Chapter 532: Lady Hao's Words
Elliot's sword was reforged by Francoise. His once shortsword that was sharp that could tear ang metal on Terra was altered into something that was much more intricate.
It retained its shortsword stature although it was longer by about three inches from regular shortswords. It was three sizes longer than a dagger, but was a quarter short of a regular sword.
The handle was a mix of soft fabric and leather that was easy on the hand but had the grip so it could stay even when Elliot was fighting intensely.
The Weapon Gem was located on the guard and its physical properties was also altered. It was now a spherical gem that was surrounded by three spiraling leaf-like metal ribbons. That had engravings on them.
The engravings had different meanings to which Elliot was still having a hard time understanding. It was so tiny that he could barely see them even when he looks closely.
"This is a combination of the two powerful metal and forged into one. The Valorium which was previously the strongest metal and now the Excaliborium which is currently the strongest metal and it contains its own magical properties. The Godslayer can be used to make any foe bow down to you."
Elliot gulped as he approached the case and took his sword. It felt familier yet foreign. It was a mixture of two feelings that he was having a hard time understanding.
"That's the sword that was foretold by the stars."
Everyone turned to see Lady Hao in the doorway of Francoise's shop. "Of course, I cannot tell you what it would do because it would ultimately alter fate, but that sword is very important."
"Lady Hao, what are you doing here?" Lance walked up to his grandmother and gave her a warm hug. Even when he doesn't know her existence whatsoever, he still felt a warm sensation towards her since they are blood related.
"I came here to see you and tell you what is happening in the East," Lady Hao said. "Everything is fine."
The room was silent for a couple of seconds. They didn't know how to react aftert that. Was she joking, or was she being serious? That was something that they couldn't answer.
"Err, Lady Hao, what is it truly the reason that you're here?" Elliot asked.
Lady Hao smirked and then chuckled. "Actually, the real reason why I came here is because there is a huge problem in the East regarding one of the Worldmakers."
"Worldmakers?" Elliot asked. "What are those?"
"Beings that are not Absolutes but has a record of creating their own realm, be it big or small," Lady Hao said. "There are four in this world's recorded history. One was from an ancient time where a loyal mage hid his king in his world to protect him..
"Arthur Pendragon was then discovered by the Demons of Hell, took him and made him one of the Vassals of their queen, Malice," Lady Hao said. "That was the very first record of a Worldmaker. The second one was from the East. A grieving husband and brother created his own world to preserve his soul while his body rots in our own.
"The third and fourth ones are rather early, one being almost twenty years ago and the last one is just a few months ago, a Deathly Sin creating a world because he wants his mother figure to have a place to stay so she can be safe," Lady Hao said.
Elliot was more than impressed by how much Lady Hao knew. She must be using some sort of ability so she can know all of these things, but there was one big key point that she missed.
The Manual. Everything she just said, all the Worldmakers, must be involved by the Manual. The first user must be Arthur's loyal mage, Merlin who used the Manual to preseve him.
The second one was Seungju and the third one was from the third Surpasser two decades ago, the latest one was Irus. All of them are related to the Manual.
"And what is it with the manual and your arrival here?" Lance asked. "Is there any threat that would arise?"
"There is," Lady Hao sighed. "From one of my thousand years of living in Earth, I have attained a status that's comparable to lost artifacts. I am called the Worldview and I have been watching everything and seen glimpses of the past, present, and future."
Lady Hao was comparing herselves to the Books of the Beginning, Middle, and End. The three artifacts that had the record of everything that has happened, has been happening, and will happen. So far, Elliot has the Beginning and Middle in his possession, he was only looking for the Book of the End.
"And what does the Worldmaker of the East doing to cause you trouble?" Lance asked. "Seungju is stuck in his realm, he cannot cause trouble outside."
"He's the thing, Seungju is not the trouble, he is in trouble or was in trouble," Lady Hao said. "The very world he created crumbled with him inside. The last thing he gave me was this letter and a word that only one of you should hear."
"And that person is..." Elliot trailed off. He saw Lady Hao look at him, smirking but then spoke of another name.
"Lance," Lady Hao called. "Come here. Let me tell you something."
"The Prophesized Boy," Lady Hao smirked as she took Lance up her floating island where she said it was much safer for them to talk.
Elliot was left below, only watching until when his friend could return.
Right now, he was baffled. He didn't know what he was going to feel because he was the one that Lady Hao was looking at before she called out for Lance. Was he only overthinking things?
"What are you thinking?" Connor sat next to Elliot on the roof of their guild house. The island was in the middle of the city so it didn't matter where they were. Lance could still spot them.
"How things are only going to get harder from here," Elliot said. "We know for a fact that Uriel is still out there, lurking, and now here we have another problem. I thought if we would solve things, we could finally rest, but why does it seem like things only get harder and harder?"
"Maybe because we weren't meant to rest," Connor chuckled. "Several months ago, when my old guild killed me and brought be back to life over and over again, I have always wondered what happened and why were they happening to me.
"Then I sneaked out of the guild to participate in the Strike and then met you. I then realized that my life wasn't just death and reviving, that I needed to do so much more," Connor continued. "That we are needed by this worlds because we are the only ones that can protect it. This is our purpose."
Connor tapped Elliot's shoulder before coming back inside the guild. Elliot sighed and was about to take a nap when he felt a gentle breeze on his neck. He looked around and saw Katarina by the roof.
"Jameson and Lady Hao sent me," she said. "We need to talk to you."
