Imperial Spirits - Otherworldly Adventures

Chapter 13: Arrogant Wang Ma

"Sister Shui'er, your father seems to dote on you too much. Hey, my father, on the other hand, always beat me up without reason. You are too lucky, girl." Ding Wei, who was sitting next to three girls, said as he shook his head as fear of getting beaten showed on his face.

It's not false that he is the young master of the Ding Family and his father is the patriarch, yet as the youngest son, he never got the privilege of being hugged by his father.

Truth be told, he is now getting envious of Lin Shui'er.

Three girls (New trio—Ah, Ding Wei is kicked out of the team, hey…) looked at him as they rolled their eyes.

"Brother Ding, you shouldn't be saying that. I think you are fortunate to have a father, although he might be strict on you but for your own good." Lin Shui'er responded.

"Ding Wei, don't be so shameful; at least your father is not as strict as Jie Peng! Nor do you have a family like the Jie family. I'll tell your father that you talk bad behind his back" Jin Tao pinched Ding Wei's ear as she whispered in his ear.

Li Yanyan and Lin Shui'er looked at the two of them with odd eyes. Even Ding Wei's cousin Ding Shiyuan gave him a strange smirk.

Ding Wei felt dozens of eyes stabbing him virtually, which made his body cold and his forehead covered in beads of sweat.

It's unknown if he's worried about whether Jin Tao will tell his father about his cheap talk or if he is sweating because he felt dozens of pairs of eyes staring at him oddly without reservations.

Either way, because of their small act, the stiff atmosphere in the glass room broke, and students began to talk with each other; even the one with the worst results felt better unconsciously.

A few minutes later, two green lights lit up together, and rooms No. 12 and 09 opened simultaneously.

Two youths went out; one seemed to be barely able to stand, while the other one was striding vigorously.

"It's Wang Ma and Xu Tan!"

"Heh! See there, Xu Tan seems to be injured..."

"Indeed, he is barely keeping it up... What happened?"

"It seems like it went good for one and bad for the other."

"Well,...."

"....."

The students who were sitting inside the glass rooms couldn't help but mutter in low voices with each other.

Both of the students were top class, no matter their academic performance or in martial arts class.

At that moment, Xu Tan lowered his head and walked towards the waiting room with a despondent look.

Albeit he was trying his best to walk, yet due to his internal wounds, he could barely limp toward the waiting room.

One could see regret and unwillingness reflected in his eyes.

While Wang Ma, who was tall and well built, his face full of confidence and a smile, walked towards the glass room with a great attitude.

His confidence and smile seem to be different from Jie Peng's and Li Bao's.

Those two rather had gentlemanly and shameless vibes, respectively.

On the other hand, Wang Ma seems not only confident; even a trace of arrogance is discernibly visible on his face.

As he saw Xu Tan, who was having difficulty walking, he gave a contemptuous grin and looked toward the monitoring room.

Because a middle-aged man left the room and moved towards them.

What he didn't see was that the middle-aged man clearly saw his contemptuous attitude towards the other young boy.

The middle-aged man glanced at Wang Ma and, without pausing, first moved towards the injured Xu Tan.

"Kid, are you okay? Take this painkiller medicine. It also contains a degree of healing properties and will help you stabilize your body." The middle-aged man said as he handed Xu Tan a small pea-sized pill of dark brown color.

"Th...thank yo..u senior!" Xu Tan was stunned for a moment; the next second, he took the medicine pill from the middle-aged man's hand and ate it on the spot.

As he was eating the pill, the middle-aged man didn't disturb him and looked towards Wang Ma, who was standing not far away while folding his arms.

"Wang Ma, right? Although you have some talent, you need to remember that if you have talent but lack character, you are only as good as a wild beast... I hope you can reflect on it in the future."

"Just extending a hand in help when needed won't make your waist bend in humiliation!"

Wang Ma, who was watching the show in an arrogant posture while taking pleasure in others' misfortune, suddenly left there standing as his face turned blue and red.

It was just when he was on the verge of anger and was going to misspeak that Vice-headmaster Wu arrived in front of them.

"Wang Ma! You should remember that the reason you were given a chance is because we thought you were worthy of that."

"If just because of awakening you think you can cross the border and look down on your fellow classmates, this opportunity is wasted on you!" Lin Wu's sudden cold voice left Wang Ma speechless.

Even though he was angry and wanted to speak, yet seeing the cold and unfeeling gaze of Lin Wu, he shuddered and stood on the spot.

"Xu Tan, right? Don't lose hope! I've said these words to you, not because of pity, but rather because I hope you and everyone in your batch, who were not able to awaken, won't give up easily."

"It's okay; you can give it a try next time, only if you won't lose hope; only then there is a way! Understood!"

"Y... Yes! Vice Headmaster Wu… Xu Tan, who lost his hope and was downhearted, said in a shaking tone.

Although he was encouraged by Lin Wu, there was still not enough to fill his desperate heart...

'Sigh…' Lin Wu shook his head and nodded his head towards the middle-aged man and went away.

"Wang Ma, awakened as a spirit warrior, has a fire attribute affinity, while the talent index is 'One Star Eighth Index.' Go over there and sit inside the waiting room." The middle-aged man said coldly and helped Xu Tan move over to the waiting room.

He didn't even bother to speak politely to him at all and went away.

It could be said that Wang Ma's attitude towards his classmate was indeed unworthy.

'Humph! Blind fools!' Wang Ma looked at the middle-aged man in anger as he gloomily walked toward the glass room.

The students who were inside the glass room intently watched the great show.

Indeed, they hadn't heard anything, but it was clearly visible, and they could see that Wang Ma was looking down on Xu Tan.

Honestly, they also felt uncomfortable about how Wang Ma changed after becoming a spirit warrior.

No doubt, Wang Ma was an arrogant person from the start, but this time he made it even clearer.

The middle-aged man left Xu Tan, and a few classmates went forward and helped Xu Tan sit on the side edge chair.

When the middle-aged man left, Wang Ma also entered the room, but contrary to getting a greeting and applause, he was ignored by everyone.

No one even gave a straight look to him.

This naturally made him even more upset and angry, yet he gave a light humph and sat down next to the Li Bao, where there were enough empty chairs.

After this small trance ended, the students began to talk to each other.

Some students who were sitting next to Xu Tan encouraged him from time to time.

"Ding Wei, what do you think? Who'll get the best result this time? I think most of the classmates think that it would be Li Ping..." Jin Tao, who was sitting while bored, cast a side glance at him and asked.

Her few words actually attracted everyone's attention, and one by one they looked at each other and gave Ding Wei a final glance.

These students are more or less now aware of each other's talent index; the reason they didn't point out their opinion is because unconsciously they thought Jin Tao and others were more worthy of leadership.

After all, one is a supernatural spirit warrior, and the other had one of the best talent indexes as an Imperial Spirit Master.

Contrary to Lin Shui'er and Li Yanyan, both gave the stage to Jin Tao and Ding Wei readily.

Seeing everyone prick their ears, even arrogant Wang Ma narrowed his eyes as he stubbornly stared at the remaining closed doors.

Ding Wei didn't make any remarks instantly; rather, he gave it a thorough thought.

"In my opinion, Li Ping is indeed the best of all of us, but I can't conclude that if he were the one to take the lead, the remaining eight students are not actually bad at all."

"One must remember about Senior Han Yu, he was deemed to be the most talented in the younger generation. It's said that even in an imperial city there were not many of his caliber, but in the end, fate has decided something else for him...."

As everyone heard Ding Wei's answer, most of them subconsciously nodded their heads, while there were some who frowned; Xu Tan was one of them.
