Chapter 40: Chapter 39
Those who read the chapter yesterday in the first hour go re-read it then this will make sense.
Morin turned to Feitan. "Did you manage to extract anything about advanced techniques from that guy?"
"En, Ko, In..." Feitan listed them off casually, his hands tucked in his pockets.
"That guy did know about the use of advanced techniques, but he just fumbled around trying to figure out how to train them," Feitan remarked indifferently. "Nothing worth studying, in my opinion."
His tone implied that the addict's application of advanced nen techniques was laughably poor.
Morin had already guessed as much. Truly skilled nen users were resolute individuals; they wouldn't mess around with trivial vices, nor would they be reduced to working with small-time city operators.
"Well, we now have our identification documents and a decent grasp of nen basics," Chrollo said, his gaze shifting from the cup he had been studying.
"Not to mention, we've acquired plenty of funds. Let's spend some time in this city to explore and learn more about this world."
"Speaking of that, I bought a bunch of books," Morin said as he brought out the books he'd purchased from the local bookstore.
Chrollo's eyes lit up slightly. His thirst for knowledge and dedication to self-improvement were unmatched within the Phantom Troupe.
"I'm planning to head out and find a proper dagger," Feitan muttered, rubbing his fingertips absentmindedly.
Given his stature, it was evident he needed a weapon that suited him.
"I might as well get my sword reforged," Nobunaga said, stroking the scabbard of his blade.
"The outside world is full of wonders!" Uvogin grinned, clearly still itching for a fight after his encounter with the hook-nosed man.
"I plan to check out some casinos," Machi said with a faint sparkle in her usually calm eyes. "I hear it's the fastest way to make money."
"I'll stay here and work on honing my nen abilities," Franklin said with a good-natured smile.
Pakunoda shared the same thought and nodded slightly in agreement.
As for Chrollo, his nose was already buried in an open book, deeply engrossed.
As the leader of the Phantom Troupe, Chrollo usually kept at least two members by his side. With Franklin and Pakunoda staying behind, the group's arrangements were settled.
Morin also decided to explore the city.
Once the eight of them finalized their plans, they left the hideout one by one, stepping into the streets just as the sun began to rise in the east, casting light over the seemingly peaceful land.
Three days passed in a flash.
As Morin had expected, Feitan and Uvogin, the group's notorious troublemakers, had stirred up considerable chaos in the city.
Feitan, having spotted a finely crafted dagger in a weapon shop, had stolen it in broad daylight while no one was watching.
In his words, "If I want something, I take it. That's the way of a thief."
He stubbornly insisted his actions were theft, not robbery.
However, in the eyes of the public, his brazen behavior in broad daylight was indistinguishable from robbery.
Naturally, the people in the shop wouldn't tolerate such audacity. Armed with hammers and guns, they rallied the city to hunt him down.
They had never encountered someone so brazen before.
Feitan, being Feitan, wouldn't let such an insult slide. But faced with a large crowd, some wielding firearms, and only having recently awakened his nen abilities, he wasn't fully equipped to handle the situation. He relied on his aura to enhance his speed, retreating while fending them off.
When night fell and the mob finally dispersed, grumbling as they gave up the chase, the tables turned. It became Feitan's time to strike back.
Uvogin, meanwhile, caused his own brand of mayhem.
He marched into the city's most luxurious and prestigious restaurant, feasting to his heart's content. After gorging himself, he leaned back and dismissed the food with disdain, claiming, "Your dishes are just so-so. They're nothing compared to a meal my friend cooked on a tablecloth."
His obvious freeloading infuriated the restaurant staff, from the manager to the chefs, who all demanded the security guards apprehend him.
What followed hardly needed describing.
With his belly full and his fighting spirit ignited, Uvogin single-handedly beat down the guards, leaving the restaurant's grand hall in shambles.
Before the police could arrive, he slipped away, but not before his bounty poster began circulating throughout the city.
Machi's escapades were no less dramatic than Feitan's and Uvogin's.
With a bag full of cash provided by Morin, she headed to one of the city's most reputable casinos.
Upon entering, her petite figure, delicate features, and refined aura immediately drew attention.
During the games, Machi used nen to enhance her vision and hearing, easily spotting the dealer's cheating. Without hesitation, she called them out, which quickly enraged the casino's operators.
After all, a casino operating openly in a city wasn't run by ordinary people. Its backers were always powerful figures with vast influence.
Moreover, most of the casino's patrons were wealthy elites or high-ranking officials.
