Chapter 130: Brief Announcement (3)
Lysandra continued with a brief greeting to the students, offering a few encouraging words.
Vicky, who sat next to Arthur, narrowed his eyes. "Guys..." he whispered, causing both Eric, who sat on his other side, Naza, who sat in front of him, and Cale, who sat in front of Arthur, to turn.
His eyes narrowed even further. "Is it just me, or is the dean hot?"
Cale stared at him blankly. "What the hell are you even saying now?"
Eric rubbed his chin. "Yeah, she is really hot."
Vicky swallowed hard. "So you think I will—"
Arthur quickly cut him off, gesturing like a basketball referee stopping a match. "Time out, man."
The group turned their gazes to him.
After he saw everyone's eyes on him, he continued. "You can't do that."
Vicky raised an eyebrow. "Do you think I'll fail?"
Arthur grinned. "You know..." He tapped Vicky on the chest. "You know..."
Vicky paused, confused, then, as if suddenly understanding what he meant, snapped, grabbed Arthur by the collar, and yelled, not caring that they were in an auditorium.
"You bastard!"
Every student's eyes turned to them, even Lysandra and the student council president glanced their way.
Vicky glanced around, released Arthur, and cleared his throat. "I'm sorry."
Cale and Eric barely held back their grins.
"Wow, I never knew you liked attention that much, Vicky," Eric teased.
Vicky sighed, muttering under his breath. "Blame this bastard."
He clicked his tongue quietly. "Always picking up any girl who's remotely pretty."
Arthur's grin broadened. "Hey, Vicky, I heard your mom is hot."
Vicky's gaze snapped to him. "Bast—"
Arthur pointed toward Lysandra, who was staring at him, then looked back. "Just you wait. When we're out of here, I'll kick your ass."
Arthur chuckled, then turned to Lysandra and offered a gentle smile, which made her blush.
Cale immediately turned back to Arthur.
He had the sharpest eyes in the entire academy, so there was no way he wouldn't notice it.
He rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Crazy. You're really crazy."
Lysandra cleared her throat. "Okay, enough of the ruckus."
The students, who were still giggling from Arthur's group's antics, went silent.
After a long pause, she addressed them again:
"As you may all know, the academy has a higher institution."
Immediately, murmurs rippled through the room:
"What does the higher institution have to do with us?"
"Yeah, we aren't third years yet."
Lysandra raised her hand, silencing the noise. "I know some of you might be confused, so let me explain."
She raised a finger. "Central is a place of learning, and the higher institution, as you all know, is an extension of that knowledge. So, what do you think will happen when someone possesses more knowledge than the first?"
She smiled softly. "It is our job to send them to a place of higher learning, and after watching you students every day, I realized that some of you have long surpassed this place. Because of that, your skills are rotting instead of being refined."
The students began nodding in agreement.
Many of them had also felt like there was nothing left to learn at the academy.
Vicky, on the other hand, wasn't buying it. 'This bastard asked his sugar mommy for a ticket to the higher institution.'
He turned and glared at Arthur.
Lysandra nodded at the students' approval. "That is why we will be hosting a test here and now, a test that will select those worthy of entering the higher institution."
With a clap of her hands, a man walked out from backstage.
No, the man couldn't even be considered a man, since he was so small.
He looked more like an adorable child dressed in the clothes of a badger.
The boy, who appeared barely twelve, smiled warmly as he stood on the stage.
But there was one thing that told everyone he wasn't a child.
His aura.
Because the moment he entered the room, an unseen force pressed down on all the students.
'He has bloodlust?' Arthur mused, his gaze darkening.
The man's eyes swept through the room, taking in those who could still breathe, those who couldn't even stand, and those holding themselves upright through gritted teeth.
And then there was Arthur.
The moment he locked eyes with him, he froze.
The boy wasn't reacting, as if his aura was nothing more than child's play.
His smile twitched before morphing into a maddened, excited grin. 'I want him.'
Without even caring about the others, he tripled his bloodlust and force, but still nothing.
He increased it again, this time to fivefold, still no reaction.
Arthur, for his part, didn't even realize what the man was doing.
'Why is he suddenly glaring at me?'
His gaze had been locked on the dean from the start, so as not to seem rude.
Because of this, he hadn't noticed the state the other students were in.
The man's face twitched, but before he could increase his force from tenfold to twenty, Lysandra tapped him on the shoulder.
As soon as she did, he snapped back to reality, only to see almost every student unconscious.
"Heh-heh-heh..." He laughed awkwardly. "It seems I got carried away."
Then he smiled. "But..."
Nine students. Nine students were still conscious.
Four out of the nine were sitting straight, another two were slightly bent in posture, while the remaining three were on their knees but still awake.
Seeing this, he announced, "This will be all."
Lysandra nodded. The only reason she even wanted this selection was to fulfill her master's wishes and be praised. As long as he and his wives passed, she didn't care.
The man-child pointed at Arthur. "You, I can't wait to see you at my side of the academy."
He stretched out his arm. "I am Corveth Von Ashwraithe, and I shall be your dean from today onwards."
He smirked. "Now pay your respects."
Arthur didn't need anyone to introduce the man in front of him. Not only did he know him from the game, but his mother had also told him about him.
The man born of no race, Corveth Von Ashwraithe — heir of death and king of life.
One of the Immortals who had set foot in the realm of Demi-Gods.
A member of Humanity's Seven Stars, who was also counted among the Demon Kings and the Dragon King.
The man who held the title of Copycat before Arthur.
Corveth grinned. "Welcome to Central's Higher Institution, Apex."
