Chapter 337: Saint's Signature?
Millis jogged over to them, pulling along a heavy trolley with her own set of debris inside.
She waved at them with a "Lucky-Go-Happy" smile and yelled:
"Yooo~! Wassup, guys! How's mah favourite girlies doing~?"
Lillian gave the Heroine a weak wave as she continued to take the brunt force of Marionette's piercing gaze, which... Fortunately, it disappeared a split second later.
She sighed in relief again and answered Millis, who had now arrived before them:
"Yeah... Not too bad. How about you?" Lillian took a subtle glance towards the inside of Millis's trolley. And if she had to compare hers with the Heroine... She was losing.
"I see you have quite the tall haul there..."
Millis glanced back at her haul before nodding proudly, "Well~...! I'm pretty strong, which I'm sure ya already know~, Lil'!"
She then took a long look at the handcuff wrapped around Lillian's wrist. Her eyes then drifted towards Marionette's wrist, which was connected to it.
She gave a broad and teasing grin as she moved in and wrapped an arm around Lillian's neck.
"Hey~, Hey~! Still cuffed? Is this really a punishment or some kink ya two got?"
Lillian immediately flushed red at her words. She instantly responded and said with a stuttering voice:
"K-kink!? I-I already told you that this isn't, Millis!"
Lillian continued to rant on with her words, which fell on deaf ears as the Heroine rolled her eyes playfully, even looking towards the girl's mother, Veronica, who just giggled at the display.
And as this was happening, Marionette was looking towards the side, holding her chin as Millis's words funnelled and echoed inside her ears.
She then mumbled in a confused but curious voice:
"Kink?" She was aware of what the word meant, but were there people who were truly interested and found pleasure in being cuffed?
Looking down at her wrist and the metal cuff around it, she slowly drifted her gaze up to Lillian's reddened face, who now calmed down a little.
The white-haired girl noticed the woman's gaze and gulped.
"Did I... Say something wrong?"
Marionette stared down at her, silent, before lowering her hand from her chin and looking forward.
"I wasn't paying attention. Let's just continue with the volunteer work. I wish to attend the funeral and be done with it."
They then continued on, followed by Millis, who felt even more cheerful to be around her friends. And as they worked, Lillian couldn't help but ask the Heroine:
"Say, is Reph currently with the Saint?"
Millis, dumping another pile of bricks into her trolley, looked back and pondered. She tapped her finger on her chin before nodding in recollection:
"Yeah, actually! I think that guy is hanging out with his bro and family, right now."
Lillian nodded slowly before smirking:
"Did you come in contact with the Saint?"
Millis raised an eyebrow for a split second before grinning back. She then pushed her left hand into her pocket before pulling out a piece of paper.
"Uh, huh. Got that autograph like you wanted, Lil'!"
Lillian's eyes shone as she grasped the piece of paper before unfolding it with one hand. She stared at the black cursive ink writing that spelt out:
[S-Leon]
"Woah..." Lillian's mouth opened into an 'o' before being met with another item.
This time... It was an action figure?
Millis held it with both hands, holding it out for Lillian to take, "And check this out! The guy even had a pocket figure to hand out! How cool is that!?"
Lillian took it off the woman's hands, inspecting the toy and moving the Saint's arms around.
"It really is cool..."
She eventually stopped playing around with it before placing it inside her storage ring.
She then took a look at the signed piece of paper, in awe, before muttering:
"Man... I never had anything signed by a celebrity before..."
"How come ya didn't go and ask him in person?" Millis tilted her head, which caused Lillian to give a crooked smile.
Lillian responded with:
"I'm... I'm a shy person..."
"Ehh... Are ya though? Ya never came across like that for me." Millis stroked her chin, deep in thought, as Lillian stared at her with a deadpan look.
Eventually, Millis dropped it and asked:
"So, whatcha consider a celebrity then? Last I checked, we had a local prince inside our class. Ya didn't go up to him for an autograph."
Lillian paused at the woman's question. She then rubbed the back of her neck with a sheepish look.
"Ehh... It's too weird to ask him for an autograph. I did want to get one from the King himself, though..." Lillian rubbed her chin in thought as she was asked another question.
"How about someone from an infamous family then? Like..." Millis took a look behind the girl, "The heiress of a literal assassin family?"
Lillian smiled wryly at this and turned her body around. She gazed up and found a certain black-haired woman looking away from her.
Lillian couldn't help but give a deadpan expression at this, "You... You're not actually envious, are you?"
Marionette gave her a brief glance before snorting, "Why would I? An autograph is a mere collectors item, yes? And why would I be jealous of someone gaining such keen interest from you?"
The woman then tried to fold her arms, but was interrupted by the handcuff wrapped around her right wrist.
She immediately lowered her arms and then coughed into her fist, inconspicuously.
Lillian watched this happen with a crooked smile. As much as the woman may try to hide it...
'She's definitely jealous...'
... It was obvious from the cold and gloomy aura the woman was giving off.
And with how blatant it was, Lillian feared it was actually the woman's element activating.
Her face twitched vigorously.
'Was she always this jealous?!'
Marionette, who was turned away with a small frown, focused back on clearing up the rubble.
But that was only until—
"Aww~... Don't be mad..."
—Lillian wrapped an arm around her chest, hugging her.
She then heard her say:
"Why would I need an autograph, when you're already worth much more than that~?"
Marionette, feeling the girl rubbing her face against her shoulder, pouted slightly as she felt the inside of her heart feel warm from the Rabbit's words.
However, refusing to look at Lillian, she muttered:
"This won't convince me to take the handcuffs off."
Lillian smiled wryly, "It... Wasn't my intentio—..." She then immediately sighed before saying:
"Yeah, whatever..."
Lillian then slowly rose on her "tippy-toes" and quickly pecked the side of the woman's neck, leaving the Assassin stunned for a moment.
Marionette's slight frown immediately disappeared as she held a hand over the area Lillian pecked. And although she currently wore a stoic face, a hint of shyness appeared inside her eyes.
Lillian, ignoring this, turned to Millis, who watched this happen with an amused grin and look in her eyes.
"Hm~? That's it? What? No kissy on the lips?"
Lillian's left eye twitched. She raised her right hand and tried to move towards the Heroine to smack her on the head. But of course, due to the handcuff around her left wrist, she wasn't able to.
And Millis instantly recognised this.
"BAHAHAHA!" She pointed at Lillian as she let out a mocking laugh whilst simultaneously rubbing the top of her head as though taunting the girl.
Lillian listened to this before huffing and saying:
"Oh, hush it, Millis."
