Chapter 3: Pokémon Research Summit Eve, Current Daily Life
"Hey, Rope, you asshole, give me back Alakazam's Pokéball!" Blue glared at Rope and yelled angrily at him across a lab table.
Rope smiled cheaply: "Hey hey~ How about that, are you shaking with anger, sweating in the heat, and wanting to lament: when will you, Mr. Blue , be able to stand up!"
Blue's head bloomed a cross, grabbed a pile of documents and threw them at Rope.
Rope was so anxious that he turned his right arm into a flame and his right hand flew out, jumping up and down like a butterfly to pick up the papers that were scattered all over the place.
That was the script he was going to use for his speech at the Pokémon Research Summit tomorrow, Rope wiped a non-existent sweat with his left hand, and then laughed and said: "Oops, that was a close one Blue, if the script had been damaged... I'll just have to print out another copy."
The second half of the sentence was so bitchy it could have killed him.
Then, Rope felt a pain in his nose, his eyes were sore, and tears were streaming down his face.
"Ouch!" He crouched on the ground and wailed.
Blue walked to the opposite side, picked up Charizard's Pokéball that he had just thrown, and took Alakazam's Pokéball out of Rope's hand. He glared at Rope who was squatting on the ground and covering his nose. Then he returned to his seat and continued to write his training plan.
On the other side of the room, Professor Oak watched his grandson and Rope's "friendly interaction" with each other, and smiled a kind and pleased smile.
The door to the Research Institution was opened and Daisy came in with a tray of tea. She couldn't help but smile at Rope, who was already up rubbing his nose, and Blue, who was sulking at his desk.
"Come on, let's have some snacks. Especially you Blue, don't just come home and jump into your breeding program, Red's been sleeping for two days."
Daisy put the tea tray on the table, brought down the teacups, the teapot and a plate of Poké Puff, then put the tea tray on the side and greeted the other three to come over and have some snacks.
Professor Oak put down the information in his hand and smiled, Rope also rubbed his nose and came over to sit at the table. Blue scratched his head, he really can't do anything about his sister1. Blue scratched his head, he could not do anything about his sister. He had to put down the work in his hand, and then he was mumbling something like "It's because Red sleeps in that I can overtake him", "Trainer's work, can you call it busy?" and so on these difficult words. etc. The table was filled with a happy air.
Rope looked at this cozy scene in front of him, and for a moment he was in a trance. Before he knew it, he had been in this world for five years. From the beginning, he had been confused and cautious, but now he was getting along with everyone naturally, he had experienced a lot and grown up a lot.
From being a wanderer, he has become a famous researcher. Both he and Professor Oak had put in a lot of effort. At this point, he's more like family than lab material.
He watched Blue win the championship, and then be ousted by Red in a matter of hours. He witnessed the birth of the Pokédex and got his own. He accompanied Daisy to the Pokémon Contest and watched her receive the winner's medal from Mr. Juan at the Sootopolis Gym.
Most notably, he still hasn't conquered a single Pokémon.
Deep in his heart, a voice told him that he had to go home, that once he became too tied to the world...
There's no going back.
"Rope, Rope?"
Daisy's voice came in his ear, pulling him out of his trance. He answered, "Yeah, yeah."
Daisy smiled gently and asked, "Have you prepared your speech for tomorrow?"
Rope took a sip of his tea, picked up a Poké Puff and put it in his mouth, and gave Daisy an "ok" sign.
Of course he was ready. After attending the summit in Sinnoh's Celebration City tomorrow, he would start his journey in the Sinnoh region, because the two Pokémon that might be able to send him home, Dialga and Palkia, lived in the Sinnoh region. Unfortunately, Rope didn't have a deep impression of the plot in the Sinnoh region and had forgotten how to summon these two Pokémon, so he could only start from scratch to find the ruins and conduct research. He chose this time point because his research on Celebi had reached a bottleneck. Without seeing the real Pokémon, any conclusion drawn from only a few words of information would always be a hypothesis.
However, Celebi was so elusive that he was forced to change his target after searching for it for so long. Compared to the wandering Celebi, Dialga and Palkia, who slept in a fixed location, were a little easier to find, although more dangerous, but also had no choice.
Daisy looked at Rope's action nodded, smiled and said: "You I still rest assured, than Blue this guy to rely on a lot."
Blue was not happy, pointing at Rope who picked up another Poké Puff and stuffed it into his mouth, "This guy is more reliable than me? I'm a champion, sis!"
"I'm the first time I've seen a champion who hasn't even had a day. No, not even an hour."
Rope replied relentlessly.
Blue couldn't stand it any longer and grabbed Rope by the neck. It was okay for other people to mention it, but for some reason, he had a hard time controlling his temper when Rope mentioned it.
"Uh-uh, help me, Professor, Daisy, help me!"
Daisy and Professor Oak were both holding their heads in their hands, the two of them just couldn't get enough of each other.
And so, a full day went by.
In the evening, Rope sat on the roof of the institute, drinking tree fruit juice alone, his mind in a whirlwind of thoughts.
Footsteps sounded, and Blue's voice came from behind.
"What are you doing?"
Rope held up the tree sap in his hand and said: "You tell me."
Blue shook his head, walked up and sat next to Rope. Rope handed over a bottle of unopened tree juice, which Blue took and opened the cap and drank. Blue took a sip from the bottle and opened the cap. This tree juice is made in jugs, and while it's delicious, it can also make you a little tipsy.
Moonlight in Professor Oak's backyard, the green grass covered with a bed of moon white quilt, the wind blowing the grass, as if full of moonlight on the surface of the lake surging waves. From time to time, the nocturnal Pokémon would chirp in the forest in the distance, adding life to the stillness of the night.
"Are you really traveling in Sinnoh?" Blue asked Rope, looking out over the lawn.
Rope tilted his head back and took a sip of tree sap and said, "Yeah, I'd like nothing more than to do some research on the Twin Dragons of Time and Space, after all, it's all about where I come from and where I'm going. There's no better place than Sinnoh with the legend of the origin of the world."
Rope didn't lie to Professor Oak's family after all, though he didn't tell the truth either. He said that he had somehow traveled through time and space, and that the fruit that gave people the power of fire had somehow appeared in his hand. There's nothing wrong with that, it just doesn't tell the whole story.
Blue shook the bottle in his hand, and after a moment of silence said, "I have a little bit of an idea on Celebi's side, it's okay for you to wait a little longer."
Rope smiled, patted Blue's shoulder and said: "It's okay, you continue to help me keep an eye on it, send me a message when you find a clue, I'll be right back." Said, also used his hand to draw an arc in the air, signaling that he will soon be able to fly back.
Blue took a sip of tree juice, and after a moment of silence said, "I'll lend you Charizard. Traveling isn't as safe as being in the backyard."
Rope couldn't help but tug at the corner of his mouth, thinking that the backyard wasn't exactly a safe place.
"It's fine! Don't you know what I'm capable of? Even if I can't beat you, no one can stop me if I want to run away." Rope waved his hand to show that he had no problem at all.
Blue took another sip of juice and stopped talking.
After a few moments of silence, Blue asked.
"Can you really find a way to get home?"
Rope's hand paused as he shook the bottle, and after a moment he said, "I don't know."
His crossing over was a bad joke.
Five years later, he still...
Didn't know anything...
Blue took another sip, then got up and said, "Red and I will both help you find Celebi's clues, be safe in Sinnoh, and don't be a hero." With that, Blue turned to leave.
Rope raised his juice bottle and said aloud, "Thanks!"
Blue didn't reply and just went downstairs.
Rope looked at the moon and smiled bitterly.
"Dad, Mom... I don't think I'll ever be able to go back."
The crescent moon hung above the night, like a smile of relief.
