Chapter 85: Chapter 85 - The Arrival of the Royal Guard!
Chapter 85 - The Arrival of the Royal Guard!
Yamamoto did not expect that the Royal Guard would come for Gilgamesh.
As he pondered this, his eyes narrowed slightly, but the tip of his Zanka no Tachi: Higashi - Kyokujitsujin continued to descend toward Gilgamesh.
Gilgamesh watched the blade coming at him with an unflappable expression, showing no intention of evading, as if confident that he would be unharmed.
Everyone present held their breath, their hearts in their throats. They had heard Ichibē's words but were too focused on Gilgamesh's fate to consider anything else.
Having just arrived, Ichibē clasped his hands together, then pushed his palms forward towards Yamamoto, saying, "Senri Tsūtenshō!"
In the next moment, a massive spiritual hand materialized beside Yamamoto and struck him, sending him flying just as the tip of his blade was about to touch Gilgamesh.
The name "Senri Tsūtenshō" came from its ability to strike its target a thousand miles away without discrimination.
Of course, there were exceptions, such as Yamamoto.
Everyone was stunned by this sudden turn of events and instinctively turned to look at Ichibē to see who Gilgamesh's 'ally' was.
Seeing Ichibē, the captains' expressions changed. At their level, they had access to information about the Royal Guard and immediately recognized the man who had attacked Yamamoto as a member of the Royal Guard.
The Royal Guard members were easily identifiable. Although their faces were unfamiliar, they wore Shihakushō and captain's haori, with the latter bearing the crest of the Royal Guard – the gardenia.
Suì-Fēng stood up despite her injuries, her expression sharp as she demanded, "I need an explanation. Even if you are from the Royal Guard, you cannot attack the Head Captain without reason!"
Ichibē's ever-present smile made him seem very approachable, but those who knew him were aware of his terrifying strength.
Unohana, Ginrei, and Sasakibe hesitated, wanting to speak but unsure what to say. After all, Suì-Fēng's demand was reasonable, but the person she addressed…
Aizen, on the other hand, felt a surge of excitement, hoping Suì-Fēng would push further and reveal some of the Royal Guard's secrets.
Ichibē turned his gaze to Suì-Fēng, his smile still in place. To her, it felt like looking into a sea of corpses, and her pupils trembled involuntarily.
Before she could react, a voice full of impatience came from behind her, "Why does he need a reason? The monk told Yamamoto to stop, but he didn't listen. What can you do?"
Suì-Fēng's pupils shrank as she turned to see Tenjirō Kirinji behind her, a look of disbelief on her face. She hadn't noticed when he moved there, though she had just seen him standing beside Ichibē. His Shunpo technique seemed to surpass even that of the former "Goddess of Flash," Yoruichi Shihōin.
Unohana Retsu sighed in relief, knowing that Kirinji's intervention might have prevented Ichibē from taking more severe action against Suì-Fēng. She also felt a pang of nostalgia, recalling how Kirinji had taught her healing techniques that led to her transformation from the first Kenpachi.
Ichibē, now focusing on Gilgamesh, smiled and said, "Gilgamesh, please come with us to the Soul King Palace."
"I will go to the Soul King Palace," Gilgamesh responded, looking in a particular direction, "but first, there's something I need to take care of."
Ichibē followed Gilgamesh's gaze and saw a figure wreathed in flames approaching rapidly. He recognized this as Yamamoto's Zanka no Tachi: Nishi - Zanjitsu Gokui, which cloaked him in flames as hot as 15 million degrees, making him appear like a sun.
Ichibē knew the danger of approaching Yamamoto in this state without adequate defenses.
'The strongest Shinigami in the past millennium,' he mused. Still, he felt no fear, confident he had many ways to counter Yamamoto. Indeed, Ichibē believed himself stronger, and the facts supported this.
Without hesitation, Ichibē drew his Zanpakutō, Ichimonji, ready to confront Yamamoto. He was angry because Yamamoto had ignored his command to stop. Thus, he was prepared to teach him a lesson.
Yamamoto had already reached Gilgamesh, his eyes briefly glancing at Ichibē before stabbing Ryūjin Jakka into the ground, intoning, "Zanka no Tachi: Minami - Kaka Jūmanokushi Daisōjin."
Immediately, the ashes of those Yamamoto had slain rose from the ground, forming an army of charred skeletons that attacked Gilgamesh.
Ichibē prepared to intervene, but Gilgamesh stopped him, saying, "This is my battle. I should be the one to finish it."
Frowning slightly, Ichibē was about to argue, but then saw Gilgamesh leap into the air.
Raising his Ea, Gilgamesh declared, "Yamamoto Genryūsai, feel the true power of Ea!"
