I Thought It Was a Fairy Tale but the Genre Is Strange

chapter 27

The Three Little Pigs (7)

Thump, thump

It felt like someone was using my heart as a trampoline. My lungs shrank, and I covered my mouth to stop myself from breathing. I could hear the wolf sniffing the air in the living room. Damn, wolves have a good sense of smell too! It’s only a matter of time before he finds me. I haven’t even hidden yet!

“Ah~ I smell it. The scent of a coward trembling in fear of being eaten!”

Thud, thud. The wolf’s footsteps were heading straight for the kitchen where I was. Damn it, check the other rooms or the living room properly! Coming straight here is cheating!

“Hide well~ Or your hair will show~”

Who knew that song could be so creepy. Think! Use your brain! Come up with a way for the wolf to find me even a little bit later! Find the best way to survive here!!

Thump, thump.

The footsteps are getting louder. If I don’t hide right now, I’m as good as dead. As I wandered around, not knowing what to do, something tripped me.

“Hehehe, is it there!”

****

The wolf entered the kitchen, drooling. He stood still for a moment, surveying the kitchen. Flour covered everything like snow. He picked up a torn flour bag and sniffed it.

The old flour reeked of mold. He grimaced at the stench and threw the bag aside. It was certain that the boy was hiding here. The old flour’s stench had masked it, but he could still smell the boy. He was hiding here. The wolf grinned, baring his gums.

Thick drops of saliva dripped from his mouth. The wolf hummed a tune as he moved slowly.

“Hide well~ Or your hair will show~”

The wolf was already thrilled. The boy hiding would be feeling terror at his song and every move, praying to God for mercy.

The wolf loved these moments the most. The moment when his prey trembled in fear.

He deliberately opened the ceiling cabinets slowly. They were too small for a human teenager to hide in, but that didn’t matter. What mattered was the fear his actions instilled in the prey nearby, afraid of being discovered.

Thinking of the boy holding his breath, heart pounding, brought him ecstasy. Ah, he couldn’t wait. He wanted to catch the boy and savor the taste immediately.

He wanted to see the despair on the boy’s face when he was caught, the helplessness of being eaten alive.

He had already pinpointed the boy’s location by scent. Even through the thick stench of flour, the boy’s tantalizing scent seeped out.

But he couldn’t rush. He had to savor this delightful game of hide-and-seek. Eating too quickly would give him indigestion. He would chew slowly, even this moment.

The wolf hummed as he opened the cabinets one by one. Finally, he stood in front of the cabinet next to the boiling cauldron. It was big enough for an adult man. What expression would the boy have now? What thoughts would he be harboring?

Ah, he couldn’t stand it! Not at all!

“Hehehe, I think you’re here, hmm~?”

Creeeeak.

“Do you think I would fall this easily? Hahaha! You may have used your brain, but the winner of this hide-and-seek is me!”

The wolf laughed loudly and tried to raise his upper body. I tried to force him down, but his ridiculous core strength and muscles pushed me back. Ugh, his body is like a rock, it doesn’t even budge!

Just as my plan to end him by putting him in the cauldron like in a fairy tale was about to go up in smoke.

A blood-splattered object whizzed past my face. Thud! With a dull thud, blood spurted from the wolf’s nose. Hit directly by the mace, his head snapped back and his body began to fall.

“Hahaha, wolf stew would be delicious too!”

I had never been so glad to hear Alice’s voice from behind. I grinned and pushed the wolf with all my might to get him into the cauldron.

The wolf, whose eyes had rolled back showing only the whites, was on the verge of fainting. Suddenly, his pupils focused and returned to their original position.

“Do you think I would be defeated this easily!!!!”

The wolf wriggled his thick thighs like a horse and resisted. His sharp hand darted towards my face to crush it.

Ssssh! The boiling water in the giant cauldron spewed steam and rose, wrapping around the wolf’s body.

“Ah, hot!!!”

The wolf screamed and tried to escape the boiling water, but the water, like a living snake, wrapped tighter around his body and dragged him into the cauldron.

Splash!

The sound of him falling into the boiling water was refreshing. The wolf’s face, red and scalded, popped out of the cauldron. Bloodshot eyes. Heat radiating from his entire body. The arrogant look was gone, replaced by the unimaginable pain of his body cooking.

“aaah! It’s hot! Too hot, blub blub!!”

[That’s the perfect ending for you. You should be boiled and eaten too!]

Ariel appeared with her red hair flicking and a haughty face. She immediately linked arms with me and stuck her tongue out at the wolf, taunting him.

The wolf tried to escape but was immediately dragged back into the water. Alice laughed like a girl watching a funny comedy movie.

“Hahaha! Where’s the spirit you had when you said you’d eat us? Huh? If you don’t come out quickly, you’ll be cooked to death~”

“Puh! I, I can’t die like this!!!”

The wolf’s face emerged again. But it was weaker than before, with only its snout slightly protruding. The cauldron that had swallowed the massive wolf was diligently doing its job. The wolf, which had struggled desperately to survive, no longer surfaced from the water.

The kitchen fell silent. I stared into the bubbling cauldron.

“Is it over?”

“Hmph, that was bland. Shall we try the taste of wolf meat later?”

[Why are you so eager to eat? I think your appetite is stronger than that wolf’s.]

“Kyaahaha~ I’m curious~ You want to eat it too, don’t you? Let’s roast the pig first.”

“Well, I don’t really want to eat it.”

As we turned around, chatting idly.

“Graaah! I’ll swallow you all!!!!”

A hot spray of water erupted, and a wolf, red all over, leaped out from behind. The wolf’s fur had all fallen off, revealing its bare flesh.

“aaargh!!!”

This time, my reflexes kicked in immediately. I instinctively swung the sickle I was holding at the hideous wolf charging at me, and the smooth side of the blade struck the wolf’s head.

“Ugh!”

The wolf’s eyes widened, and its body stiffened as if paralyzed. Then it fell backward into the cauldron.

Bubble bubble bubble.

The wolf really didn’t come out anymore. Instead, it was cooked to a delicious-looking state. Though I didn’t want to eat it, of course.
