I woke up an hour before the alarm clock shouted, and I mentally berated the latex-clad teenager. Batman doesn't kill, does he? Or did they make an exception for me? And the way he smiled at the end. It reminded me of Batman laughing. Brrrrr. creepy. Well, I remember him. If I ever get him in the arena again, it won't be a quick death.
Having prepared and waited for the class to begin, I stood at the firing range. And at that moment a message from the system appeared in front of me.
Assignment received
"Follow in your father's footsteps."
Show everyone that a Lion can't have a kitten. Be the best in all subjects and tests.
Reward for completion: respect of Shield agents, retaining the support of your father, attracting the attention of the Shield director, 50 S.O. and a wish coin.
Punishment for failure: contempt of Shield agents, disappointment of father, 30% chance to go on experiments and increased suicide missions in the agent's future career.
Class. Be the best or die. Or go to the lab. I'm gonna have to work harder. That's when our teacher/observer arrived. Shooting had long ceased to be a problem for me, and shooting at fixed targets, it was impossible to miss. And it wasn't even about the level of shooting. In such shooting the recoil, which I didn't even feel, was more important. That's why, having emptied three magazines of the Emka and started to take the beret, I was stopped by the trainer, who advised me to move to higher level simulators. This was already a lot more fun. The targets appeared in random places, and the maximum difficulty mode removed all colours from the targets and left only one red dot, which appeared in random places. All in all, the lesson was useful and entertaining.
Next came the biology class. You ask why? Well, it's simple. We were taught where it is better to hit, so that the target was very painful, how not to leave marks after blows and clamping which points a person will immediately go to the kingdom of morpheus. In subsequent classes, the training switched to medical aid in conditions when you could no longer count on the hospital, and you do not want to die.
Then we were taught how best to infiltrate facilities of different levels of defence. How to blend in with the crowd. And other tricks of the good agent trade. Then it was driving. We were given all kinds of cars to drive. From regular sedans and supercars to military trucks and limousines. And I was immersed in a routine of learning that was broken on very rare occasions. One of those moments was my birthday. Specifically a gift from the system.
Congratulations on this momentous occasion. We have been watching your diligence and training that brings you closer to your goal. So to help you, we are sending you these wonderful gifts. (o^▽^o).
Leather intimidation suit restorable- 1pc.
Controlled plug - 1pc.
-And what are these miracle items? - I asked the system.
The suit is completely bulletproof for small calibre, but bigger guns will be able to put their long hard bullets into you. It will also repair any damage over time.It looked like a full-on BDSM suit with a zip on my dignity. Very intimidating.
The silencer can render anyone speechless. If the user puts it on a living being, it cannot be removed without their permission. Once it's on, it's invulnerable.
This is a sex shop gag and it looks more like it just came with the costume.
These gifts are really great. You could put it on and hang yourself right now.
***Two months later***
Zing!
Mission accomplished.
You've shown what you can do. Your father is proud of you. The head of the Shield was interested.
Reward: the combat agents respect you and realise what you are capable of; a wish coin; 50 S.O..
A Wish Coin is a one-time use object capable of granting one wish to its recipient. A player may not use a Wish Coin. It must be gifted to a sentient living creature.
It's not very useful. maybe I'll find a use for it later. All right things are packed and it remains only to buy a ticket for the plane, but this I think can be done tomorrow.
Well, that's the end of my training here. Next up for me was Washington, D.C. At least that's what I thought at first. Until I had to take a fortnight off. I told my father I needed to get away from the routine and clear my head. And to my surprise, he went along with it, of course, reminding me of his promise beforehand. Call it the perks of being a better student and a good son.
Now let's get to the point, what made me stop studying? Oh, it was nothing. A report of one channel about a military operation on the territory of some institute and eyewitnesses' speeches about a big green monster who was tearing cars with his bare hands. When I heard that, I realised I had no more than seven or ten days before the Queens showdown. Bruce is on a road trip to New York with Betty. And it would be perfect if I remembered the name of the scientist Bruce was corresponding with. But all I could think of were call signs like Mr Blue or Mr Green. So the chance of disarming the abomination while it was still in its infancy was extremely minimal. Plus the scientist who developed the cure for Banner. He's supposed to be a thinker. And even though in the KVM there was no hint of his existence, but here if the transformation goes well we will get an evil genius with intelligence on the level of Stark, and maybe even higher. Only if Stark can create an AI killer, who, not possessing knowledge of genetics, will decide to go an extremely radical way in the eradication of mankind. That thinker, while still a normal human, created a serum based on Bruce's blood to stamp out the Hulk. And if he decides that mankind prevents him, then in a couple of days in the world can appear a very powerful virus that will kill most of humanity. And then he'll rule over the rest. This bastard will be more dangerous than several of the Abominations put together. That's why its elimination is my first priority. And just in case I cross my fingers and hope his head just explodes when he mutates.
When I got into town, I called Tony right away.
-Oh, kid, where you been? - I heard Stark's voice, sparkling with interest.
-"Studying. But that's not what this is about. - I said, interrupting Stark's question.
-"What's wrong? - Tony's voice lost all its playfulness when he realised I was serious.
-Is the heavyweight ready? - I asked, hoping for a positive answer.
-Almost, but why do you need it? - Stark was eager to get to the bottom of the problem.
-Let's just say I have information about the potential for great destruction in New York. And I certainly hope I don't need it in the next few days. But get it done as soon as you can. - I said, so Stark would understand the scope of the problem.
-I take it you won't tell me the source of the information. -You're not going to tell me. - When he received my silence, he continued. -Listen, I know an organisation that can solve this problem. - Stark started to urge me on, but I interrupted him.
-"SHIELD. - I described in one word what Stark was about to describe to me in dozens of sentences.
-You know them?! - Tony was surprised.
-"I told you, I studied. - I didn't explain further.
-They already know about it. But even if they didn't, we probably wouldn't be able to get help from them. Maybe only at the last moment. - I started to explain the problem to Stark.
-The military's on the case, and they don't like the bird much. Plus it's all just speculation, so agents can't lock down the right places and wait for trouble. It's even more advantageous for the Shield to do nothing. - I said, letting out a weary sigh.
-Why is that? - I couldn't see Tony now, but I was sure he was frowning.
-They're in a funding war right now. -And what better way to do it than with a demonstration. And what better way to show how the military is responsible for the collapse of a city and the deaths of civilians. It's like two marathon runners starting a race and running parallel to each other. And then one of them pulls out a gun and shoots himself in both knees. All in all, it's one of the best outcomes for The Shield. - I summed up the crappiness of the situation.
-I'll be completing the costume soon. - Said Stark, and then he hung up. I have a feeling he'll have a lot to think about tonight.
Sighing, I tucked the phone into my pocket, glad I'd bargained it away from Tony last time. This baby is impossible to eavesdrop on, and it catches almost anywhere on the planet because of the Stark Industries satellites. All in all, it's gold, not a smartphone. Without it, you could only have these conversations in person.
Well, I thought I'd build up some confidence by looking at my work over the past few months.

Fighting Batman really boosted my fighting skills. He was directly hammering knowledge into me. Other fights raised them a bit more. Shooting I pumped up with the help of mastering a wide variety of weapons. So now I can shoot with almost every possible weapon. Skills for infiltration and other theory together with frequent practice raised my stealth a lot. The engineer I upgraded with the help of literature, and the cook I was able to upgrade several times thanks to rare cooking opportunities in the canteen. It took me a long time to get this opportunity, but in the last month the bastion was conquered. Howl I pumped in combat, as well as the falcon's gaze. The gaze helped me a lot in the second fight, but no matter how cool it is, it can't compare to the sixth sense. Yes, I had to spend points, but otherwise I would have just been rolled in the first five minutes of the fight. I got the ability and I got a good boost. The biologist was discovered by biology. Amazing, isn't it? Driver's licence was a normal skill at first, but after I drove a car, boat, helicopter, plane and tried to drive a tank they became such.
So much benefit from training I had never received in my life.
A few days later Stark sent me a text saying the suit was ready. That managed to calm me down for a while. Still, the moment of the Hulk turning my body into mush sticks out in my mind pretty clearly. That pain and fear, flashed for a moment, immediately suppressed by the player's mind. None of this made me confident of my survival in this scuffle.
But here I am, standing on the roof of a building in Queens, watching a military helicopter transport Bruce into the sky. Checking my armour, I pressed the call button and immediately rushed to the take-off point...
