Chapter 111: The Wink!
The dance floor wasn't far from their table, which gave Khushi the perfect view point to observe Alex's reaction.
She watched him carefully nothing could escape her eyes noting his stillness, his apparent lack of response to Tanya's obvious advances.
Her eyes practically gleamed with satisfaction.
This was going exactly according to plan.
Tanya was the absolute best among all her friends when it came to this sort of thing.
She was a expert, a professional when it came to wrapping men around her finger.
Khushi had seen her magic do wonders countless times grown men can be reduced to stuttering mess, guys with girlfriends suddenly forgetting that they have girlfriends too, confident playboys often get played themselves.
If anyone could crack Alex's composure, it would be Tanya.
A security guard like him? He wouldn't stand a chance.
Let's see how long this guy can keep up his act.
Khushi thought smugly, crossing her arms as she watched the scene unfold before her eyes.
The moment he gives in to temptation, his true nature will show up and then Riya will be finally able see what kind of man this security guard truly is....just like other men who think with nothing but their lower bodies once they see a women.
In her mind all this she was doing was for Riya's own good, even if her friend couldn't see it right now.
Someone had to protect her from making a huge mistake with someone so obviously beneath her.
Riya, I really didn't want to resort to something like this.
But this security guard left me no choice. Everything I'm doing is for your benefit. You'll understand eventually.
Khushi genuinely believed she was being the perfect protective friend.
She was going to extraordinary lengths to expose Alex for what he really was, and surely Riya would appreciate her efforts once the truth came out.
It was practically a public service.
Satisfied with how things were progressing, Khushi made her move.
She sidled up to Tanya on the dance floor, catching her friend's attention with a subtle gesture.
"Tanya," she whispered, leaning in close enough to be heard over the music, "you need to step it up. Use your secret weapon fast."
She gave Tanya a meaningful wink, and Tanya immediately understood.
Every woman had her signature move to look sexy, and Tanya's secret weapon was legendary among their friend group.
The wink.
It wasn't just any ordinary wink either.
Tanya had perfected the art over years of practice.
Her eyes were naturally large and expressive, the kind that could convey entire conversations without saying a word.
Whenever she finally use her special winking technique, grown men no matter how saintly they are, they all had been known to lose their ability to form coherent sentences.
Got it, It was time to bring out the big guns.
Tanya thought, gearing up for her finishing move.
Time to end this little farce.
With renewed determination, she positioned herself even closer to Alex, continuing her brushing against him while preparing to unleash her most devastating weapon.
She took a deep breath, made sure she had the perfect angle, and then...
Wink!
She put everything she had into it, the kind of slow, deliberate wink that had never failed her before.
But Alex didn't even seem to notice, so she tried again.
Another wink, even more dramatic than the first!
Still nothing. Alex continued his conversation with Riya as if Tanya wasn't even there.
Panic started to set in her.
This technique which she is so proud of had never failed her before.
Maybe he had not seen it properly?
She needed to be more obvious.
Wink after wink, each one more exaggerated than the last.
She was practically having a blinking contest with herself at this point, but Alex remained completely unresponsive to her advances.
Finally, after what felt like her hundredth attempt, Alex turned to Riya with a genuinely confused expression on his face.
"Hey, Riya, look at that girl," he said, pointing towards Tanya without bothering to lower his voice.
"She keeps blinking like crazy. Do you think she's having some kind of seizure? Should we call the ambulance?"
"Pfft!"
Riya couldn't help herself anymore after that comment.
She burst out laughing so hard that she nearly choked on her drink.
She'd been getting increasingly annoyed watching this woman throw herself at Alex, but hearing his completely innocent interpretation of the situation was absolutely hilarious.
The poor Alex genuinely thought Tanya was having some kind of seizure.
Tanya too heard every word and felt her world tilt sideways.
She stumbled nearly losing her balance completely as the reality of the situation hit her like a truck.
No way.
This could not be happening.
Did this impossibly handsome man seriously think she was having a seizure?
How could anyone be that oblivious to her signature move?
I am throwing my best efforts at him, and he was worried about mine health?
This was beyond depressing.
This was a complete blow to her pride.
All those years of perfecting her technique, all the confidence she'd built up from countless successful encounters with men.
They all have boosted her ego, but now she felt her cheeks burn with embarrassment as the full absurdity of the situation sank in.
From her view point, Khushi watched in growing horror as her foolproof plan fell apart in the most unexpected way possible.
After all this wasn't how she had planned it to go.
Alex was supposed to be all over Tanya by now, proving himself to be just another predictable man.
Instead, he was acting like a concerned man worried about a stranger's wellbeing.
What kind of man was completely immune to Tanya's charms?
It didn't make sense.
There had to be something wrong with him, or maybe he was just playing hard to get.
Either way, this was not the outcome she'd been expecting.
She have to think it fast and soon otherwise she will lose her friend forever.
