Chapter 23 - Enchanting Scenery

Time flew by, and a month passed quickly.

In Kuro no Machi, atop the newly built palace, Gilgamesh stood and addressed the assembled citizens outside the palace. He declared loudly, "In the name of Gilgamesh, I hereby declare the founding of this nation, Uruk, today!"

The citizens outside the palace erupted in cheers upon hearing Gilgamesh's proclamation. Amidst the jubilation, they shouted in unison.

"King!"

"Uruk!"

This night was destined to be sleepless for Uruk. Throughout the territories of Kusajishi and Takoyaki, cheers, shouts, and joyous cries echoed continuously. People began to sing and dance, celebrating the successful founding of Uruk and praising the greatness of Gilgamesh.

At this moment, everyone was smiling. Some people, however, suddenly found themselves crying while they laughed. Before Gilgamesh appeared, they were like walking corpses, living lives worse than death in a place intertwined with poverty, backwardness, chaos, and death.

They were like leaves drifting in the wind, with no direction, no hope, no support, and no home to return to. Their hearts had grown numb, covered by the icy despair of reality. In such a situation, Gilgamesh appeared like the sun in the sky, breaking the despair and melting the ice covering their hearts.

Their hearts began to beat again, filled with warmth. Hope, vitality, and smiles, which they had never dared to imagine, appeared one by one in their lives. The founding of the Kingdom of Uruk gave them a sense of belonging, a home they could finally call their own.

This feeling of finding a home deeply moved them. They knew they were no longer homeless souls from now on. Of course, they knew that all of this was thanks to Gilgamesh. They genuinely appreciated, respected, worshipped, and loved their king, Gilgamesh.

On this night, Renji and Rukia let loose completely, singing, dancing, and laughing with the people. Even the temporary construction talents from the Ōmaeda family couldn't help but join in the singing and dancing.

They had witnessed how Kusajishi and Takoyaki developed from nothing to their current state. They had also seen the changes in the people of Kusajishi and Takoyaki. This made them respect and admire Gilgamesh not only for his architectural talents.

It could be said that Gilgamesh's charisma had completely conquered them, making them want to stay more than once. However, they had their own ties, be it family, lovers, or friends. Therefore, they could only suppress their desire to stay. But now, they had put everything aside and were simply expressing their joy.

On the palace's terrace, Gilgamesh watched his singing and dancing citizens with great satisfaction. Beside him, Yoruichi Shihōin, in her black cat form, lay silently on the railing, watching the lively scene below with a look of pride and satisfaction.

Having submitted to Gilgamesh, Yoruichi was now genuinely pleased with his growing glory. Gilgamesh then moved to a stone table nearby and invited Yoruichi, saying, "Today is a day worth celebrating. Black Cat, will you join me for a drink?"

Yoruichi moved to sit opposite Gilgamesh, tilting her cat face upwards, "Sure, but I don't think we have any alcohol here. I don't remember any place in Kusajishi selling wine."

Gilgamesh smiled slightly, and a golden ripple appeared beside him. Yoruichi was familiar with the golden ripples summoned by Gilgamesh, thinking it was a Zanpakutō ability. However, she didn't understand what summoning the ripples had to do with drinking.

In her confusion, a wooden wine barrel exuding an ancient aura emerged from the golden ripple and slowly landed on the ground. Following the barrel, two exquisite golden wine cups also emerged and landed atop the barrel.

Yoruichi was stunned. Although the wine barrel was not yet opened, she could faintly smell a rich wine aroma. She knew that the barrel contained fine wine, the rarest in the world. Just a hint of its aroma made her mouth water, even though she had tasted countless fine wines.

While she didn't understand why a wine barrel would appear from the golden ripple, it no longer mattered. As Gilgamesh opened the sealed wine barrel, a rich, thick wine aroma filled the air. Just smelling it made Yoruichi feel slightly intoxicated, imagining how delicious the wine must be.

Looking at the wine cup Gilgamesh handed her, Yoruichi instinctively extended her paw, wanting to take a sip. However, she quickly realized that her paw couldn't hold the cup. Driven by her craving, Yoruichi didn't care anymore and dispelled her transformation.

As a puff of smoke rose, Gilgamesh saw a tall, graceful figure faintly visible within.

"Gulp!"

"Ah, what a great wine!"

Accompanied by a loud, carefree female voice, the smoke dissipated. Standing before Gilgamesh was a tall, graceful, slightly dark-skinned beauty with a ponytail, completely unclothed. This stunning woman was Yoruichi Shihōin. She held a wine cup in one hand, the other on her hip, legs apart, with a look of pure enjoyment on her face.

Due to her stance, Gilgamesh could see everything clearly. Yet, his expression didn't change, his deep crimson eyes showing appreciation as if admiring a fine piece of art. If not for his young age, Gilgamesh wouldn't have minded indulging in some pleasant activities.

There were only Gilgamesh and Yoruichi on the palace terrace, and the people outside the palace couldn't see what was happening. Seeing Yoruichi wanting another drink, Gilgamesh sipped his wine and said, "I think you should put on some clothes before having another drink."

His appreciative crimson eyes gazed at Yoruichi as he continued, "Of course, if you don't want to, I don't mind continuing to enjoy this enchanting scenery."

Yoruichi glanced down, following Gilgamesh's gaze. Instantly, her face flushed with embarrassment, her heart pounding. She used Shunpo to flee the scene, hearing Gilgamesh's joyful laughter behind her, making her heart race even more.

Yoruichi couldn't understand why she felt so flustered now when she had never cared about such things before. After Yoruichi left, Gilgamesh stood up, holding his wine cup, and moved to the railing of the terrace.

Watching the jubilant scene outside the palace, Gilgamesh raised his cup and took a sip, saying softly, "Now that Uruk is initially stabilized, it's about time to head to Shin'ō Academy."
