Chapter 595: Midnight vs Rebecca
Three parties were fighting over one portrait, each having their own goals and each thinking the others' resolve are misplaced.
Rebecca wanted to end Malice's bloodline by breaking the protrait, killing the one inside it. Trick wanted to escape with the portrait with Melissa still inside to prevent Malice from seeking them. When Malice is ended, then she will break the princess out.
Francoise, Midnight and Sun wants to break Melissa out of the portrait to avoid it being broken and her to be killed inside. Their differences are causing them to fight over which was to be followed.
"Selfish people," Rebecca sighed. "You really think anyone in this world could defeat Malice? She won't die unless she is killed and that's not going to happen. She's the strongest being below the Absolutes and all of you know that."
"You're wrong!" Midnight yelled. "Elliot and his friends will defeat her. They will slay the Black Queen and bring peace to Hell."
"Peace was never the answer to anything," Trick chuckled. "You'd think Hell was ever peaceful? Long before the first body of Malice reigned, Hell was never peaceful. It's a place filled with crimes and atrocities. You'll never change this place and it will never change. I have to hide the princess now."
"I won't let you do that!" Su appeared in front of Trick. The man was stunned by a sudden skill that blinded him. Meanwhile, the boy snatched the portrait and morphed his legs into a stealth creature to escape.
"Hey!" Trick yelled. He placed his hand on his chest while the other was pointed at Sun. "Place him under my control—"
Before he could finish his words, a large beam of energy was fired at him. Trick noticed this attack and chose to cancel his skill so he could avoid it. "Senile old man. Still trying to join in."
Midnight was about to join the fray when he received a hard punch in his stomach. The man growled, but luckily avoided damage by hardening his body with iron scales.
"The most powerful Demon?" Midnight chuckled. "That was everything that you have?"
Rebecca stepped back. She stretched before coating herself with an aura that was shaped like an armor. It was a dark yellow aura with a terrifyingly powerful presence. Her first was the most featured part with flashing sharp tip on its knuckles.
But Midnight was not at all fazed by the showcasing of power. He morphed his body with a black humanoid knight-like form, boasting with diamond-shaped scales. His upper body was of a human knight, but his lower body was of a dragon.
"So this is the Gloomy Despair looks," Rebecca smirked. "I have heard it more than once, but have never seen it before. Now it looked nothing like an ordinary house gecko with a human torso. Nothing much to be proud of."
Midnight smirked and shook his body. Three pair of black wings erupted from his back, all bat-like in shape. The dragon lower body shattered, revealing a humanoid legs but with dragon-like features. His lower back also showcased a long scaly tail that had a thorny mace-like tip.
He slammed his tail a couple of times, smirking. Midnight the raised both of his hand to show his claws, all sharp and could easily slice through hard objects such as rocks. His form was powerful and it was overwhelmingly strong.
"You're the only one I've shown this form to," Midnight noted. "I have hidden this form from everyone so they wouldn't be scared. But now it seemed like the entire realm has noticed it. There's no use of hiding this."
"Beautiful," Rebecca chuckled. "What is this form called?"
"Grinning Terror," Midnight said. He placed his hand on his face and took off the mask that covered his mouth, revealing a large slit-like lips that reached from ear to ear. His teeth were sharp and long and his tongue reached his neck. "This is the only time I'll use it because it doesn't like being shown for too long."
Rebecca didn't take fear in the face Midnight. Instead, she grinned and prepared for battle. The woman was confident in her abilities, knowing that she was more powerful than her opponent.
"Are you ready to die?" Midnight grinned wider, his face expanding to the side to accommodate his wide lips. "Because if so, then you'll get it soon."
"I have been ready to die since I took my first step," Rebecca growled. "Let me show you how decades of training is worth!"
She launched herself first, boasting an extremely high speed. Rebecca reached midnight not half a heartbeat later, smirking as she launched her first at the man's face.
A powerful blowing force disrupted the forest. Nearby trees were knocked down and the ground cracked open. Rebecca laughed, but as the smoke dissipate from the impact, her smirk faded.
There was a claw blocking her attack, a claw that gripped her shielded first and shattered her aura. Rebecca growled and stepped back, distancing herself from her attacker.
"Pay attention!" Midnight yelled. He appeared beside Rebecca, growling before launching a powerful punch. The woman was perceptive and immediately blocked the attack, but it cost the cracks on her shield.
"So, you're this powerful, huh?" Rebecca smirked. "You're far from my level though."
Rebecca stomped her feet and launched herself from the ground. She saw Midnight taking flight midair, so she used the air as a stepping stone to reach him. She was agile and fast even when she had her armor on.
When he saw her flying towards him, Midnight opened his wings and his mouth. A dense concentration of energy gathered in front of him, a spinning ball of energy appearing not long after. "Demonic Strike!"
Rebecca grunted. She had not time to flee and dodge, so she concentrated her armor in frot of her. This blocked the attack, but not the one that followed.
Midnight appeared behind her, grinning as she raised his claw and struck down the woman. His grin was wiped away when Rebecca conjured another shield. "You underestimate me, child. I have seen countless of Paragons that are ways stronger than you. I have also seen the Grinning Menace and its kind. I have slain them all, and you'd think I'd fall down this easily?"
Rebecca conjured a smaller, but more powerful armor. The dark yellow color was now more solid and had black streaks running around it. There were also gems that were made from her own mana, artificial equipment gems that granted boosts and perks.
"You know nothing, child," Rebecca muttered. He grabbed Midnight's arm and pulled him towards her. Her other fist was ready to be launched and just as Midnight got closer, she collided her knuckles to his face.
Midnight could not comprehend what was going on, and could only take the rapid blows. He was stunned and shocked, just realizing the extent of his opponent's powers.
"You're nothing but a fake demon who copies forms!" Rebecca yelled. "And you are not a woman, you're a man dressed like a woman! You're trying to pretend like a woman when you're not!"
It was then that Rebecca felt a powerful pulse-like energy. Midnight's eyes glared at her, sending shivers down her spine.
"I dress normally," Midnight whispered. "It's what my father told me."
