Chapter 1287: Yuga and Cynthia vs. Giovanni

When Yuga and Dragonite appeared before Hydreigon, the latter initially assumed that Yuga was in the same group with the three Team Plasma members and immediately launched an attack on him.

Although Yuga wasn't with those three, his goal was the same.

...

[ Hydreigon ]

Type: Dark, Dragon

Ability: Levitate

Gender: Male

Potential: Blue

Level: 74

Moves: Tackle, Dragon Rage, Bite, Headbutt, Dragon Breath, Dragon Pulse, Dragon Rush, Scary Face, Hyper Voice, Outrage, Tri Attack, Hyper Beam, Flamethrower, Flash Cannon, Burn Up, Double Hit, Dark Pulse, Draco Meteor.

...

Having defeated Iris's Elite-level Dragonite, it was clear that this Hydreigon was no pushover. After reviewing its stats, Yuga was thoroughly pleased.

In the Dragon Den Sub-Ecopark, his Goodra was still single, and this Hydreigon seemed like a perfect match for it in every way. Yuga was already looking forward to the day their offspring would be born.

By this point, Yuga had firmly made up his mind—he absolutely had to capture this Hydreigon and bring it back to pair with Goodra.

The Dark Pulse launched by Hydreigon was shattered by a single punch from Dragonite, leaving Hydreigon visibly shocked.

However, rather than feeling intimidated, the attack only spurred Hydreigon's fighting spirit. It suddenly flew higher into the air and unleashed Tri Attack from above.

Three beams of light—red, blue, and yellow—shot toward Dragonite under Hydreigon's precise control. Dragonite swiftly shielded Yuga behind it and countered with Thunderbolt.

A golden lightning bolt collided with Hydreigon's Tri Attack, scattering the three beams instantly. The lightning surged forward with unrelenting force, engulfing Hydreigon entirely.

"ROARRR—"

Hydreigon let out a pained cry. When the lightning dissipated, its mane was standing on end from the electricity, and black smoke wafted from its body. It looked utterly miserable.

If not for Hydreigon's resistance to Electric-type moves, it would likely have already collapsed from the overwhelming difference in power between it and Dragonite.

Seeing how Yuga's Dragonite had subdued the powerful Hydreigon with just one move, Ash and the others, watching from a distance, erupted into cheers.

After taking such a hit, the once-determined Hydreigon now showed a glimmer of fear in its eyes, though it still had no intention of fleeing.

Dark-type and Dragon-type Pokémon were often prideful, and Hydreigon, being both, was no exception. Even with fear creeping in, its dignity wouldn't allow it to retreat without a fight.

This was essentially a case of stubborn pride leading to unnecessary suffering.

Knowing it wasn't a match for Dragonite, Hydreigon decided to unleash its ultimate move. Raising its heads, it began preparing Draco Meteor, but before it could finish charging, Dragonite had already used Extreme Speed to appear above it. A single Ice Punch sent Hydreigon crashing to the ground.

BOOM!

The ground was smashed into a large crater by the falling Hydreigon.

Although Dragonite's Ice Punch wasn't as practiced as its Thunder Punch, Ice-type moves were still a natural counter to Dragon-types. Hydreigon was knocked unconscious with that single blow.

Without hesitation, Yuga threw a Poké Ball, successfully capturing Hydreigon.

Picking up the Poké Ball containing Hydreigon, Yuga released it once more and then called out Florges to heal it.

Seeing Yuga successfully capture Hydreigon, Ash and the others eagerly rushed over to get a closer look.

Iris, in particular, was thrilled, given her love for Dragon-type Pokémon. She immediately reached out to touch it.

Even though Iris hailed from the Village of Dragons, she hadn't managed to have a Hydreigon as her starter Pokémon. Clearly, even in her hometown, Hydreigon was an exceptionally rare Pokémon.

However, Iris had barely petted it twice before Hydreigon woke up under Florges's treatment. Dragonite had restrained it's attack, so Hydreigon's injuries weren't severe.

The moment Hydreigon opened its eyes, it noticed Iris touching it and glared at her fiercely, forcing her to awkwardly withdraw her hand.

Realizing it had been captured by Yuga, Hydreigon didn't resist further, though it remained aloof, treating Yuga with an indifferent attitude.

Yuga, however, wasn't bothered. "If it doesn't listen, I'll just discipline it a few more times. If that doesn't work, I'll keep at it until it does," he thought.

Once Ash and the others had satisfied their curiosity, and Hydreigon's injuries were mostly healed, Yuga said, "Alright, we've found Hydreigon. Let's head back."

With that, the group retraced their steps.

They didn't forget to take along the three Team Plasma grunts who had been severely injured by Hydreigon. These three people were still conscious, and when they saw Yuga and the others approaching, they silently cursed their bad luck.

They had gone out of their way to distance themselves from Cynthia's villa, only to be tracked down by Yuga (though it was purely by chance).

Once back at the villa, Yuga handed the three over to the butler, Jamil, and left the matter alone.

When Cynthia returned and learned that Iris had captured a Dragonite and Yuga a Hydreigon, she sighed and said, "If I'd known, I wouldn't have gone out today. Maybe I could have captured a rare Dragon-type Pokémon too!"

Even though Cynthia was born into the Temple Clan, pseudo-legendary Pokémon were still incredibly hard to come by.

Of course, Cynthia was joking. Pseudo-legendaries weren't Pokémon you could casually encounter, especially those with blue potential.

The fact that two such Pokémon had appeared simultaneously in Undella Town was already a miracle. Another one showing up? That'd be as likely as the sun rising in the west.

Late that night, as most of Undella Town was deep in slumber, groups of figures clad in black silently infiltrated Cynthia's villa.

The moment these intruders entered the villa's perimeter, Gengar and Mismagius, who were on night watch in Yuga's room, immediately sensed their presence. Soon after, Mimikyu noticed them as well.

Ghost-type Pokémon were exceptionally sensitive to the presence of living beings.

Gengar and Mismagius hurried to wake up the sleeping Yuga.

"What happened?" Yuga asked, rubbing his eyes.

"Mismagius~ Mismagius~"

Mismagius whispered softly in Yuga's ear, explaining the situation.

"Someone has infiltrated the house?"

Yuga immediately jumped out of bed, quickly getting dressed. He didn't turn on the lights, fearing that the intruders would be alerted.

However, it was pitch black outside, and Yuga could hardly see his hand in front of his face. He fumbled around for a while before finally making his way out of the room.

As soon as he stepped out, he collided with a shadow. Just as he was about to command Gengar to attack, he heard a voice say, "It's me!"

It turned out that Cynthia had also noticed the intruders and had come to check things out. She was accompanied by Lucario, who, thanks to its aura powers, was able to recognize Yuga even in the dark.

"Lucario~"

After walking a short distance, Lucario suddenly raised a warning, and Yuga understood immediately. He whispered urgently, "Hold your breath, they've used Sleep Powder!"

As a wolf-type Pokémon, Lucario's sense of smell was incredibly sharp, and it easily detected the Sleep Powder that was hanging in the air.

After alerting Cynthia, Yuga released his Lapras. As soon as Lapras appeared, the air became damp, and the Sleep Powder was affected by the moisture, causing it to fall to the ground, allowing Yuga and Cynthia to breathe freely.

Without the threat of Sleep Powder, Yuga and Cynthia made their way directly to Ash's room. It was clear that the intruders' target was Meloetta.

However, neither Yuga nor Cynthia had expected the intruders to make a move even with two Champion-level trainers present.

When they reached Ash's room, they found that someone had indeed infiltrated. Both Ash and Meloetta had fallen into a deep sleep under the influence of Sleep Powder.

A fainted Meloetta was being cradled by one of the intruders, who was preparing to leave.

Upon noticing the approaching figures, the intruder immediately jumped out of the window. Yuga shouted, "Gengar, Mismagius, stop them!"

Cynthia also ordered sharply, "Lucario, Chandelure, don't let them escape!"

The four Pokémon immediately rushed forward and followed the intruder out of the window. Then, an explosion sounded from outside the window.

The three Ghost-type Pokémon and Lucario moved easily in the dark, but for Yuga and Cynthia, it was more challenging. By the time they made it outside, Lucario, Chandelure, Gengar, and Mismagius were already engaged in a fierce battle with a group of intruders.

"Lapras, get up there and help!" Yuga quickly ordered Lapras.

At the same time, he and Cynthia released their other Pokémon. They had no choice—there were too many enemies.

The yard of the villa had already been illuminated by the flames from Chandelure and Mismagius's Mystical Fire.

Taking advantage of the light, Yuga recognized the identities of the intruders. It was a joint team sent by Team Radiance and Team Plasma. Although they were all wearing black uniforms, the styles of the uniforms were slightly different.

Despite the noise of the battle, no one inside the house, including Iris and Dawn, seemed to react. It was clear they, like Ash, had been affected by the Sleep Powder.

Though the combined forces of Team Radiance and Team Plasma were numerous, Yuga and Cynthia's strength was overwhelming, and the intruders soon found themselves on the losing side.

As the black-clad figures were being taken down one by one, Yuga ordered Mimikyu from the Shadow Space to retrieve Meloetta.

Mimikyu, using the cover of the night, easily reached the intruder holding Meloetta. Just as it was about to make its move to reclaim Meloetta, an unexpected turn of events occurred.

A Beedrill appeared in front of Mimikyu in a flash, knocking it away with a single strike.

"Mimikyu!" Yuga shouted.

The intruder holding Meloetta also looked startled, as the Beedrill wasn't one of their Pokémon.

Beedrill easily snatched Meloetta from the intruder's arms, and with a single sting, the intruder was instantly killed.

Then Yuga saw Giovanni, standing casually with Jessie and James, aboard a small flying craft.

It was a classic "mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind!"

Team Rocket must have already realized what Team Radiance and Team Plasma were up to. Not only had they been secretly monitoring Meloetta, but they were also keeping track of the moves of these two organizations.

Beedrill handed Meloetta over to Jessie and James, who nodded to Giovanni before disappearing from sight.

One could only say, Giovanni truly lived up to his reputation!

Yuga and Cynthia quickly moved to stop Jessie and James from taking Meloetta away, bringing Florges and Garchomp to join the pursuit. However, Giovanni and his Beedrill blocked their path.

"Gym Leader Shimizu, we meet again!" Giovanni greeted Yuga with a smile.

Yuga replied coldly, "Move aside!"

Giovanni smiled and said, "If you want me to move, you'll have to defeat me! Both of you can come at me together!" As he spoke, he gestured toward Cynthia.

With his words, Beedrill underwent Mega Evolution.

The Mega-Evolved Beedrill was a Level 100 Pokémon. Giovanni, despite his confidence in his own abilities, didn't underestimate Yuga and Cynthia because of their youth. Instead, he prepared to go all out.

"Garchomp, Dragon Rush!"

Without hesitation, Cynthia commanded her Garchomp to launch an attack at Beedrill. Then she turned to Yuga and said, "I'll handle this. You go retrieve Meloetta!"

Yuga nodded and was about to take Florges to pursue Jessie and James.

However, as Garchomp charged at Beedrill, it was sent flying by a single Cross Poison from Beedrill.

Beedrill's wings vibrated rapidly, and in an instant, it appeared in front of Yuga and Florges, blocking their path and unleashing another Cross Poison at Florges.

Giovanni laughed and said, "I told you, if you want to leave, you'll have to defeat me!"

Florges used Psychic to barely hold off Beedrill's attack for a moment, giving Cynthia the chance to command Garchomp to attack Beedrill again.

However, Beedrill was too fast for Garchomp to keep up.

"Florges, Grassy Terrain!"

At Yuga's command, the grass in the courtyard began to grow wildly. Blades of grass thickened and intertwined, forming sturdy vines that twisted and reached out to chase Beedrill.

As Grassy Terrain activated, Garchomp's injuries began to heal, allowing it to charge at Beedrill once more.

With the interference of the vines from Grassy Terrain, Beedrill's speed slowed significantly, giving Garchomp a chance to barely keep up.

Giovanni's Mega Beedrill was incredibly powerful, with an attack strength far surpassing Cynthia's Garchomp. Each time Garchomp used Dragon Rush to clash with Beedrill, it was effortlessly repelled.

Meanwhile, Florges controlled the vines to hinder Beedrill's movements while also firing Magical Leaf at it. Beedrill, with its lightning-fast twin stingers, pierced through every Magical Leaf one by one, leaving not a single one to hit it.

When Garchomp tried to strike Beedrill from behind with Dragon Claw, Beedrill reacted as if it had eyes on its back, disappearing from its position in an instant and causing Garchomp's attack to miss.

Finally, Florges found an opening. A vine shot out and managed to grab one of Beedrill's legs.

Seizing the opportunity, Garchomp swung its Dragon Claw again.

But Beedrill remained unshaken. It calmly slashed its right stinger to sever the vine binding its leg, then raised its left stinger to block Garchomp's Dragon Claw.

Boom!

Beedrill emerged unscathed.

A Level 100 Pokémon lived up to its name. Even with Yuga and Cynthia joining forces, they could do little more than ensure their Pokémon weren't severely injured, achieving nothing else.

On the other side, under the assault of Yuga and Cynthia's other Pokémon, Team Plasma and Team Radiance members were falling one by one. Realizing that the situation was hopeless, their leader decisively ordered a retreat.

By then, however, only a handful of their members were left.

Giovanni, seeing Team Plasma and Team Radiance retreat, estimated that Jessie and James had already gotten far away with Meloetta. He waved his hand, signaling Beedrill to stop its attack.

"Well, it's time for me to leave. Gym Leader Shimizu, until we meet again!" With those words, Giovanni disappeared with Beedrill.

Yuga and Cynthia looked at the courtyard, now in ruins, and fell into silence.

They had never expected Giovanni to personally take action this time.
