I Have Great Voyage Game

Chapter 17

The Bone Sorcerer

After temporarily escaping the threat of the Skeletal Serpent, Roger began to observe his surroundings. It didn’t look much different from what he had seen outside; this seemed to be a long-abandoned village. There were dilapidated, drafty houses, collapsed huts, abandoned animal pens, and… bones on the ground.

*Clack!*

As Roger walked, his in-game character made a peculiar noise as if stepping on bones. He lowered his head and saw an abundance of yellowed bones belonging to unknown creatures scattered on the ground. Moreover, the dilapidated houses were evidently constructed from bones, not thatch or bricks, but the dried hides of various creatures!

What was even more disturbing was the eerie background music that had started, making the third-person perspective gameplay feel creepier than Roger had expected.

“Why does this feel like I’ve stumbled into a horror game…” Roger’s heart tightened. Before entering the cave, he had expected a “casual management adventure,” but now, the game’s tone had taken an unexpected turn toward “horror adventure survival.”

After a brief survey of the area, Roger noticed what seemed to be a well not too far ahead, still constructed with bones, and oddly, smeared with traces of blood. He headed towards the well.

However, just as he was halfway there, something unexpected occurred.

【×&%¥#@…】

A deep and indistinct incantation echoed throughout the village, and its source was impossible to discern. Along with the incantation, several streams of dark purple energy flowed from the village’s corners and into the bones on the ground.

Trouble was brewing. Roger was taken aback. Even without psychic abilities, he could tell that something was about to go down. However, he didn’t immediately run away. He wanted to see what would happen next.

Though he restrained himself from abusing the save-load feature, he understood that having it in his pocket was like holding an ace. So, let the show begin.

*Clack, clack…*

After the purple-black energy attached to the bones, several skeletal creatures arose, emitting a clattering sound. Some had human-like forms, while others resembled beasts, and they wielded various weapons, be it swords and shields or sharp horns. What was common among them was the eerie purple-black flames burning in their hollow eye sockets.

【Bone Hero】
【Type: Subordinate Creature】
【Quality: Common】
【Level: 2】

【Rank: Transcendent】
【Description: The once mighty hero who wielded a great sword has passed away with the ages. Sadly, even though their soul has dissipated, their body still can’t find peace.】

【Bone Horned Beast】
【Type: Subordinate Creature】
【Quality: Common】
【Level: 1】
【Rank: Transcendent】
【Description: The giant horns have brought tremendous attack power to the horned beast, but the ravages of time have left the horns badly damaged.】

The purple-black energy had summoned dozens of skeletal creatures, with an average level of one or two. Their names all started with “Bone,” and aside from the Bone Hero and Bone Horned Beast, there were Bone Goblins, Bone Minotaurs, and more.

Roger watched for a while but soon lost interest in them. It was evident that someone had summoned and controlled these skeletal creatures. The problem was that Roger couldn’t locate the person orchestrating this from the shadows.

“Damn it, Old Six!”

*Clack, clack!*

The sound of bones clashing filled the air as a Bone Warrior forcefully struck his bone shield, followed by a silent roar directed towards Roger.

Seemingly giving an order…

Charge!

Immediately, dozens of skeletal creatures charged towards Roger. After some thought, he decided to engage and see what kind of loot they dropped. He controlled his character to initiate automatic combat.

The in-game characters began to move gracefully. It’s worth mentioning that although the game’s auto-combat function had an upper limit, it had an impressive lower limit. This battle clearly demonstrated that.

The characters adeptly used Mist Flash and Dreadful Fiend Claws for attacks. They dodged at the right moments thanks to their high agility and aimed for vital spots on the skeletal creatures rather than mechanically attacking one place and hoping for critical hits.

However, Roger furrowed his brow. Despite seeing damage numbers when the characters attacked the skeletal creatures, it didn’t seem to have much effect. These skeletal creatures sustained injuries, with bones shattering, but they continued to reassemble and fight, appearing nearly indestructible.

Roger’s heart sank. Physical attacks didn’t seem to work on these skeletal creatures. Just as he was about to command his character to retreat, an unexpected development occurred.

【The Bone Goblin is overcome by fear.】

After the game provided the hint, the Bone Goblin dropped its bone club and began retreating in fear. The purple-black energy that had been in its eye sockets broke free and quickly floated in a certain direction. Roger didn’t receive a kill notification, but he was intrigued. This seemed like a lead!

He immediately controlled his in-game character to follow the path of the purple-black energy, with dozens of skeletal creatures relentlessly pursuing him. Along the way, there were other eerie bone creatures roaming around.

Before long, the purple-black energy led Roger to a building. Without hesitation, he ran inside. However, as he entered, he didn’t immediately spot the mastermind behind this.

After observing for a moment, he noticed a wooden board on the ground, which clearly indicated the presence of a basement. Roger lifted the board and indeed found a hidden underground chamber. Without wasting time, he jumped in.

The skeletal creatures that had been chasing him relentlessly outside started pounding on the door.

In the underground chamber, Roger looked around and found a one-way passage. He decisively moved forward. Soon, he encountered a wooden door blocking his path.

Roger pushed the door open and entered, revealing a well-lit underground chamber. In the darkness of the chamber, a mysterious figure in a black robe was contemplatively watching the swirling purple-black energy before him.

【Bone Sorcerer】
【Type: Monster】
【Quality: Boss】
【Level: 5】
【Rank: Transcendent】
【Description: The hidden bone sorcerer, possessing mysterious powers to manipulate bones, often accompanied by death.】

It appeared as if the sorcerer was puzzled by the chaotic behavior of the power. Roger’s sudden intrusion startled him. After uttering some words in a language Roger couldn’t understand, the sorcerer reached for a nearby dark staff, intending to cast a spell to attack Roger.

But Roger was quicker.

“Finding me was a big mistake!” Roger grinned and instantly turned into mist.

The mysterious mage, horrified by Roger’s sudden appearance, tried to stop him with his incantations, but the next moment, pale, sharp claws had already sliced through his neck.

With a splatter, blood gushed out, and the mage in the black robe collapsed. His body didn’t seem particularly strong, making it an easy target for Roger.
