Chapter 212: Desert of Fallen 2
Inside the carriage, Mo Jian contemplated what he had just learned from Peng Bo. He never thought the path to the Central Region would be this filled with danger.
If they had not come up with sufficient preparation, perhaps their journey to the Central Region would have been his greatest mistake.
Taking a deep breath to calm his thoughts, he returned to his study, no more worrying about the threat from the Desert of Fallen.
Outside, their caravan and the Evernight Treasure Hall caravan raced through the narrow path.
With the two caravans forming a temporary alliance, their overall strength increased and the courage to pass through the Desert of Fallen grew.
As they journeyed through the rocky plain, the landscape slowly began to change. Rocks and trees began to disappear, yellow sands appeared, and the temperature rose sharply.
They could already see the desert from hundreds of meters away. Apart from the never-ending sand dunes in the distance, they also discovered many caravans parked at the foot of the desert, waiting.
The caravans numbered over dozens and loud chatters echoed in the air.
When the caravans discovered the other incoming caravans, they turned their heads and locked their gazes on them.
"I hope these caravans will be a bit stronger than the last one."
"Do you think if they were stronger, they would join our group?"
"Why not? We're one of the strongest caravans."
"Tsk! Look, those bastards are already eyeing them."
"Shit! Are they not going to allow us any chance of survival?"
The caravans were divided into many smaller groups as they all hoped to band together to cross the Desert of Fallen, watching each other's backs.
Among the groups, there were stronger ones and weaker ones. Those from the stronger group looked down on the weaker ones.
The weaker groups could only hope for a stronger caravan to arrive and join them.
The horror of the Desert of Fallen was not something a single caravan could withstand.
Slowly, the Evernight Treasure Hall caravan and the Thousand Wealth Chamber arrived at the foot of the desert, feeling all the gazes locked on them.
For a moment, everywhere was still as if waiting for a cue.
Creak!
Peng Bo came out of his carriage wearing a bright smile when he saw the crowd.
This was not the first time he had seen such a gathering. This was how things were at the Desert of Fallen.
"Hahaha... Brother Peng, you're here again," a middle-aged man laughed loudly, stepping forward with an exaggerated grin.
Leader Peng turned his head and looked at the middle-aged man and laughed. "Hahahah. Brother Shi, we meet once again."
The two leaders greeted each other with bright smiles.
Seeing this, leaders of each of the caravans wore a deep frown. They expected this would be an open battle to win the new arrival to their group, but they were wrong.
Nevertheless, there was still one left.
Quickly, the various group leaders moved all at once, coming toward the Thousand Wealth Chamber caravan.
"Please, can we meet your leader?" a beautiful woman said to the guards.
The guards did not even bat an eye at her. Their faces were expressionless; their mere presence sent shivers down the spines of all the group leaders.
Looking at tens of Peak Core Refining Warriors serving as mere guards, all the leaders had a cunning smile on their faces.
As long as they could make the caravan join their group, it was almost certain they would cross the Desert of Fallen in one piece.
However, no matter how they tried to contact the Thousand Wealth Chamber leader, they only received silence.
Watching this, the various leaders were filled with urgency. They only had a short window to convince them to join their group before they ventured into the desert.
Leader Shi, while talking with Leader Peng, noticed the strange atmosphere at the Thousand Wealth Chamber caravan and couldn't help but ask,
"Brother Peng, where did you meet such a powerful force?"
"Ha! Our paths crossed and we agreed to journey together," Leader Peng responded with a prideful smile.
He grinned inwardly. The mere force of the Thousand Wealth Chamber was enough to dominate the area.
Who among the forces could boast such a force?
Hearing this, a shrewd smile appeared on Leader Shi's face. "Brother Peng, why don't you introduce us to them? Perhaps, we can travel together."
"You of all people should know the danger of the desert," he added.
Leader Peng smiled but did not respond. He turned his gaze and looked at the empty, quiet desert.
Seeing this, Leader Shi understood what was going on. Without hesitating, he took out a spatial pouch and gave it to him.
"Brother Peng, take this as a token of gratitude." He forced the pouch into his hand.
Leader Peng grinned with a meaningful smile. "Brother Shi, you don't have to do this. We're brothers. Of course, I'll convince them to all join them."
"Hahaha. I trust Brother Peng."
The two laughed, coming to a tacit understanding.
After a few chats, the two separated, returning to their caravans.
Leader Peng, with his usual smile, swaggered toward the quiet, indifferent Thousand Wealth Chamber.
Other leaders had their gazes on him; they were waiting to see what would happen.
"I want to see your leader," Leader Peng said with an air of confidence.
"For what?" the Old Withered asked, staring at him with a bone-chilling gaze.
Under his gaze, Leader Peng felt a chill crawl down his spine.
"I just want to tell him that I've found a group we can join to cross the desert together," he said, forcing out the words.
"Alright. I'll relay this to the Young Master."
"Good. I'll notify you when it is time for us to depart."
With that, he left, still maintaining his usual approachable smile. However, his heart was pounding heavily against his chest.
Previously, he did not feel the thick, bloodthirsty aura around the guards, but when he faced the Old Withered Man…
He felt he was in a sea of blood, about to be buried in it.
Returning to his carriage, he wiped off the bead of sweat from his forehead.
'Terrifying…' he exclaimed in his heart.
Unknown to him, Mo Jian was watching all his actions.
