Chapter 554: The Real Candidate
"What is a fairy doing here? I thought they were extinct?" Elliot asked, not believing what he was seeing.
The figure was a small woman that was merely seven inches tall. She had long blonde hair thats he tied to a loose bun and a black dress that slowly fades away. Behind her was a pair of dark green butterfly wings that glowed with glitters and sparks.
Trick groaned. He took the dagger and pointed it at the fairy. "Glory, whatever you're thinking of, do not do it. Do not altert the queen."
"Trick you're a traitor!" the fairy yelled. "Why would I trust you? The queen's orders are absolute and her enemies are our enemies. We never should even try to question her words. She's our queen!"
Trick sighed. "No, she's not the queen anymore. She's a different woman and she's not who she used to be. Come on, Glory. You of all people should know that."
"No," Glory shook her head, trying to disagree with Trick. "You're lying. The queen is still the queen."
"Come on," Trick smiled as he approached her. "We're not going to kill her. She's still my queen and my loyalty is still with her. I just think that right now, she's not doing such a good job at keeping the realm intact."
"No, she's lost," Glory said. "Why wouldn't she be? She's a Candidate to become the next Absolute. She's under immense pressure that even she has no control over."
"Be reasonable, Glory," Trick begged. "Please. Do not alert the queen."
Glory took a deep breath and a heavy sigh. "No. I won't. But if she asks us, I will not hesitate to blame you for everything."
"No, of course you wouldn't. And I take all of the blame," Trick said with a hint of relief in his voice. He was glad that he was able to convince his fellow Vassel. It would be a problem if Glory became their enemy. "But you know how this is. I have to pretend to defeat you."
"I know, I know," Glory rolled her eyes. She started to open her arms, but the castle shook once more. "What? Who is doing that?"
"You weren't the one doing that?" Trick asked. "But you control most of the castle and has eyes and ears everywhere. You're Glory of the Thousand Senses."
"I am, but I would not damage the castle like this," Glory said. "I couldn't find the source of this immense pressure around the castle."
"But you have eyes everywhere, right?" Trick asked. "What is happening?"
Elliot was looking around and finally realized that Glory controlled all of the shadows that roams the halls. That is why she could see and hear everything because the shadows are flooded with her surveillance.
The shaking was caused by an immense pressure inside the castle, but Glory did not know its origin. Barbara theorized that it could not come from an external force because the center of the pressure was inside the castle's vicinity. Their biggest problem was the bricks that were used for the castle.
These bricks have properties that could alter and distort aura, giving the people a hard time to find the source of an aura.
"Glory, you have eyes everywhere. Are you sure you can't see anything?" Barbara asked. "Your powers are not limited, right? Can't you seek for something? Or someone?"
"The only place that I do not have surveillance over are the queen and the princess's chambers. I cannot invade on their private," Glory replied. "But hold on."
She closed her eyes and transported herself right in front of the princess's room. She gulped and felt the aura come from inside the room, a powerful pressure that could suffocate a normal person. It was black and evil, something like the queen could muster.
"It's from here?" Glory gulped. "But why?"
She opened her hand and hesitated. With a gulp, she entered the room through her skill, Undetectable Surveillance. It was a skill that enables her to dismiss all of her other surveillance to focus on one that was concealed through and through.
She entered the room and watched the scenes unfold. She was terrified from what she saw that she returned to her body.
"Oh, my Malice," Glory opened her arms. She sighed and spun, morphing into a regular size without compromising her features. When she was in a human's normal size, she is was beautiful. Her dress had a heart-shaped hole right above her chest, showing a small window to her healthy plump breasts.
"Why? What's going on? Why hasn't the shaking stop?" Elliot couldn't help but ask. He was starting to panic, especially knowing that Malice might be onto them. He knew he got stronger, but he could not calibrate how strong the Queen of Hell is. After all, he only fought a fraction of her power through her clone and he had a hard time doing that.
"Who's in on this?" Glory asked. "I mean, I was shocked that you of all people was convinced. But who else?"
"The twins were in on it, but I guess they got caught," Trick replied. "Strong knows, but he's undecided, and Bruno is the plan master. He knows everything."
Glory's eyes widened. Her jaw dropped and she gulped heavily. "W-What? Bruno is what?"
"Bruno convinced me," Trick narrowed his eyes. "He was the first Vassal to turn against Queen Malice. Why?"
"B-But..." Glory breathed heavily, panicking. "But Bruno just informed the queen about you being here."
"Bruno did what?" Barbara and Tricks chorused. They felt the aura of Malice intensified, burning with anger and rage. The two looked at each other and shook their heads in fear.
"This is bad," Barbara said. "Bruno played you, Trick. He knows that apart from him, you're the other strongest Vassal. He played you."
"Impossible," Trick was not able to form any other words. He was there, standing in fear and confusion. "But he was the one who convinced me."
"We have to get Strong," Glory said. "At least with him, we'll get to stand a chance against Malice."
"Why?"
They turned their heads to the source the voice and saw Irus there. "My brothers did not want to bother with the dealings of the upper floors, but this dealings include my friend. I will not just sit by and see Elliot get hurt."
"That was so sweet. Do you want a kiss on the cheeks as appreciation?" Elliot teased. "But, thanks. At least we would feel safer now that you're here."
"Is he... Are you?" Glory stuttered. "Are you a Behemoth?"
Irus nodded. "And I happen to be Elliot's friend. He's in a huge danger here, facing a candidate."
"Malice might be a candidate, but she's not that strong anymore." A man walked towards them. A tall muscled man that wore no shirt. He had a plain blue pants while his feet were barefoot. He had long black hair and a tanned skin with tattoos all over his body.
"Whoever said Malice was the candidate was looking past the point," Irus said. His words confused everyone, causing them to turn and look at him. "Malice was never the candidate. She had her feats, but they weren't enough."
"Then..." Elliot trailed off. "Then who is the candidate?"
"Bruno."
