Chapter 574: What Happened in Hell
Trinidad felt safe while she was with Pentos. She discovered that one of the legendary figures in all realms was with them and his companions were also capable people.
After Francoise slaughtered the shadow, he made sure that no information would be leaked. He cast protective measures around the city and more shields around the guild house. He was now interested in protecting the Princess of Hell.
A few months later, the bond between Pentos and the two women grew. They were closer and Melissa slowly regained her sanity after she was taken care of them. She was happier and now her eyes held color and life unlike the dull and lifeless ones she had before.
"But why does a Guard have anything to do with her?" Francoise asked Trinidad when they finally have the chance to talk one on one. The others were out buying supplies while the two were left alone at the guild house.
"I mean, I get why you want to protect her because she will bear the one who kills her own mother, but why you?" Francoise asked. "You're on the deepest part of the underworlds and yet you had interest in the politics of the top. Why?"
"This girl is special," Trinidad said honestly. "I've been watching her since she was born. She had eyes that glimmer and personality that everyone likes. Hell loved Melissa. They wanted her to be the next queen and rule them."
"I doubt that that's the only reason," Francoise said honestly. "Be honest with me, Trinidad. Why have you been spying on this little girl ever since she was... I don't know. Conceived?"
"She has the same eyes as my brother."
The room was silent as the understanding reached Francoise. He sighed and nodded. "Brother? So, you're saying that Melissa is your niece?"
"We have the same face. Why would you even ask that?" Trinidad chuckled. "Although age has been unkind to me."
"And what happened to him? Why are all of these happening?" Francoise asked. "Where is he now that he could not protect his own child?"
"Do you ever wonder why there has been less and less demons from the deeper parts of the underworlds?" Trinidad asked. "Why Paragons and Behemoths suddenly vanished. Why for once, there seemed like peace in the realms because the monsters that lurks deep in the darkness are gone."
"I was wondering, but then I was grateful so I didn't really bother," Francoise confessed. "Why would I try to know why such a good thing is happening? I would be damned if I tried to learn that and then would be too guilty if I didn't fix it."
Trinidad managed to laugh at his response. Her reaction did not hold grudge or anger. It was pure amusement, now realizing why a man of his power would choose to stay in the weakest Realm and live quietly. Francoise was lazy and he did not want to be bothered by anything.
"You're funny, but no," Trinidad said. "My brother was also a Guard like me. The both of us gave our realm the greatest merits and achievements. The Forsaken was proud of us, even more proud of his sons. He wanted us to become better than his own blood and even arranged the marriage for us.
"Meanwhile, Malice wanted a body that was powerful and durable. She wanted to test a lot of spells on her but then she would feel naive if she does it right now or to her daughter because she knows that their bodies would break. Then the opportunity to make a child with a Behemoth came to her," Trinidad continued.
Her eyes now showed anger and pain. She wanted to cry and bawl the tears in front of Francoise, but she held it all back and maintained her composition. She wanted to be strong, even just strong enough to tell the tale.
"I would get where this is going. You can stop torture in yourself now," Francoise said. "After she conceived a child, she killed him."
"That is not all," Trinidad said. "After she conceived the child, she made sure that it lives. She even wanted a second one but then my brother was told of her true purpose. That was when she let loose. She didn't just kill him. She used him.
My brother was really in love with her, so he wanted to talk things out.
"But Malice has no heart. She didn't want anything to do with him, so she trapped him and used his energy to seal the underworlds apart from Hell. She used him," Trinidad cried. "She used my brother as a battery to her shield. How could she do that?"
Francoise sighed and let the woman cry. He was silent for a few minutes until he finally groaned and stretched. "That was awful. Finally. That thing left."
"I'm sorry I wasn't prepared enough. I wanted to make sure that he's not going to know about this," Trinidad fixed her composure and also stretched her arms. "That Angel is pathetic. He should know better than anyone that Behemoths don't have feelings like y'all have. My brother can rot in his cell and die for all I care."
"So, you chose to help Melissa because you wanted Malice to be killed as soon as possible?" Francoise cleared. "I have heard about you and you hated Malice's guts. You want to be loyal to your own Forsaken and she's planning to become an Absolute to overthrow him, right?"
"Down to every last detail," Trinidad said. "So, you'll help me or not?"
"Why couldn't you just attack her? You're strong enough," Francoise said. "Or ally yourself with that angel and kill him after. And does he really think we believe him about being Malice's son? That woman had put a curse on her that she could only bear daughters. But then again, that was so long ago, I don't think he knows."
"Crazy for you to think that I would trust an angel," Trinidad laughed. "As of this moment, I have never heard of an Angel who actually is good. All of them are just like us, pathetic and tyrants."
"Not all of them," Francoise shook his head. "I was even surprised to know who he really was."
"What?" Trinidad narrowed her eyes. "Who... Is it one of the boys?"
"The loudest one." Francoise laughed. "I met an angel who's actually good. Who would have thought."
Trinidad slammed her hands on the table. "He needs to be with her. Prophecy-wise, he needs her to bear his children. Francoise, help me help him get her."
"No," Francoise chuckled. "Why would I help you set up my friend with your own? Find someone else."
"They're in love."
The two of them turned to look at the source of the voice. They were frozen in place, realizing that their senses were bypassed. They gulped as they watched the person walk towards them, eyes dull but he revealed his true appearance.
"As dazzling as they were once seen by the people," Trinidad said. She watched as the person glowed with bright white light.
"Y...You," Francoise fell silent. "You're an angel?!"
The man smirked and shrugged. "The most powerful one to ever exist."
Francoise raised his guard and growled.
"Spencer?!"
