Chapter 535: Reunited Dragons
The Behemoths watched as Hope ran toward his uncle and wrapped the older man in his arms. Tears were streaming on their eyes as they finally reunited.
"Why do you think Clan left right before the portal to your realm opened and they exited?" Mammon asked Irus who as smiling widely.
"Clan was still ashamed," Irus said. "He tried to kill them, yet they still tried to save him. His pride couldn't take it."
"And why did he appear now?" Mammon scrunched his face.
"Because he finally accepted his mistake. He's now reunited with the only thing that reminded him of his sibling," Irus said. "Bonds are stronger than blood, but you still cannot underestimate what blood relationships could do."
"Just like us?" Leviathan chuckled as he slung his arm around Irus. "Also we found Uriel. He's hiding around the Spice Islands. His exact location is unknown, but we will find him soon and end this before it can even start."
"The Holy War," Irus sighed. "Let's not hope that it would happen."
–
"Uncle..." Hope cried. "How are you here?"
"Hope, the Almighty gave me a second chance," Clan said and explained all about deaths in other realms and the Soul Collectors.
"Depending on how much power you have, the Soul Collector will take their time to rebuild yourself," Clan said. "I'm fairly powerful, so it took quite a while for them to rebuild me."
"Is that rule applicable to everyone?" Lance asked. "A lot of our enemies are killed here. What if they come back again?"
"No," Clan said. "Although the Soul Collectors do not take side, they take things into account. The number one was the good value and merit the person had before their death. For me, I reclaimed my evil deeds and repented my sins. They gave me a second chance."
"It happened three weeks ago when you were still in the East, defeating the threat there," Clan said. "I awoke and tried my best to recover all of me, but then–"
"And why did you just show up now?" Hope cut him off. "Why did you just show up now when you were revived in all of these three weeks?"
"I tried to gather all of my previous powers, but it turns out that I couldn't," Clan sighed. "As a penalty for my sins, the Soul Collectors consumed two thirds my original powers. Now, I'm nothing more than a normal dragon. I'm too weak."
"You're still quite strong though," Lance smirked. "You were a Triple Alpha Threat when we met you. If they took two thirds, you're at least an Alpha Threat, that's more than just an ordinary dragon."
Clan shook his head as he smirked. "You're just trying to make me feel better but that's not all the reason why I didn't show up immediately. I was…"
The man took a few seconds before he continued. "I was ashamed because I tried to kill you, even when you helped me after. I was killed and then you even avenged me. I was so ashamed of myself that I couldn't bring myself to even talk to you or look at you."
"That's why you were looming around the guild this whole time?" Hope asked, making Clan's eyes wide in shock. "I noticed because my magic perception has increased significantly. Besides, I can't ignore the presence of a very powerful dragon near me. How could I?"
"Hope..."
"When I sensed that you were going to leave, I tried to chase you using my dragonoid form so I could try and force the dragon form out of you, but you were so strong that I kept failing," Hope continued. "You dare say you're weak even when I, the Supreme Dragon Emperor, couldn't command you."
It was Clan's turn to wrap his arms around Hope. "You really are my sibling's child."
"And the two dragons have reunited at last," Mammon cheered. "And that weird woman took Elliot somewhere. She dare lie that there are only four Worldmakers when she too is one."
"She created that realm so she could kill him there, right?" Leviathan asked. "Because the boy is intervening about the fate that she holds records to. But what changed her mind?"
"Her plan of killing Elliot changed because her grandchild looks more like her daughter than her most hated person," Irus said. "She knows that if she plans to do any harm towards Elliot, Lance will never forgive her and will hate her. To her, it's like her own daughter hated her and she couldn't accept that. She needed to do something else."
"By letting the fate she holds record to stay stray?" Saitan chuckled. "She's one heck of a woman."
"But she needs Elliot," Lance said. "By doing everything miraculous he did so far, he rendered half of the Book of the End useless. We don't know what would happen next, which would happen next, and when would things happen next."
"But there is one thing that's for sure," Mammon said. "Human shall perish."
–
"Jameson, listen to yourself," Elliot chuckled. "Why would I kill you?"
"Championship of the Greats when the Armageddon first appeared," Jameson said. "You borrowed Irus's powers to defeat it. In the books, you wiped out half of the life in Avancia which includes my own."
"What? But I didn't," Elliot said. "Why would I take the lives that I desperately wanted to protect?"
"That's the thing, Elliot," Jameson argued. "You defied the events that should have happened. Not only that, you were supposed to be killed by the hands of the Demon, but you're not. You're still so much alive."
"But why would the records say so?" Elliot asked. "How could I do those things?"
"Even for me, your existence is a big mystery," Lady Hao said. "The records do not contain your identity, only when you were fighting in the Strike did it tell me who you were."
"What?" Elliot asked. "So you know everyone's identity?"
Lady Hao shook her head. "No. Only those who would bring major changes in how the world works. The records contain everything. From their birth, to the turning points in their lives. For the rest, I do not know."
"Elliot, you have to understand that you are one of those who brought major changes in the world," Jameson said. "You wiped out half of an entire country, or you were supposed to. But you didn't. You defied the records, Elliot. You defied fate."
"And the next tragedy, I hope you can avoid it," Lady Hao said as she took one of the books in the shelves.
She opened the book and glittering white lights burst from the pages. Small figures of people were formed by the white lights as Lady Hao hummed before speaking.
"The war that will cause the greatest change in all six realms is approaching," Lady Hao said. "The large-scale battles that you have fought so far are only the prelude to the great war that will surely take a lot of people that are important to you."
Elliot gulped as he watched the lights move. "What is this war, Lady Hao?"
"The War between Heaven and all five realms," Lady Hao said. "The Second Great Holy War. It is coming."
