Chapter 66 - II
Upon receiving this news, Pei Zhengchen was amused by Baili Qing’s plan. He recognized that Baili Qing’s strategy was clever, but it failed to account for Pei Zhengchen and Xie Yu’s preferences. In response, Pei Zhengchen sent a team to intercept the envoys midway.
Baili Qing, unaware of these events, believed his plan would be successful. However, when his group of beautiful young shuangers failed to arrive at the border of Nanzhou as expected, his table was overturned in frustration.
Just when Baili Qing was in state of despair, a slender figure dressed in white suddenly walked in. this person was Liu Ling. She had pure and elegant appearance but had restrained viciousness on her face. She was very capable on bluffing people. Baili Qing preferred beautiful woman and this Liu Ling was just perfect for his taste. She was very favored by him.
Little did Baili Qing know that Liu Ling, who had narrowly escaped death during the rebellion, had traveled with the envoys to Nanyi. Liu Ling, harboring deep grudges against Pei Zhengchen and Xie Yu, had secretly been plotting to aid Baili Qing and take revenge.
.
One night, Liu Ling and the troops provided by Baili Qing, infiltrated Xiangshan Village in the border area of Zhongzhou. They initially caught the villagers off guard, leading to a massive explosion at the firearms warehouse on the mountain, followed by an attack and a large-scale massacre.
Upon hearing of the attack, Shi Wu immediately led a group of soldiers to rescue Xiangshan Village. A fierce battle ensued between Shi Wu’s forces and the intruders.
Xiao Liu, who finally grown up as teenager was in shock and disbelief at the brutality, he had witnessed in Xiangshan Village.
Although Xiao Lu was shuanger but he knew some martial art and helped against the attack. Suddenly Hong Luo pushed him to the ground to avoid an attack. She instantly fighting with the attacker.
Xiao Lu was in daze and someone came to him with machete, he thought he was going to die then a strong arrow flew in and made the machete fell into the ground. Then, one tall and handsome man, who appeared somewhat familiar to Xiao Liu, reached out to help him.
Then, a group of soldiers jumped up to kill the intruders. After the dust settled, Xiao Liu was still stunned and didn’t react.
Finally, Shi Mo ran out to find Shi Liu, when he saw him covered in blood and had dumbfounded expression. He hugged him and checked the younger shuanger up and down. He wiped the blood on Shi Liu’s face, “Xiao Liu, are you injured?”
Shi Liu shook his head blankly and said no. He secretly glanced at the man next to him, the man looked at him like he wanted to eat Shi Liu which was very scary to him.
“Eldest brother.” A low and magnetic voice sounded, which stunned Shi Liu and Shi Mo. They both looked at the towering, well-built man with a familiar face.
Shi Liu, still in disbelief, gazed at the man. Shi Mo, overcome with emotion, embraced the man who was, in fact, Shi Wu.
Shi Liu looked at the man beside him, he was only five years old when his fourth brother left home and he almost forgotten everything about him.
As Shi Wu comforted Shi Mo, he noticed Shi Liu staring at him. Thirteen years had passed since he had left home, and his youngest brother had grown up. The memory of his little brother’s appearance was hazy, but he couldn’t have imagined the striking figure before him.
When Shi Liu’s eyes met Shi Wu’s, the man was transfixed by the young shuanger’s beautiful and enchanting face. He was captivated by the bright lotus between Shi Liu’s brows and the red mole beneath his eye.
Shi Liu tried to read Shi Wu’s expression but felt that his fourth brother didn’t seem to like him. Shi Wu’s gaze felt almost as if he wanted to devour him. Shi Liu wondered if he had been too distant, making his brother feel estranged.
With these thoughts, he turned to gaze at Shi Wu with innocent, watery eyes and uttered, “Fourth brother.”
Shi Wu responded with a smile and rubbed his head with his large hand. “Xiao Liu, you’ve grown up and can attack enemy now.”
When Shi Liu heard this his face got warm and almost lost control of his sword but he said nothing. Shi Mo laughed beside him and pulled the man inside.
.
As they left, each family cleaned up the bloodstains on the road. Many villagers in the village had lost their lives, and Xiangshan Village was enveloped in a somber atmosphere. The heartbreaking cries filled the air. Despite their reunion, they had to comfort the grieving villagers; there was no time to be idle.
Shi Liu and Hong Luo counted the casualties in the village and used funds from the soap and jade workshops to support the affected households. It took nearly half a month to bury all the deceased villagers, but gradually, the remaining villagers who had lost their loved ones began to recover.
Shi Wu’s army remained stationed there, with two houses set aside for their accommodation. Shi Wu moved to live together with Shi Mo and Shi Liu, he had his own room while Aunt Hong and Hong Luo shared another. Shi Liu also had a room to himself, adjacent to Aunt Hong’s, separated only by a door. Shi Mo, on the other hand, had moved to the front yard.
Initially, Shi Wu didn’t find anything unusual about living in the same house. However, every time Shi Wu walked past Shi Liu after washing up. The young shuanger saw him with his naked muscular chest and they would accidentally bump into each other a few times on their way from the door to the next room.
This always made Shi Liu blush and his heart race. The more Shi Wu noticed his shyness, the more he enjoyed teasing him, occasionally blocking the young shuanger way in a mischievous manner. This led to an accidental encounter where they collided with each other, Shi Wu’s strong arms was hugging Shi Liu and the young shuanger had his hands against the strong bare chest. The sensation of the hot skin under his hands made Shi Liu’s entire body tingle, and his face turned crimson from his neck to his cheeks.
