I Shall Pervert the Heavens

The legendary boss final form has been internet joke in Filipino for a while back when Zach first started gaming.

With most even saying things like:

"When the boss's HP drop to red bar and you start hearing Catholic song on the background."

"When the boss HP drops to red bar and it instantly refill and it's strength double too."

"When the boss HP drops to red bar and you immediately killed it which feels easy, making you feel odd. Only to hear Roman song start playing."

All those memes pointed at one thing: Boss final form!

Most of the Blessed in the room were frozen with fear, not just because of the appearance of the Super Boss, but because of the aura he was giving off. It was as if the humans were looking at the personification of Death itself. The large monster at that moment embodied the end of life in their minds. Time seemed to freeze for the Blessed, especially for the weakest among them who felt that pressure several times stronger, it was the same kind of feeling an average civilian get after being pointed a gun. Scary and at the same time makes ones brain short-circuit, temporarily freezing their thoughts and making time feel slower.

The rat screamed as it glared at the one who had burned it, before running toward him to take revenge, Zach noticed it's speed was different.

But Zach was no different only in appearance. Unlike the others frozen here, his demon form refused to bow beneath that aura, plus he was also a dungeon final boss too! Why should he feel scared and froze before someone who was only a bit stronger than him? Never. The pressure that made humans quiver only fanned the flames of his fighting will. Instead of freezing, he let out a guttural roar that echoed through the chamber and met the charging beast head-on.

When the Rat King dashed at him with its red-hot eyes, Zach's crimson fist smashed forward, colliding with the monster's skull. The impact rattled his own bones and forced him back a step, nearly staggering him off balance, but it was enough. The beast paused mid-dash, its momentum broken, shock flickering in its feral eyes.

The opening was all the others needed.

"WAKE UP! IF YOU DO NOT WAKE UP, WE WILL ALL DIE!" the scarred man roared as he drove his sword into the monster's neck, twisting it ferociously and pulling it out to quickly escape from it's incoming attack.

The sound jolted several of the Blessed from their paralysis. Weapons were drawn, feet scrambled forward, and they surged to support the scarred man against the Rat King who was injured again in it's boss form.

Zach steadied himself, fire crackling faintly between his claws, watching the scarred man with brief surprise. The man had shaken off the pressure quickly, quicker than most which also shows how strong his mental state was. But instead of rushing in blindly, Zach summoned a small, unstable fireball and held it at the ready, waiting for the perfect chance.

The Rat King lashed out in fury, swiping its claws and snapping its teeth at those who dared to confront it. In the chaos, the scarred man was slashed across the torso, blood spilling freely, but still he shouted for the others to keep pressing forward.

One of the Blessed women lunged with her blade, but the monster moved faster than her eyes could follow. Its gaping maw intercepted her strike and with one brutal bite tore a chunk out of her shoulder. Her scream rang through the enclosed chamber, reverberating like a death knell.

Yet the rat's distraction gave Zach his moment. While the beast's mouth was still half-open, concentrating on its next victim, it failed to notice the unnatural fireball streaking toward it.

The Rat King screeched in agony as the flame burned against its flesh.

Some of the Blessed cheered, believing victory was at hand. But Zach's sharpened senses caught something else: the sound of claws scraping stone from the tunnels nearby. He turned to shout a warning, but the cry came too late.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaarggggghhhh!!!!" The teenager who had fawned over Harry earlier shrieked as massive fangs clamped down on her calf, blood spraying from the bite of a smaller rat that had joined the fray.

"Be careful! It has called for it's followers to attack!" One of the men roared loudly.

The sudden ambush snapped the others into awareness. Their eyes darted to the surrounding tunnels, weapons ready, no longer blind to the reinforcements crawling in.

This was exactly what Zach had dreaded. Berserk form. The Rat King's roar had summoned every lesser rat within reach. That was why the team had thinned their numbers earlier—so this very moment wouldn't be their downfall.

"Blessed with long range, focus on killing the smaller rats while we hold the King! Be quick, as we won't be able to hold on for long!" the scarred man barked, blood still pouring from his wound.

The group scrambled to obey. Harry hurled razor-sharp shards of ice with a furious grimace, cursing under his breath. "Hell, hell, hell! I'm a Rank D Blessed, I shouldn't die in a Rank F junk fortress! These filthy bastards—when I get out of here, I'll make these damn F-Ranks pay!"

Wendy pressed her hands to the wound of the girl bitten by the smaller rat, trying to stem the blood. But her eyes kept drifting back toward Zach. "He… that flame of his does a lot of damage to the boss. He's definitely not just a Rank F. Damn it, Amy, if you hadn't…"

Zach ignored the voices or maybe didn't even hear it due to the situation. He moved with full focus, every ounce of practiced footwork and mobility being pushed to their limits. He wove between rats, claws carving space, waiting for the exact opening he needed to finish this.

The Rat King's body was torn with cuts, but it still snapped and lunged at every human within reach. Fireballs could hurt it, but not kill it—not yet. And Zach knew his energy was draining. The fireball he was preparing would have to be decisive.
