In the Academy as Sukuna

Chapter 69: Obsessed

"Love has a way of driving even the sanest into madness and the weakest into strength."

.

(The Narrator follows Shingen...)

The Yamazaki clan, a family known not too well in the world, but down in the waters where criminals roam free, this family is a symbol of power... and of fear.

Like for real man, when I first went to see Shingen I felt a chill run down my spine, and I'm the narrator for God's sake, or the author's, in this case.

Anyways, to continue, this clan holds such an enormous amount of power in the underworld that even thinking of going against them is something considered unreasonable.

The Yamazaki family was hidden inside a mountain, which had been hollowed out by the might of the first family head.

This mountain was in the outskirts of the Hunter Union, a place where the demon invasion was heavy and violent.

This clan, however, was unaffected. The strength of their weakest members was enough to rid of these demons immediately, coupled with their territorial advantage.

But now, this clan was in danger, attacked by a single woman who dared to defy the might of this clan... just for her love.

Eva Helion, the obsessed lover of a half-crazy tattooed boy, was walking towards the Yamazaki complex, her eyes burning with a fierce determination that rivaled Ryogaku himself, seriously, that boy has more 'determination' than Asta.

She stood at the base of the mountain, her hands trembling with resolve so intense that it seemed to shake the ground and turn the skies dark.

With a raise of her hand, she release the spell she had been casting for a while, her voice uncannily hoarse, as if she had been possessed by a creature unknown.

[World of Frosty Winter]

This spell was a lower quality [World of Eternal Winter], which is her ultimate move.

However, its effects are not to be underestimated at all.

Within seconds, the whole mountain was covered in a light blue, translucent ice... ice which she could control.

The Yamazaki members on the lookout were alerted, but before they had the time to even think of anything, the blood in their bodies froze, turning them into lifeless puppets that fell to the ground, dead.

The temperature of this ice was so close to absolute zero that even getting close to it would lead to instant death.

How did this situation come about? For that, we will have to visit the past...

(Some time ago...)

Shingen, the current head of the Yamazaki clan, was sitting on his designated chair menacingly, his aura spreading out like a dark candlelight.

In recent times, he had gone inactive in the affairs of the world, raising his children to be warriors and fighters worthy of carrying the name Yamazaki.

In front of him was his daughter, who looked like an ant in front of him. This man was twice the size of a normal person, more like a monster than any, and that is not metaphorical.

A little behind the girl were two boys, his sons, who were standing there calmly, their hands folded neatly behind them.

On the left was Yamazaki Koru, the eldest child and the most promising warrior of the clan, his talent, along with his seemingly calm and benevolent nature towards other Yamazaki, made him the center of attention wherever he went.

His eyes stared at his sister and father calmly, though they were glinting with a faint eerie light.

His short black hair fell backwards to his neck, glistening like they were never touched before.

His left hand was resting on his back, while his right was on the hilt of the sword fixed on his waist, which was a habit he had built—to always be on guard.

On the right was Yamazaki Yasushi, the second child. Although he couldn't get the title for the strongest warrior, he was famous nonetheless, for his healing capabilities.

He was born with a special ability of healing that could seemingly revive people no matter how close they were to death.

His black hair was slightly longer than Koru's, falling to his shoulders neatly, glistening with beads of sweat, as if he had just returned from casual training.

Both his hands were folded behind his back, his eyes fixed on the figure of his sister, smiling slightly as he saw her fidget with her fingers excitedly.

"Father," the girl spoke, her voice slightly shaking, though it was unclear whether it was from fear or excitement. "I... I like someone."

'Who are you again?' Shingen thought, but didn't say out loud, his eyes moving up and down her body. 'The fourth child... or the fifth? I have too many kids...'

He shifted on his chair, straightening his posture. In response, the three, too, immediately straightened up, their eyes growing warier.

"I see," he replied in his deep, uncannily perfect voice, which sent a chill down the three's spine. He didn't speak too frequently, and hearing his voice would be an honor for the lower members of the clan. "Who?"

The girl raised her head slightly, using all her courage to look into her father's eyes. "His name is... Ryomen Sukuna."

Shingen showed no reaction outwardly, but inside, he was deadpanning at her so intensely that her limbs would fall off.

'For real? Out of millions you chose the son of that fuck?' His thoughts went wild, his gaze fixed on his fourth... or fifth child.

"How did you meet him?" He asked, not able to hold in his curiosity any longer.

The girl smiled as if she was waiting for this question, taking a deep breath of air before starting. "We met in the academy, in the training grounds, and became friend immediately, like it was destiny! We talked so much about things like novels and stuff. It was the most fun I'd ever had, I believe he's the one for me!"

She went on for as long as her breath went, impressive.

'She really gave it her all, impressive,' Shingen thought, agreeing with me unknowingly. '...and she's delusional, for sure.'

"I see, can you tell me more?" Shingen asked. He had been quite bored, and if such a story quenches his loneliness, so be it.

The girl's smile widened. She thought that Shingen had a good impression of Sukuna, and was inclined towards agreeing with her.

"We talked for hours on end, and he even introduced me to some shows," the girl started, her thoughts wandering back to when she first met Sukuna, her heart nearly bursting out in excitement.

A blush colored her face as she remembered something. "He told me to watch Redo of Healer, and he was surely hinting at something... more."

Her lips curled up uncannily, almost unnaturally high.

Shingen's eyes slightly widened. 'That boy is weird as hell, though I've watched that show, so I'm not any better.' Shingen thought, his eyes fixed on the squirming girl as he continued his monologue.

'He's Eiji's son, so I should've expected that... Also, if this allows me to meet Eiji, then maybe asking for his hand in marriage isn't so bad. After all... this girl is pretty crazy over him... shit, I still don't know her name.' Shingen's thoughts were wandering a lot of places.

"Alright, you may leave," Shingen finally said after staring at her for a few seconds.

The three bowed and left immediately, leaving a heavy silence in the room.

(Present...)

As a result of that, Shingen never expected Sukuna's girlfriend to come straight for them, I mean, who'd want to just walk to their death?

"She has entered the main premises," Koru announced in the silent room where he was standing, beside him Yasoshi and the girl, along with Shingen's other children.

Shingen was behind them, sitting on his chair like always, dozing off. But from the outside, it looked like he was serious... almost angry.

'I made the request half in jest,' Shingen thought, his fingers rubbing his forehead lightly. 'I didn't expect Eiji to actually accept, and in return he sent this girl to fuck my family up.'

Yasoshi, seeing his father rub his forehead, took a step away from him, his eyes both wary and afraid. He believed that he was angry, after all, who wouldn't? A single girl was wrecking their family.

The sounds of faraway footsteps reached their ears. Eva was getting close to the room.

The location of the head and the girl was spilled out by a family member she had killed just a while ago, and she had wasted no time in getting here.

This place was a huge room right in the middle of the Yamazaki complex, where the head sat, and none but the most important members were allowed to enter.

A silence followed, an eerie, uncomfortable silence, as if the world itself had stopped in anticipation.

Suddenly, the door at the end of the room burst with a loud boom, echoing throughout the room like a demonic chorus. Parts of the broken metal door flew towards the group standing.

The flying bits, however, slowed down and came to a stop gently, falling to the ground with multiple clangs reverberating.

Koru, who had used wind magic to achieve this, lowered his raised hand, glaring at Eva cautiously, who was standing in the doorway.

Only her silhouette was visible, illuminated by the natural light from outside. Her muscles were tense, almost as if steam were coming out of her body.

Even from her shadow, one could sense the intensity of her gaze. She had come to kill, and she will kill.

Her eyes seemed to be glowing blue, merely looking at which made an instinctive reaction appear in everyone's minds... run.

'Oooohhh, she's one of them yanderes ain't she?' Shingen said mentally, his mouth slightly opening. He straightened up in his seat, eyeing Eva with interest.

Eiji had allowed her to be Sukuna's girlfriend, at least Shingen believed he had, so he must see something in her.

Shingen knew how much Eiji regarded strength. If he thought that Eva was weak, he would've turned her into paste without a second thought.

"Father," the girl spoke, her voice extremely high-pitched, almost making Eiji wince. "This is my fight... a fight for MY love, let me handle this insect!"

Shingen looked at her, sighing internally. "Just make her more angry..." Shingen muttered sarcastically, his eyes going to Eva.

Eva, after hearing those words, seemed to vibrate in anger, the glow in her eyes getting brighter, as if it was a flashlight.

Koru intervened. "Father, I don't think you should..." He made sure to put his views moderately, he didn't want to end up being crushed by Shingen. As per the rumors, this man was quite ruthless. "She's quite... strong."

'You really think I care about this nobody side-character lookin' girl I don't remember the name of?' Shingen said mentally, but decided to put it in more polite language. "She has chosen her own path, let her follow it like a true warrior."

Koru immediately shut up. This was the true method of the Yamazaki, they were meant to fight, and if his sister dies in a fight she chose, then it means that she died with honor.

'That sounded corny as hell,' Shingen winced inside, not caring as the girl shot forward towards Eva, balls of fire forming in her hands.

The ground under them vibrated. If it was normal floor, it would have cracked a long time ago, but it was made of specially created, mana-infused tiles.

Shingen dusted off the dust that had landed on him from the girl shooting off, turning to look at the intense battle taking place at the other side of the room.

On the other side of the room, a battle for love was taking place, Eva and this random girl were both equally determined to have Sukuna for themselves.

Meanwhile, Yasoshi was looking at the battle, excited to fight, but also scared of getting punted in the head.

He might just be the best healer alive, but his fighting capabilities were... not too high.

Speaking of that, where is Sukuna? Why does everyone that goes to the demon realm disappear for like 20 chapters?

Anyhow, the girl, let's call her... um... Chi.

Chi was in the air, her face morphed into an excited smile, one which would strike fear in the hearts of the bravest men with just a glance.

Eva, on the other hand, was stationary, standing on her place as if daring Chi to attack, her eyes glaring at her like prey.

Gracefully landing on her left foot, Chi pushed her right hand towards Eva, on her palm burning a ball of fire which threatened to burst at any time.

With a quick sidestep and parry, Eva pushed her hand to the side, ducking low.

Her hand curled up into a ball, a coating of ice forming on it as it went towards Chi's chest.

Chi's hand, which was deflected, passed Eva's head narrowly. Quickly, she opened it. The ball of fire slowly floated backwards, Chi was still controlling it.

In the few milliseconds that took for her fist to reach Chi's chest, Eva finely changed the shape of ice on her hand to tiny, sharp spikes aimed at producing the highest amount of pain possible.

Chi, too, hadn't given up, her left hand shooting straight towards Eva's leg, which was the best she could do now, she was moving too fast to aim it anywhere else.

Eva's punch hit Chi in the chest, a loud cracking of bones reverberating in the otherwise silent room. The spikes of ice pierced her skin like thin needles, making her want to scream her heart out, but she held it in, a muffled whimper escaping her lips.

At the same time, her fist hit Eva in the right thigh, the ball of fire contained in her palm bursting into life, covering Eva's whole leg in a torrent of bright orange fire, thought its center was slightly blue.

A small coating of ice had formed on Eva's leg. She had noticed the attack late, and she tried to defend as much as possible.

They both shot off in opposite directions, high-pitched yelps echoing in the room.

With a loud thud, Chi landed on her two feet, her breathing ragged as she felt the force of the punch in her organs, blood trickling down her lips.

Those bloody lips, however, were curled up in a smile, one of victory. "Gotcha."

The ball of fire she had released controllably was right behind Eva. As she went flying, her trajectory made her fly towards the violent fireball.

With a flick of her fingers, Chi released the restraint on the fireball, leaving it to explode in its full glory.

Eva's eyes widened. Her leg was already scorched, her pants completely burned, revealing her charred skin.

She tried to create a shield of ice between herself and the ball, but it was too late.

The ball exploded in a torrent of flames, a yelp escaping Eva's lips as she felt herself being pushed in the opposite direction, her shirt burning from the back, revealing her smooth skin, which was being charred by the violent flames.

Eva's vision went slightly blur, but she was far from done.

Tanking the explosion, she continued, her charred skin pricking her nerves like small needles all over her body.

But before she even knew what happened, she saw Chi running towards her again.

Her eyes, unbeknownst to her, started to glow a slight blue.

[Arena of Ice]

She casted a spell in panic, an aggressive attacking spell fueled with her hatred.

Ice started to form in all directions around her in spikes which cracked the ground open to form, and seemed to be unnaturally thick and dense.

On the other side of the room, Shingen's eyes slightly widened.

"Her mana control suddenly improved," he muttered, his eyes fixed on the seemingly frozen figure of Eva, her irises blinking a light blue.

Koru, who heard his father say something, moved close to hear him clearly.

"Koru," Shingen called, making him stand straight. "She will lose, and you'll go next."

Shingen, just from this battle, knew that Chi would lose... she was weak.

Koru was ecstatic. Being commanded to fight by the head himself, it was a great honor in the clan.

He never thought he'd say this, but he was excited for his sister to die.

"What's that now?" Chi mocked, but her laughter suddenly ceased as she felt something in her abdomen.

Her eyes fell down, and what she saw was.. red ice.

No... it was a spike of ice covered in her blood. She had been impaled by a spike of ice from the ground, right through her abdomen.

Raising her eyes slightly, she saw the smiling face of Eva, who seemed to be looking at her both in disdain and mockery.

This was something quite uncharacteristic to Eva, but love changes many.

Chi's eyes drooped down, and just before she lost consciousness, she was the face of Yasoshi, standing beside her, his hand placed on her head.

Meanwhile, Kori, excited for battle, was already standing in front of Eva, a huge smile on his face.

However, as soon as Eva's eyes met his, she gasped, her eyes widening to a degree she thought impossible.

Her jaw almost fell to the floor as she saw what his eyes looked like.

"Black... eyes?" She muttered. They were just like Ren's that day...
