Chapter 217: Coming Out
Inside the narrow cave, the Thousand Wealth Chamber's caravan clustered in the tunnel, filling all the spaces.
After waiting for over an hour, none of them could hear the rumbling sound coming from above.
Taking a deep breath, Mo Jian looked at the two elders and commanded,
"Bring out the Moon Orb."
Quickly, Zhao Tian commanded the servant to light up the Moon Orb.
Instantly, the dark cave was illuminated by the bright Moon Orb. With the bright light, the suffocating apprehension lessened a lot.
Many could finally let go of the pent-up breath in their chests.
The tension was just great.
For a moment, Mo Jian did not speak. He allowed everyone to recover from their mental and physical stress before he spoke.
"I don't think we can go out that way." He looked at the cave entrance, now covered in yellow sand.
"Indeed, it is impossible to come out from this side." Elder Zhao nodded. "We need to find another path or make a new one."
He pointed to the Old Withered Man and Lonely Spear. "Lead some men to scout ahead for any danger."
The Old Withered Man and the Lonely Spear nodded and picked their men, taking Moon Orbs with them as they disappeared into the narrow tunnel in the distance.
With them scouting for any possible path, everyone relaxed as they could only hope there would be a way to leave this forsaken cave and desert.
Mo Jian looked at Elder Bai and asked,
"How is your injury?"
"Haha. It's nothing." Elder Bai responded, shaking his head without any care for the dry blood on his robe.
"Young Master, you don't need to worry. I've already given him a healing pill." Elder Li Huang responded from the side.
From the beginning, she had been taking care of the injured guards. With her knowledge of alchemy increasing, all the life-threatening injuries became nothing to her.
Although Elder Bai Delan's injuries seemed grave, it was nothing. Her healing pill would heal everything, and he would be back on his feet as soon as possible.
After ten minutes, the Lonely Spear returned with his team.
"Young Master, we found a possible path," he reported.
Hearing this, Mo Jian breathed a sigh of relief.
"Good." He nodded. "Where is the Old Withered Man?"
"We separated when the path split into two… He should be back very soon."
Mo Jian nodded and decided to wait for the Old Withered Man to return before he made his decision.
Shortly, the Old Withered Man returned covered in sand. Not only him, but some members of his team were also covered in sand.
Seeing this, everyone raised their brows.
"What happened?" Mo Jian asked.
"Some members of my team fell into quicksand, but I managed to save them right on time." The Old Withered Man responded.
"Alright. What about the path?" Mo Jian asked.
"Not good. Everywhere is filled with quicksand." He shook his head.
"Then we'll follow the Lonely Spear route."
With that decided, they began to move forward, following the Lonely Spear's path.
As they journeyed deep into the cave, the narrow tunnel grew bigger, and the stuffy atmosphere disappeared.
They arrived at a junction where the tunnel split into two. They took the left tunnel and headed deeper.
Everywhere was silent, leaving only the sound of sand falling continuously from the ceiling.
Along the path, they saw many skeletons and weapons. Looking at the skeletons, Mo Jian creased his brow but did not command the group to stop.
Yet, the presence of the skeletons created an ominous atmosphere among them.
Would they be buried in this cave like those skeletons?
Is this their end?
Many negative thoughts appeared in the minds of the servants and weaker people. But no one dared to speak out their thoughts.
Slowly, they moved forward.
As they moved deeper, the number of skeletons increased, numbering in the hundreds.
Crack! Crack!
The sound of skulls being crushed to pieces echoed in the still, quiet tunnel. Some of the guards swallowed the lumps in their throats.
A question burned in everyone's mind – What happened here?
With the lingering question in the air, subconsciously, they quickened their pace.
They had faced too many dangers throughout this journey and did not want to confront another one.
Suddenly, a distinct sound came from the distance. Everyone's heart jumped to their throats, their hands moved to their weapons.
The Lonely Spear raised his hand for the caravan to stop. He made a gesture for his team to follow him.
Swiftly, they departed with light footsteps. Everyone remained in their position, ready for battle.
A minute later, they returned.
"Young Master, we can proceed. The sound is coming from the sharp sand from above," the Lonely Spear announced.
Huh!
Various gasps of relief echoed in the tunnel, and they continued their slow-paced journey.
They arrived at the fallen sharp sand forming a bowl of quicksand below. If any unfortunate being fell into it, that would be their end.
Circling around the bowl, they bypassed it and continued heading further into the tunnel.
A couple of minutes later, they arrived at the exit only to discover it was blocked by sand.
Looking at the blocked exit, they froze. However, Mo Jian was not surprised.
"Lonely Spear, attack the exit," he commanded.
"Yes, Young Master."
Bang!
Lonely Spear struck the heap of sand blocking the exit, and the ground trembled.
Looking at the deep hole at the exit, Mo Jian's confidence increased.
"Continue!"
Bang! Bang!
After a barrage of attacks, the heap of sand was ripped apart, and a bright light appeared at the other end.
Looking at the bright light, a radiant smile appeared on everyone's faces.
A few minutes later, their caravan came out of the tunnel.
Feeling the fresh air, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, with bright smiles appearing on their faces.
"Look!" a voice shouted.
Instantly, everyone turned their gaze in the voice's direction, and behold…
