Chapter 109: Khushi’s Small loss
Khushi was raging at heart, her chest going up and down with each and every second.
Though she had prepared herself mentally, the harsh reality of what was happening before her very eyes still hit her like a sick joke.
It was still difficult for her to believe that Riya, the one she had respected as intelligent, gorgeous, and well-educated, could land up in something so irresponsible, so below herself of her status.
Why was she humiliating herself this way? How could she not see the truth staring her right in her face?
Khushi tightened her fists.
No! I can't just stand by and let her destroy her life.
I have to rescue my friend from the clutches of his wicked hands and reveal the real face of this so-called security guard.
A cold resolve crossed her eyes.
If only she would see what I see the money-worshiping quality that lies in the marrow of every man then surely she would realize that and leave this madness behind.
Taking a deep breath, Khushi made herself behave calmly.
She straightened her spine, smoothed out her face, and slightly tilted up her chin as if nothing could ruffle her.
Within her, though, her mind was already made up: she would defend her friend no matter what, even if it meant using any means necessary for her own protection.
Forcing a smile that barely made it to her eyes, she extended a hand and took Riya's slender one.
"Come on, Riya," she said in feigned good spirits, "let's go in and have a good time tonight."
Riya blinked, momentarily caught off guard, her lips parting as if she wanted to protest.
But before a single word could escape her lips, Khushi tightened her grip and tugged with firm insistence.
With all the elegance of a hostess and the determination of a general, she dragged Riya forward, weaving through the crowd without giving her friend a chance to resist.
Alex raised his eyebrows at Riya's friend, sensing something off in her behavior.
His intuition told him she was up to something.
But Alex didn't care. He just smiled faintly.
How could he be bothered by such petty tricks?
And so—
Alex walked into the Queen Bar alone with a grace of gentleman, not minding the stares around him.
The Queen Bar, famous across the Mumbai, was known for its luxurious décor, huge dance floor, and top-notch sound system.
It was one of the most popular nightlife spots for youngsters.
Of course, the price also matched the reputation.
A simple fruit plate cost several hundred dollars at the very least.
A dozen regular beers could run over a thousand dollars.
Private rooms started at ten thousand minimum.
Spending a night here easily cost several ten thousands.
Khushi kept glancing at Alex who was trailing behind her, her mind already working on how to break his calm facade.
To her, couples that are dating should be equal in status.
And Alex? A mere security guard dare to have intentions on dating a girl that he can't even dream.
In her mind she could already see his place at the bottom of the ladder, a ladder which he could never climb to reach Riya with his current job.
Riya is way different from him in both status and wealth, where she is an heiress from a family worth tens of billions.
And where is he earning just enough to get by.
The disparity between them is clear to all... or that what she thought.
Khushi would never allow her friend to be dragged down by someone so lowly, not in a billion years.
So she had an idea already to make sure to separate them:
The idea? Simple, she would use the bill to scare him off.
She will let him see the gap between their worlds.
After all, what Riya could spent in one night could be more than his salary for a whole decade.
Khushi smirked and said, "Hehe, Riya finally has a boyfriend. I'm so happy today. How about I treat you tonight guys?"
In her mind, no man would ever accept such an offer. He would surely insist on paying himself.
But Alex did not seem to play by those rules at all.
Alex while couldn't guess her thoughts completely he can still guess it somewhat so a playful thought crossed his mind, and with a calm smile, he replied, "Alright then. You can treat me. It's been a long time since anyone treated me. Since Miss is so generous, I'll accept it."
"Plop!"
Khushi nearly tripped over.
What was going on?!Why was not he following the original script? How could he shamelessly let her pay? A girl!
They get themselves a nice cozy place to sit temporarily and Alex picked up the menu handed over by the waiter.
With a bright smile, he said, "Open a private room for us, bring two bottles of 1982 Lafite, and the best fruit plate you can offer and the kind with cherries please! That'll be all for now, thank you!"
The waiter smiled warmly and replied respectfully, "Okay, I'll arrange that right away. Please wait a moment, sir."
A short while later the order was arranged and waiter placed the bill under the wine table which they have to pay once they were checking out.
Khushi, when she tried to see the bill with her side eye almost vomited blood when she saw it.
Two bottles of 1982 Lafite that's $10,000!
Oh my god!
It wasn't that she couldn't afford the money, but she had wanted to trick Alex.
Instead, she ended up being tricked by him, leaving her extremely frustrated in her heart.
In the end, Khushi could only keep a bright smile on her face, though she was already cursing his ten generations to come in her heart.
"Hehe!"
"What a guy without the slightest gentlemanly demeanor in him! He even dared to take advantage of this opportunity to order things that he couldn't think of buying it himself!"
Khushi's resentment and prejudice toward Alex only grew.
