Chapter 116: Entering the Pyramid's 5th Floor

To be honest, it had been easy breezy for Cassius so far, with him coming out of each dangerous encounter without a scratch on him. This sort of invincibility lasted even when he entered another light door, ascended to the 3rd Floor, and encountered the next series of Demon monsters.

On the 1st Floor, there were only Demon Mummies, with the only difference between them being that some armed themselves with unusual weapons and others did not. The 2nd Floor, on the other hand, had the Tombcrawlers. Of the Tombcrawlers, there were unique variations, all of which specialized in different attributes and even special Skills that related to their attribute types.

However, on the 3rd Floor of the Oracle Sphinx's Pyramid, there were both Demon Mummies and the different Tombcrawler variations. Then there was also the new Demon monster type, which were mixtures between elephants and arachnids.

Namely, they were Stompspiders.

They were individually larger than a dozen of the massive Tombcrawlers, appeared from behind sudden secret chambers, and raged as soon as they saw Cassius. Furthermore, contrary to the rather simple differences between the Demons on the 1st and 2nd Floors, the Stompspiders not only varied in terms of size, color, and physical attributes, but they also differed in the elements they utilized. Some wielded ice and acid spells, whereas others spat fire, plasma balls, and lasers.

There were also a few of the rarer Stompspiders that were capable of shooting out strings of silk. They could use this silk to either capture or slow down their targets or harden it to zip forward.

Simply put, these types of Stompspiders were like freakishly large, creepy versions of Spider-Man.

A few minutes pass in the blink of an eye.

After decimating entire droves of Demon Mummies, Tombcrawlers, and Stompspiders, Cassius finally made it to the light door of this Floor. It went without saying that, after finishing the cleanup of the remaining Demons, his Demon King Bloodline rate had tremendously increased. In total, he entered the door with a new Demon King Bloodline rate of 36.5%.

By now, Cassius could definitely feel the changes occurring inside and outside his body. His appearance, for one, had gone from a roguish type of humanly beauty to something more evil and devilish. Which, rather than worsening his looks, did well in improving what was already there.

His eyes also turned a darker shade of red, his irises narrowed between slits and normal circular shapes. And to top things off, he grew a small pair of white fangs and sharp ears, both of which grew a little more the higher his Demon King Bloodline counter rose. However, this was most of all that had changed in just his facial features, completely excluding the few-inch-long blackened wings that had sprouted from his back and the gradual swirling of dark silver mixing into his natural jet-black hair.

Fortunately, Cassius was able to temporarily suppress and conceal this new demonic side of his. If not for that, it was highly likely that when he returned to the world of humans, he would be immediately seen as a threat to humanity. This eventuality would certainly lead to his… demise as a hunted monster.

For the remainder of this expedition's duration, though, he would let his body evolve however it wanted in real time, making sure to observe every single change. He would also keep track of the constant improvements being made to his attributes. Stats like Strength, Agility, and Endurance increased every time he absorbed a certain amount of Demon Essence. Moreover, these increases were in no way small.

If added to what he occasionally invested with AP and what he gained from wearing his Newbie Equipment Set, then he was looking at gains of more than 1000 Stat Points every hour. Of course, this was cumulative and would only last for as long as he had Demons to kill.

However, for right now, the grind was on, and he was here to grind it.

—The 4th Floor of the Oracle Sphinx's Pyramid—

Upon entering the 4th Floor, Cassius noticed yet another substantial shrink in the interior. If on the 1st Floor, a small country could comfortably fit itself inside, then now a large city would be stretching the limits of space.

Now, what did this mean if Demons the size of small towns were meandering about uninhibited?

Well, it was safe to say that, if not for the superb structural integrity of the Pyramid, it would have long since been obliterated by the fierce battles that Cassius was having with thousands of literal coffin Demons. They were all of the A+ Rank, had ancient coffins as the centers of their bodies, and took unusual scorpion shapes. Coincidentally, they were capable of shooting out ship-sized harpoon spikes from their curled-up tails, each one able to one-shot entire towns if shot outside.

With such limited space inside the Pyramid's 4th Floor, Cassius and the opposing army of Coffindemons, as well as the countless other types of Demons, were forced into a light show. By that, they were undoubtedly participating in an unfathomable AOE battle of spells and attacks. And when performed in such a tight space, it engulfed the entire area in a dazzling cacophony of death and destruction.

Ear-deafening explosions rang out too many times to count in the same second, creating separate bubbles of sound that occasionally popped and reached decibel levels unknown to man. Stay connected through empire

Six or so minutes later.

A total of 22 minutes had passed since Cassius entered the Oracle Sphinx's Pyramid, and the 4th Floor had been… successfully cleared.

A couple levels were gained, the 50% Demon King Bloodline milestone was exceeded, and now it was time to enter the 5th Floor.

*Tap, Tap, Tap.*

Cassius's soft footsteps echoed throughout a very bleak and empty area. All was shrouded by a thick layer of darkness, obscuring from view any who wished to see what lay within the 5th Floor of the Oracle Pyramid.

The moment he reached a certain distance away from the light beam that teleported him here, he saw a dim light appear a bit to the side. Following its appearance were many others just like it, all lining up in a straight and orderly fashion. There were two rows of them, one on each side of the extraordinarily wide hall.

Together, they brightened the place up to a degree where one could begin to make out the distant silhouette of a giant sleeping… snake head.
