Chapter 131: Von Agres Family (1)
Minutes turned into hours, hours turned into days, and days turned into a week.
It had been exactly a week since the brief announcement, which also meant there were only two days left before Arthur's departure to Apex, Central's higher institution.
"Doesn't this look odd?"
Arthur's question was directed at Isabella, who was in front of him adjusting his noble suit.
She stepped back as if to assess him properly. "Really..." She exclaimed. "You're truly stunning beyond belief."
Arthur glanced away, a faint flush coloring his cheeks. "Well, thank you."
Isa wrapped her arm around his neck. "It's just a dinner with our family, so no need to get nervous."
Arthur nodded. "Yeah, but I've got to look the part."
He then smiled. "And you look lovely too."
Isabella took a step back and twirled in her black ball gown. "Right?"
Arthur tilted his head slightly, exhaling quietly.
As if on cue, the door of his dorm room opened, and behind it stood seven figures, all dressed in formal ball attire.
Amelia wore a red ball gown, Nathira a refined beaded black gown, Cassie's was a pink dotted kimono, and Sylvia wore a blue ball gown that made her resemble his childhood cartoon princess crush.
Elizabeth was still trying to get comfortable in her orange gown, while Eira wore a simple green gown popular among the elves.
And behind the entire group, standing where Arthur could admire her best, was Ellie, dressed in a flowing lilac gown fit for royalty, with a purple butterfly perched on her head.
Arthur averted his gaze, his hand covering his mouth. "You're all too beautiful," he said with a flushed face.
The girls all blushed at his compliment.
He glanced at them once more and stepped forward.
Sylvia was the first to run up to him, clinging to him like he might vanish. "Husband, I missed you."
Arthur patted her head. "As the goddess, shouldn't you be giving me blessings?"
Sylvia chuckled lightly but was soon pushed aside by Elizabeth. "Move."
She embraced Arthur even tighter. "Idiot, you didn't even call."
Eira nodded as she joined in from behind, hugging him. "Yeah, you should have called us."
Arthur nodded as the two squeezed him from front and back. "Sorry."
The two girls finally released him.
Amelia, Cassie, Ellie, and Isabella had been with him all week, so they didn't want to spoil the fun for the others.
Arthur lifted his gaze to Nathira, who leaned on the doorframe, pouting.
He walked over and patted her head. "Hey…"
She wanted to ignore his words, but the moment she felt his touch, she stepped closer and buried her face in his chest. "I'm your first wife, so I should get the first hugs."
Arthur smiled, gently patting her head. "Okay, my Missus."
She chuckled softly before letting go.
Arthur straightened his sleeve. "So, where are we meeting them?"
Amelia shook her head. "They didn't tell any of us."
Ellie backed her up. "Yeah, all we can do is get in the carriage."
Cassie closed her eyes for a brief moment. "Seems like it's here."
Arthur nodded and turned toward the stairs. "Let's go for a ball, Val Arcain family."
The girls followed him as they descended the stairs and reached the carriage on the ground floor.
It was incredibly large and luxurious, with an insignia etched onto it.
Arthur glanced at Elizabeth, who simply nodded.
'Seems the royal family wants to get closer to Elizabeth again.'
His gaze darkened. 'If they think they can abandon her and pick her up whenever they feel like it, I'll make them pay.'
As if sensing his anger, Nathira placed a hand on his shoulder. "Don't get agitated."
"Yeah," all his wives chorused.
He turned slightly to see their smiling faces, which made him smile too.
After a deep breath, he opened the carriage door and gave a small bow. "Ladies first."
The girls smiled warmly but none moved.
Arthur raised his gaze, tilting his head slightly. "What?"
They shook their heads.
After a moment, Ellie asked, "So where are you sitting?"
"Huh?" He was momentarily confused, then chuckled. "Do you all want to sit next to me?"
He smirked. "Cute."
All their faces turned crimson.
Satisfied with their reactions, he continued. "I'll stay with the coachman."
Ellie clicked her tongue, her face still red, then climbed into the carriage, followed by Eira, who was trying to calm her down.
Not long after, the rest entered, and he shut the door before leaning toward where the coachman was holding the horses' reins.
"Good evening, sir."
The old man looked at him and nodded. "Good day, young man."
Arthur sat beside him, paused, and asked, "So what's the emperor of the human domain doing here?"
The old man raised his brows. "Why would you think that?"
What Arthur said wasn't a guess.
No, he didn't need to guess. Even if most of his Supreme abilities were restricted, he was still undoubtedly a Supreme.
That meant all forms of deception were useless against him.
He smirked and locked eyes with the emperor, his eyes glowing faintly. "Do you really want to know?"
The emperor, seeing this, flinched back, his silver eyes glowing as well. "Brat."
Arthur deactivated his 'Colour' circulation, his eyes returning to normal, and sighed. "So why the disguise?"
The emperor flicked the reins, prompting the four horses, lined two by two, to start moving. "I wanted to meet the man who brought Lisa out of her shell."
Arthur's gaze drifted to the empty night sky. "No moon, huh?"
The emperor turned to him, puzzled. "What?"
Arthur didn't respond.
As a player, he knew a bit about the emperor, Leonardo Von Agres.
One of the things people knew him for was being the man who followed the rules.
Leonardo was trained in a way that he never disobeyed the empire's laws.
To begin with, Leonardo wasn't always known as the firstborn among the royal siblings.
But something happened that changed their family's entire dynamic, the same event that made Love leave the family and Janet run away with Reynold.
It was the story of the King of Rules, Leonardo Von Agres.
