In the Academy as Sukuna

Chapter 70: One's Love, Another's Hate

"They took everything from me, leaving nothing but my will to destroy."

.

(Yamazaki Complex)

The Yamazaki Complex was in tatters just from a single attack of Eva.

The whole mountain was covered in a thick sheet of ice which glowed brightly due to the sun's yellow rays.

It seemed beautiful... picturesque, almost.

However, amidst the peace of this beauty, a man was lying devastated, his heart burning in a grief deeper than any sea, and a hatred higher than any mountain.

In one of the houses near the boundary of the base of the mountain, the man sat on his knees, his skin painted red due to the extreme cold.

In his hands were the lifeless and limp bodies of his wife and his 2-year old daughter, their skin turning blue due to the freezing frost of the ice.

This man had a good life. Born as a lower member of the Yamazaki clan, he was never well-known, but was leading his life happily.

He married the woman he loved, and had a cute daughter that he put before his own life.

But there was one truth... he was nothing more than mediocre.

In this world, being mediocre means that the ones at the top have the right to do anything to you, no matter how vile.

He could feel the freezing cold of his family's bodies. A tear fell down his cheek, his weeping echoing in the small house he lived in.

The drop of tear fell to the floor, which was covered in small crystals of ice. Within seconds, the teardrop froze into a ball of ice, rolling away slowly.

A stream of tears would usually follow, but they didn't.

The man's eyes opened, his teeth grit and his expression morphing into one of pure hatred. The sky itself seemed to get darker, responding to the emotions of this worthless man.

He stood up, the bodies of his wife and daughter hitting the floor with silent thuds.

His body was shaking due to the cold, his nails going blue as he stared through the destroyed wall, his loud, unrestrained breathing ringing out like the horn starting battle.

"Whoever you may be..." He screamed out, his voice hoarse with emotion as he raised his trembling hand in the air, pointing to the huge cubical structure in the middle of the clan premises—where the head stayed.

Shockwaves rang out from the room, a huge battle clearly ensuing in it.

People ran away, their crying children in their hands. All around the place, there lay dozens of bodies, scarred, frozen, and lifeless, dead within seconds of the first attack.

But this man was unshaken, his resolve and desire for revenge overshadowing any sense of fear he had remaining in his mind.

But something was wrong... his eyes were twitching and darting around as if he was possessed.

HIs body trembled with an intensity which looked almost painful. He shut his eyes tightly, the pain almost unbearable, but the rage flowing through his veins gave him the courage he needs.

Slowly, his movements decreased and stopped, leaving the man standing alone in the ruins of the clan, his eyes closed and his breathing heavy.

He gradually opened his eyes, revealing a burning gaze, his sclera fully black, while his irises had turned a pure white.

"I, Yamazaki Kenzo, shall be the one to send you to to your grave!" He screamed out, his voice breaking slightly, ringing out throughout the clan premises, making heads turn to him from all directions.

With a final glance to his fallen wife and daughter, he shot towards the structure, his deep black eyes burning in a determination enough to shake mountains.

.

(A Little While Ago...)

Koru stood before Eva, his deep black eyes staring at her. It was as if she was the prey, and he the predator.

Eva's breathing was ragged, her charred skin slowly falling off her thigh and back, being replaced by a new, pure white layer of skin using healing magic.

Her shirt had a huge hole in the back, and was covering her body with a flimsy hold.

Even though her mind told her to run... to escape while she had the chance, her resolve to finish this once and for all, to remove anything from the path of love between her and Sukuna, she stood unmoving, ready to battle a dragon if it were to challenge her.

Looking at the deep black sclera of Koru's eyes, she couldn't help but get reminded of Ren's eyes, because of which he defeated even Sukuna.

She couldn't help but doubt herself... was she strong enough for this?

Her trembling hand curled up into a fist, her teeth grit tightly. Her will refused to give out.

She raised her hands, readying up a stance for her fight.

But before any of them could do anything, a loud, high-pitched voice rang out from behind them.

Chi had still not given up, even with a spike going through her body.

She shook Yasoshi's hand off her head, her body being covered in a bright orange glow. Her mana spiked unnaturally, and almost everyone immediately understood what she was doing.

Yasoshi, in panic, had no choice. His hand went to her chin, punching it so hard that her head seemed to turn painfully far.

Her mouth, though, continued to move. "Final Call..." She muttered, her voice getting lower and lower until she finally passed out from the punch.

Yasoshi had especially used mana to knock her out as quickly as possible, to stop her from using her Final Call.

The mana flaring from her body slowly calmed down, as if being sucked up back into her, and Yasoshi continued his ministrations on her.

Eva, however, was filled with rage. Killing this woman was something she had to do no matter what, and in her way was... Koru.

Koru was still, as if he was an unmoving, peaceful island in the middle of a raging sea.

With graceful movements, he shot towards Eva, not even making a single sound except for the whooshing of the air.

His speed, however, made Eva's eyes widen. It was faster than she could handle.

Her eyes were still blinking a light blue as she tried her best to dodge his attack, which she couldn't make out a kick or a punch.

She ducked to her right, creating a dense sheet of ice on her left side of the body to protect her from the attack, and coating her fist with ice to counterattack.

Within milliseconds, Koru was in front of her, his foot just inches away from her shoulder, his knee bent almost all the way.

However, before she could even make out what was happening, she felt something pierce her shoulder as the kick landed, Koru's knee extending with a force so much that it sent a sonic boom echoing through the room. It went through her ice protection easily.

She was thrown back, her head spinning as she felt blood pool around her shoulder, seeping into her shirt.

Her eyes caught sight of a huge spike of ice coming out from Koru's foot, going through his shoe, which impaled her in the shoulder.

While still in mid-air, she saw Koru, flying backwards with her, his hand curled up into a fist coming towards her chest at unbelievable speeds.

His eyes were focused, almost as if he was a robot, not a human. He hadn't said a single word either.

Done with being beat up, a guttural scream—a battle cry—escaped Eva's throat, her own fist, coated in tiny spikes of ice, flew towards his chest at the same time.

The cold air hit their bodies like powerful waves, but the adrenaline coursing through their veins was enough to make them forget about it.

Both of their punches landed in mid-air... they were still flying backwards, close to the wall of the room, where they were plummeting head-first.

Loud yelps reverberated in the room. Eva was pushed down to the floor, while Koru was pushed upwards.

Eva landed on the floor with a loud bang, the floor cracking due to the force.

Eva was dragged backwards thorough the cracking floor, the skin of her back being torn out by the shards until she finally hit the wall, her head making a huge dent in the wall as she felt a bone in her neck breaking.

Careful not to move, she started to heal the broken bone. If she moved wrongly, she could damage nerves and kill herself instantly.

Koru, by Eva's punch, was pushed upwards, the air hitting his back so hard that it felt like hitting a truck.

Within seconds, he hit the unimaginably high ceiling of the room, the impact breaking some of the bones in his body, and a few drops of blood shooting out of his mouth.

He started to fall back down, his vision slightly blurring as he noticed Eva getting back up, though a little groggily.

In about a second, he landed on the ground with a loud thud, cracking the floor where he landed on his two feet, his head rising to meet Eva's gaze.

However, he felt something... something was wrong.

Eva was smiling.

It wasn't a normal smile either, it was one of both triumph and mockery.

Suddenly, he felt his stomach churn, and before he knew it, he coughed up a huge amount of blood.

Then again, he coughed up blood a second time, which landed on the floor, adding to the pool already there.

It took him a few seconds, but he understood... Eva had put crystals, or shards, of ice inside him, and was doing something with them to damage him internally.

Closing his eyes, he worked relentlessly with his mana to isolate and destroy these crystals of ice circulating through his bloodstream, which took almost all of his focus.

She had done this during the punch, where she had coated her fist in a layer of ice, which was broken at impact and shards of ice went through his skin into his body.

In a few seconds, he opened his eyes, which were now back to normal... he had taken too much damage.

However, his eyes widened as he saw what was in front of him.

Eva's palm was mere inches from his face, covered in small spikes ready to pierce his skull at any time.

He panicked, and used any and all forms of magic he could to protect his face.

Eva's attack landed, the spikes of ice impaling into his skin like thick needles. His whole face was deformed as his head fell back, landing on the floor with a thud.

Eva pulled out the spikes, revealing the disgustingly vile state of Koru's face.

It had a huge amount of holes, the facial bones visible through them, which bled profusely, making blood pool on the floor under his head.

His body was twitching in pain, one of his eyes popped and bleeding freely. His other eye was fixed at Eva, glinting with both hatred and resolve.

Eva stood over the twitching body of Koru, a huge smile gracing her face as she looked down at him.

Her eyes were blinking with the light blue light even quicker, as if she was about to awaken something that must be kept hidden.

However, she suddenly felt something on her chest. Looking down, she saw something which made her eyes widen in shock.

A sword... a sword was impaled through her chest.

Her head turned back, only to reveal the face of a man that made her feel both fearful and excited.

Yamazaki Kenzo.

His deep black eyes promised Eva a difficult battle, and she would welcome it with open arms.

She made ice form in the place he had impaled her, fixing the sword in place and turning her body towards him with a jerk, breaking the blade into two pieces.

Her hand went to her chest, grabbing the shining blade of the sword with her bare hand. The blade cut her skin mercilessly, blood flowing down the sharp edge as she pulled it out from her body.

Deep red blood dripped down the tip of the sword as she held it in the air, the wound in her chest healing effortlessly.

They both stared at each other, Kenzo with hatred, and Eva with amusement. They were waiting... waiting for the other to go first.

.

(Meanwhile, in a faraway mansion...)

A man, quite an old one, was sitting in a chair in his office, the walls and ceiling adorned with extravagant paintings and designs that seemed worthy of being in a king's castle.

His dull, deep white hair flowed down his shoulders like ink on a sheet of paper. His long beard gave him the look of wisdom and experience.

In front of him was a laptop kept on his table, on its screen were many faces, some dark, some fair, some young, and some old, but one thing was the same in all of them—the excitement and anticipation on their faces.

"There will be no better time!" A loud, gravelly voice rang out. This was the head of the Gremlin clan, a clan quite well-known in the underworld.

His face on the screen moved around, the excitement clearly seen on his face, almost as if he was back in his youthful days.

"I agree, but only if we all come ourselves too." A comparatively calmer voice rang out. This was the head of the Kaboom clan, a clan infamous for its ruthlessness and vile method of actions.

The others immediately agreed, but the man in the office left the call, closing the flap of the laptop silently.

He was out of the deal.

"Father," a young voice rang out from the person sitting in front of him across the table.

The young man had short, glistening black hair, which slightly waved due to the light breeze of wind coming in through the ajar window.

"Why did you not accept?" He asked, leaning forward, his elbows resting on the table. His words were not meant at disapproval, but carried pure curiosity. "The Yamazaki clan is in tatters, and all the other clans are ready to come. If we fight, we may be able to win... Or are you scared?"

His playful words were met with silence. A tense silence that made his eyes go down to stare at the table. Maybe making a joke now wasn't the best idea.

But, he heard a sound, and his head rose, his eyes meeting the face of his father, who had his hand over his face and a huge, mocking smile on his face.

"It is not the clan I'm scared of," he said in his hoarse, almost scary voice.

His son rose an eyebrow, staying silent, urging him to continue.

"Yamazaki Shingen, just because he has been inactive, these fools think that they can face him," his smile only widened, but the son saw something which shocked him... his father's hand was trembling. "With his bloodline ability, one which turns his eyes black, he's unstoppable."

Pausing for a moment to gather his thoughts, he placed his hands back on the table, staring right into his son's eyes.

"When a lion stays in his den, he doesn't become a wolf... a lion is forever a lion," his voice went lower, almost frighteningly so. "And if one wakes this lion up, they will feel its wrath."

The son involuntarily gulped, leaning in closer, his eyes gleaming with curiosity. His father's words created more questions than answers. "And what about all those clans?"

With another chuckle, an almost sarcastic one, his father continued: "Their demise is assured."
