Chapter 34: The Fall of Heroes - Overlord's Wrath
I took a stance, a dark aura enveloping my body.
[BALANCE BREAKER: OVERLORD]
Noa Genesis's gauntlet pulsed, and fragments of dragon energy armor emerged from my hands, enveloping my body from shoulder to toe. Black discs coated with a black rainbow light core formed, creating a living demon-dragon armor. My breath shook the air, and the ground beneath my feet cracked like a spiderweb.
Rena stepped beside me, her face expressionless.
[HELL GATE]
Pillars of black flame exploded around her, forming a layer of pitch-black armor engraved with crimson hellish runes. Her two swords were now wrapped in a thick aura of darkness, vibrating with bloodlust. From the ground, shadows tried to rise to the surface and shroud her steps.
Seeing us ready, the three heroes drew their powers.
Darius Stormpierce spun his spear, storm energy swirling with his movements. The spearhead emitted a deafening hiss of electricity.
Garruk Ironfist raised his lava axe, a magma aura dripping from the blade and burning the ground around him.
Elrodan Lunethiel, his arms shattered, glared vengefully. Moon magic erupted from his body, solidifying into air runes. He no longer needed a bow—he was the source of magic itself.
I made the first move.
ZWOOSH!
My body vanished instantly, appearing directly in front of Darius the Spear Hero. My Noa Genesis-clad right fist slammed down.
BOOM!
Our collision created a new crater. Darius parried with the pommel of his spear, sparks of lightning streaking the air.
I struck again, left-right-up-down, my fists like meteors. Darius spun his spear rapidly, creating a storm circle that blocked every one of my attacks.
"Fast, but I can handle it!" he growled, then thrust his spear.
[PIERCING TEMPEST]
Hundreds of wind energy thrusts rained down on me. I raised my gauntlet, and the dark aura absorbed some, but the rest penetrated my armor and split the ground behind me into a long chasm.
On the other side, Rena danced before Garruk, her two swords clashing with a giant axe, each swing of which could split a house.
[VOLCANIC CLEAVER]
Garruk's axe slammed down. The ground cracked, lava gushing from the cracks.
Rena leaped upward, twisting her body gracefully like a dancer of death.
[SHADOW DANCE]
Dozens of shadows attacked Garruk from every direction, stabbing, slashing, and cutting. But this time, each shadow moved with a palpable sadism—they didn't just attack, but cut slowly, savoring every drop of blood that spilled from Garruk's body.
"What the... argh!" Garruk growled in pain, his body covered in deep cuts. But his axe spun wildly, destroying the shadows one by one in blind rage.
"Take it slow, Axe Hero," Rena whispered with a cold smile, her eyes glinting sadistically. "I'll cut you apart bit by bit."
"Little woman, I'll break your head!" Garruk shouted, then launched an axe blow at Rena.
BOOM!
The impact created an explosion of lava. Rena was sent flying, her hellish armor cracking, but her cruel smile remained.
Meanwhile, Elrodan raised his hand, his face full of pain and burning vengeance.
"For the daughter you took... for the future you destroyed..." he whispered, his voice trembling. "You will feel all the pain she felt!"
[MOONLIGHT VOLLEY]
Dozens of arrows of light emerged from the air, each vibrating with the rage of a father who had lost everything. They shot at Rena and me simultaneously.
I struck the ground with my gauntlet.
[DARK STINGER]
Pillars of darkness rose from the ground, destroying dozens of moon arrows. But a few managed to penetrate, burning through my Overlord armor and tearing through my shoulder.
Rena spun her swords.
[VOID PARALLEL]
Her two swords moved in a black circle, swallowing some of the moon arrows, but the holy light still managed to penetrate and burn her arm.
Elrodan smiled coldly, tears mixed with revenge streaming down his cheeks. "You think you can win against the light? You will be destroyed by my own revenge."
I grinned, black blood dripping from my temples.
"Light? I will make it fade. Starting with the three of you."
I planted my feet on the ground, a dark aura exploding, mingling with the rainbow-black energy of Noa Genesis.
I struck Darius relentlessly, my fists shooting like meteors, each blow shattering the air and creating shockwaves. His spear trembled under the pressure, cracks beginning to appear in the ground where he stood.
"Hahaha, Darius, you're much weaker than I remembered," I taunted as I continued to rain down attacks.
Darius's temples tensed. His eyes blazed with anger.
"Don't underestimate me, demon!" he shouted.
His spear's movements accelerated, stabbing from multiple directions, each thrust shrouded in a storm of wind and lightning.
I grinned broadly. "Good job! Entertain me a little longer, Darius!"
Suddenly, a large shadow loomed from the side. Garruk leaped with his giant axe, his brutal swing aimed for my head.
CLANG!
The attack was blocked by Rena's two black swords, which appeared right behind me. An explosion of dark aura mixed with magma flames split the ground.
"Ho? The Axe Hero attacking from behind?" Rena smiled coldly, her eyes flashing red. "So you're just a coward."
"Shut up, woman! Get away from me!" Garruk roared, the veins in his arms bulging as he pressed his axe with all his might.
"If you want to pass, kill me first." Rena endured the pressure calmly, the hellish aura from her armor pulsing wildly, her two swords reflecting a dark red light.
Meanwhile, Elrodan stood in the distance. His shattered arms could no longer hold a bow, but that didn't stop him. Moon runes appeared around his body, forming a magic circle that spun faster and faster.
White light enveloped the air, every particle prickling at the skin.
"This will end you, demons," he whispered.
Moon energy concentrated in front of him, forming a giant arrow of light. The air trembled, as if even the sky feared its power.
The attack was finally unleashed. Elrodan's giant arrow of light shot forth, its sound roaring like a thousand sacred bells ringing at once. Its energy tore through the air, a white streak ripping through the sky, heading straight for me.
I slammed into Darius with a fist filled with darkness. BOOM! His body was sent flying, crashing into the ruins of a house, sending bricks flying. With a single movement, I turned to face the light that was about to engulf me.
I took a stance, my dark wings spread wide, a black aura roaring like a hellish storm.
"Noa… ready?" I whispered into my gauntlet.
"Always ready, My Lord," Noa's deep voice replied, echoing from within its metal.
I raised my right hand. The dark aura gathered into a spinning core, pulsing furiously as if trying to tear reality apart.
[CHARIOT]
A blast of energy was released, my dark fist smashing through the air, exploding the ground around me.
"Noa—BUFF IT!"
[BOOST]
My gauntlet glowed rainbow-black, its power multiplied, a wave of destruction hurtling toward Elrodan's light arrow.
The two attacks collided.
KRAAAAAAANGGGGGGG!!!
The sound of the collision was like a thousand worlds collapsing. White light and pitch-black darkness collided, creating a storm of energy that engulfed the entire field. The sky split, the ground cracked, and the air sizzled with heat and cold.
The massive explosion threw the five of us in all directions. Rena, Selena, Darius, and even Garruk were thrown flying, our bodies battered by the energy wave, which pierced the rubble and created new craters.
Garruk rose from the rubble in shock, his eyes in disbelief as he watched Darius lie limp.
"Impossible... The Spear Hero can't possibly..."
Elrodan, though his body trembling in pain, remained standing, his eyes filled with revenge. "No... it's not over yet. Not yet!"
I rose from the rubble, my body still engulfed in flames of darkness. Without wasting time, I charged straight at Darius, who was still staggering, unprepared after the explosion.
"Feel this," I said coldly.
My right fist, coated in a pitch-black aura, slammed into his stomach.
BOOM!!!
"ARGGGHHHH!!!"
Darius's scream erupted, blood mixed with lightning spraying from his mouth as the air was forced from his lungs. His legendary spear cracked in half, tiny cracks spreading along the hilt. The storm of energy that had enveloped his body was extinguished instantly, like a fire extinguished by torrential rain. His body was thrown dozens of meters, hitting the ground hard, creating a small crater, his body twitching weakly in a pool of his own blood.
Garruk stared in horror, his axe trembling in his hand. "Darius... the mighty Spear Hero... defeated..."
Elrodan gritted his teeth, tears of revenge flowing freely. "NO! THIS CAN'T HAPPEN!"
I took a deep breath, a faint smile appearing on my face.
"Phew... how exciting," I muttered, turning my head, glaring at the other two heroes—Elrodan and Garruk—who were now preparing to return with faces full of anger and fear.
