Infinite Magus

Chapter 18: — Passing Mists

When the king overlooked it. The corpse of the great star eater, a gigantic dragon with the shape of a serpent, and the power of a god. Slain by a wyrm that cheated every natural order. He saw the corpse, splayed out over the mountains. Visible to everyone from everywhere, as it started to fade into dust. He thought. And he was saddened.

"The blessed land has no guardian deity, therefore it will fade. And it will be forgotten."

The king outstretched his hand towards the land. And towards that he hoped. The twin sons that were about to be born from his wife. That they would, protect that land. The land that soon would be claimed by darkness. Yet, if he looked at that land today, would he be disappointed in his son? Would he be disappointed in himself?

The king made his way down to the corpse of the great dread, Bahamut. The wyrm that swallows all. He could feel its life force already start to renew. He outstretched his hand and chained its soul to his blood. Hoping as long as his bloodline and his echo lived. The dread would not be released.

"The age of magic has ended. Let a new age usher in. The age of the sword."

The age of the sword ended only 200 years after the kings death. His two sons carrying the era. Until one of the sons passed. Then a new age of magic was renewed, even with the arcane circle dead. Both of the kings sons believed in different things. One was a brutal wielded of the sword, and the other used a combination of magic and sword arts. And was regarded as a saint.

Now we return, to present day.

Clay awoke on the cold floor, only about an hour after his little scuffle. He remembered what he did. But he didn't exactly remember how. The star on his hand was steaming. And his body felt like it was on fire. He couldn't move. But he still spotted the person standing over him. He was all too familiar with the only person with scarlet red hair in the school. But he couldn't speak. And Nora spoke as she stood above him.

"Now…what could you have possibly done to overload your mana in such a place…"

His vision faded again. Filled with empty dreams of a king long forgotten.
