Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 753 Warning

Things calmed down on the human kingdom for the next few weeks, even though Isa told Rain to keep his guard up, nothing happened. People began to use more potions on the crystals to have more room to walk around their cities and towns and to work as well. Stay updated through My Virtual Library Empire

While Rain was still trying to learn how to make a crystal that could absorb mana, he had a few ideas that improved the situation further. The first one was to create smaller crystals that would be enough to create barriers that would be big enough to protect carriages and wagons, thanks to it, people were able to move between the cities while relying only on their mana.

As long as the trip wasn't longer than one day.

The horses had a problem with the weather though, since they couldn't see that far ahead, but eventually they got used to it.

The second solution that Rain came up with was to make accessories that would make people recover their mana faster. Rain called them Meditation Rings and they could calm people's minds and put them in a state of meditation. Rain tried to make the Meditation Mastery rings, but normal people couldn't use them without getting unconscious.

Anyone could meditate, but only those who could use Meditation Mastery could use the improved version.

Regardless, Rain didn't give those around, he sold them, so he made a lot of money… it cost a lot of mana, though. Money that he used to buy potions and then Speed up his training…

"Maybe I should feel satisfied with this solution… can I afford to waste more time thinking about this?" Rain thought.

Two months had passed since Rain was able to create the wind barrier crystals… and he didn't take a single step forward to find the way to create the final prototype of the crystals. Although he had several of those rings and they made him able to produce more things, it didn't seem like he was making any real progress in the fields that he wanted.

In any case, while Rain was checking the sky and the areas below to see if the dust storm had lost power, he confirmed that things were the same as usual…

Rain recalled that something similar happened to Earth… it was the extinction of dinosaurs. The extinction of dinosaurs occurred approximately 66 million years ago on Earth. This event marked the demise of not only dinosaurs but also many other life forms.

Several theories exist regarding the cause of this mass extinction, with one of the most widely accepted explanations being a catastrophic asteroid impact.

The impact hypothesis suggested that a massive asteroid struck the Earth near what is now the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico. The impact resulted in a colossal release of energy, causing widespread devastation. This catastrophic event generated immense tsunamis, triggered massive wildfires, and led to a global cloud of dust and debris that blotted out sunlight.

The subsequent impact winter caused a significant drop in temperatures worldwide, leading to drastic changes in climate and severely disrupting ecosystems. As a result of these catastrophic environmental changes, an estimated 75% of species on Earth, including the non-avian dinosaurs, went extinct during this period.

It was a devastating event that profoundly altered the course of evolution and paved the way for the rise of mammals and eventually the emergence of modern species…

"The tremor lased for half a day, but it wasn't that intense… so it wasn't a meteor that fell," Rain thought. "Still, I have the feeling that we might experience similar things… me and my pessimism…"

In any case, Rain changed his mood when he returned home since he had to train his kids. Things were the same as usual with Annie, but it looked like Danny changed his way of thinking. While he would still lose most of the time, he didn't let that bother him that much anymore.

"Papa, why can't we use magic while sparring?" Annie asked. "It will be more fun that way."

"This isn't about fun," Rain furrowed his eyebrows. "I will let you use it when you make me realize that you are wise enough to do so without making mistakes. A single mistake and either of you could end up heavily injured. Besides, you are still newbies, the basics are enough for you… I suppose we can think of changing that if you are able to hit me even once."

Rain sat down on the ground and signalled to his kids to come at him… naturally, they hesitated. Even without his gear, Danny and Annie saw Rain training daily and his training methods were nothing if not insane… they tried to grab the weights that he let on the ground once and they didn't make it move a single centimeter.

Either way, Annie didn't think about that for long… she eventually charged and then tried to punch Rain, but an invisible barrier stopped her fist half a meter away from him. Annie looked at her hands confused since she didn't feel any pain, even though she certainly hit something.

Before long, Danny and Annie tried together to hit Rain, but it was useless, the so called Perfect Block was something that those much weaker than Rain couldn't do a thing. Rain only blocking their kicks and punches with a single finger, that was why they couldn't sense anything.

That was quite fun… but Rain felt troubled when he realized that his kids were trying really hard to hit him… they weren't holding back at all.

"Maybe they don't like me that much…" Rain thought while showing a troubled expression.

While seeing his kids working that hard… Rain suddenly realized something. Perhaps in the future, he won't be able to help them that much when it comes to training and in order to prepare for such a thing, he had to pass to them everything that he knew… it was a foreboding thought to have at such a time… but it was better to prevent than remedy.
