Chapter 53: Chapter 53 The second character card!
The collapse of Saint Charlos plunged the Celestial Dragon's ship into complete chaos.
Everyone on board panicked, rushing around Saint Charlos, who had fallen, their foreheads covered in a cold sweat. They completely ignored the other refugee ships and Sig.
"This won't work... The medical facilities on this ship are insufficient. We need to get to a fully equipped hospital..."
"Then turn the ship around immediately and head to Goa Kingdom's capital! We're already close; we have to hurry!"
The man in the white mask watched as Saint Charlos collapsed and as the medical staff frantically began emergency treatment.
He suddenly turned his head, his cold and angry gaze piercing through the mask, landing on Sig, who was on the opposing ship.
"All of you, protect Saint Charlos! Make sure nothing happens to him during the emergency treatment!"
The voice from behind the mask carried a hint of fury.
This Celestial Dragon ship had to head to the hospital in Goa Kingdom right away, but… he couldn't just leave like this!
The bodyguards around him, seeing the white-masked man seemingly about to make a move, felt a chill in their hearts.
They each had their own concerns.
If the Celestial Dragon died, they might all be buried with him.
But that pirate on the other ship, with his strange, invisible methods of attack, made them just as fearful.
"My lord, the enemy's attack is strange and unpredictable. If they're planning to lure the tiger away from the mountain, we fear that once you leave, we won't have the strength to ensure Saint Charlos's safety..."
"Perhaps you could wait just a moment, my lord, until all the strongest fighters on board are gathered together. Then, with complete security, heading out won't delay things by more than a few minutes..."
The white-masked man let out a cold snort, and his departing figure came to an abrupt halt.
On the other side, the entire refugee fleet erupted into earth-shaking cheers!
"Sig!"
"Mr. Sig actually did it! The Celestial Dragon has fallen!"
"The Celestial Dragon has fallen! Does this mean we might have a chance to leave the Grey Terminal alive?"
"He's a hero! Who is he, to willingly attack a Celestial Dragon to protect the refugee fleet?"
The refugees and Revolutionary Army fighters, feeling as though they'd just escaped certain death, began to cheer, tears streaming down their faces.
On the pirate ship, Ivankov stared blankly at Sig beside him.
After unleashing that Infernal Unmatched Explosive Heat Wave Cannon, the aura of Sig's Conqueror's Haki, which came with its own sound effects, had significantly subsided (actually, he just turned off the loudspeaker).
For a moment earlier, even Ivankov had deeply doubted Sig.
Ivankov, being no weakling himself, was standing so close yet hadn't detected any trace of an attack from Sig. It had been nothing more than pure bluffing!
But… the facts spoke louder than words!
Although no one knew how Sig had done it, his attack had not only been invisible but had also bypassed even CP0's defense!
The sea is vast, and the strong in this world possess all kinds of strange and peculiar methods of attack.
Take Ivankov, for instance—his own method of attack involved blinking his dazzling, glamorous eyes at an extreme speed, creating explosive gusts through rapid blinking!
Having an equally odd fighting style himself, Ivankov quickly accepted the notion that Sig's technique must be "some bizarre form of attack."
"Sig-boy! You've done something even we of the Revolutionary Army couldn't achieve!"
"You're truly a hero! To protect the refugees, you took the initiative to attack a Celestial Dragon!"
Ivankov and the Revolutionary Army fighters around him were nearly moved to tears.
As for Sig, his expression couldn't hide his joy.
Of course, he didn't care about the cheers or what others thought of him.
At the exact moment he struck down the Celestial Dragon, Saint Charlos, Sig heard the long-awaited, heavenly sound that was music to his ears—the system notification sound!
"The compatibility of your first character card has reached 70%! (MISSING) Reward: One chance to draw a random character card!"
So, acquiring new cards really depended on improving the compatibility of character cards!
Sig was on the verge of tears.
His Shadow Emperor System, while comically absurd in its abilities, was usually aloof to the extreme, answering questions sparingly. Even figuring out how to obtain new character cards was something he had to discover on his own.
Without hesitation, Sig focused his thoughts, submerging his mind into a brilliant galaxy of stars.
"Let's begin! Activate Lucky Emperor Mode! I'm drawing a card!"
In the endless sea of stars, countless points of starlight converged. When the light faded, a silver card appeared before him.
Silver? Could it be of a lower grade than the gold-backed S-class cards? No, no—this must be a platinum card exclusive to Lucky Emperors, a card of SSSSS-class quality!
As his imagination ran wild, the card flipped over, and silver radiance spilled forth in a dazzling display.
The front of the card revealed a man dressed in traditional Chinese-style robes, with short facial hair and jet-black hair tied neatly behind his head.
The man's long sword was already unsheathed. Standing with the sword in hand, he exuded a stern and commanding aura.
"A swordsman? He doesn't look weak..."
Sig's gaze shifted downward, and the moment he saw the card's name, he was utterly stunned.
Character Card: Li Jing
Grade: A-Class
"Although it's an A-Class card… it's actually Li Jing, the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King!"
"This really is Lucky Emperor Mode! Whether it's Li Jing during his time as the commander of Chen Tang Pass or his role as the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King after being deified, he's undoubtedly a powerhouse!"
Excited, Sig continued reading the details.
Source: One Hundred Thousand Bad Jokes
Abilities:
- Shang Dynasty's Number One Swordsman: Li Jing's achievements in swordsmanship reached the pinnacle of mortal sword techniques in his original world.
- Perfectly Countered by Barehanded Blade Catch: Whenever using swords, blades, or techniques derived from Li Jing's swordsmanship, there's a high chance of being perfectly countered barehanded.
"Alright, so he's the Shang Dynasty's Number One Swordsman who can't actually cut anyone…"
The absurdity just kept piling on.
After equipping the card, Sig's consciousness returned to the outside world. His first action was to draw the blade at his waist, carefully examine it, and let out a soft sigh.
Who would've thought that his legendary battle with Axe Emperor Morgan would already become a thing of the past?
Unless he unequipped the character card, Sig likely wouldn't be able to engage in an exhilarating sword duel with anyone ever again!
Sig's mindset was starting to crack. What he initially thought was a powerful card turned out to be another absurd joke.
Unable to hold back his frustration, he hurled the blade in his hand with all his strength straight into the sea!
"Sig-boy, what are you doing?" Ivankov asked curiously.
Before Sig could respond, a massive shadow emerged from the sea.
It was an enormous crocodile-like sea beast, its body roughly a third the size of their large pirate ship. Its crimson eyes were already locked onto Sig, standing on the deck.
And on top of the sea beast's head was Sig's recently thrown blade, stuck in at an awkward angle.
"The Lord of the Coast!"
"That's the overlord of the waters surrounding the Goa Kingdom!" someone exclaimed in shock.
