as the enemy wasn't stronger than him and had no comprehension of the technique or resistance, they could remain restrained for as long as spiritual energy existed on this world.
And in a flash, the elder master watched as Ken wrapped his strings around Shawn's entire figure.
"Transform." His xian liansuo transformed into chains before the spectators could even step away from their initial awe at the spectacle caused by Ken's chanting of the restraining order.
From disciple to elder, they couldn't even understand the level of comprehension or mastery Ken needed to have to cause the world to pause with a word and for their entire being to feel shackled for a second.
Then, in front of all eyes, chains appeared around Shawn's body, and a magnificent scene was there for all to see.
In barely a dozen seconds, a senior who decided to play a bad move against Ken...
Was restrained in the air by chains of utmost glory.
And Ken, the victor of this fight, stood like an ancient pillar whose secrets couldn't be uncovered and whose mystery only deepened.
