NOVEL NEXT Chapter 28: Improved Physical Abilities
Dante and Pikachu woke up from the alarm. Looking at the time, it was still 5:30 AM.
Dante doesn't usually wake up this early, especially when it's still vacation. He set the alarm yesterday at the park when he decided to jog in the morning for exercise.
"Hngghh, come on, we'll exercise first before we go to the amusement park."
"Pika pika~" (Urghh, I feel I haven't rested enough.)
The both of them lazily got out of bed, ate some bread for breakfast, brushed their teeth, took a shower, and finally wore shorts and a shirt for jogging (Dante only).
Just recently starting to exercise, Dante has already set low expectations on how much he can last. Therefore, when half an hour had passed and he was only slightly sweating, he knew something was wrong.
Dante tried sprinting at full speed, constantly passing by the people in the park. He only felt that he was beginning to tire at the ten minute mark.
"Pika pika!" (Slow down Dante! *huff huff* You're too fast!)
Dante only then noticed that he ran faster than Pikachu. Dante was in a dazed for a while regarding his newfound strength, but soon realized the possible reason.
Opening the menu and taking a look at his stats in the Team option, he stared at all the stats that were above 30.
In the beginning, Dante thought only his Pokemon form was affected by the increase in stats due to him being unable to select the moves from the menu, and also because of his incapability to manipulate the energy inside his body.
He also didn't feel that he was any stronger than he was before. It turns out, the increase in stats was so subtle. Dante thought he should experience accidentally breaking glass cups, his body feeling too light, or other signs of loss of control.
Dante also then remembered that he didn't feel any discomfort when he leveled up multiple times in Zorua form. Instead, he even felt that he could more easily use the energy inside his body when using moves.
After confirming with Pikachu, Dante basically concluded that there is no loss of control when their stats suddenly increase, but instead allowed for more control.
This discovery also made Dante have a premonition that…he didn't need to become a Pokemon in order to use the energy in his body. Maybe, as long as his stats reach high enough, he'll be able to control it even in human form.
After finding out that he can become stronger through the PMD world as well, Dante decisively gave up his plan for exercising in the future.
What a joke!
Dante doesn't want to waste his time every morning when he can spend it on doing more productive things. And speaking of more productive things…
'I already have access to the racial limits of each Pokemon on the Alliance website as well as other knowledge. Alright, it's decided. I'll focus more on strengthening my knowledge reserves in this world as well as relaxing, and then train and exercise in the PMD world.'
So for the morning, Dante skimmed through the more than 1,000 known Pokemons. Some Pokemons only had names and no data, Pokemons like Shuckle and Steelix had their racial limit lowered compared to the base stat in Dante's previous world.
Among all Pokemon with available data, Dante didn't see any Pokemon with a racial limit which exceeded 200. Even exceeding the 150 mark is rare, with only a rare few like Shuckle with 158 Defense and Sp. Def, Steelix with 150 Def, and Blissey with 164 HP.
After some careful study, Dante noticed that the Pokemon's racial limit is still consistent from what Dante remembered before reaching the 100 mark. After that, almost all of them have changed.
Gengar, which Dante clearly remembered, had a 130 Sp. Atk. Instead, according to the Alliance handbook, Gengar only has 115 Sp. Atk. After looking through other Pokemon whose base stats he remembered, Dante realized.
After a Pokemon's racial limit reaches 100, their base stat will be half of the one' in the game. For example, Gengar has 130 Special Attack. Therefore, his racial limit is 100 + (30/2) = 115 Special Attack.
After Dante made this analysis, he still couldn't help thinking 'There should be something special after a stat reaches 100, right? Otherwise, there is no reason the stats get halved after reaching that point.'
However, Dante knew that thinking about it now will lead him nowhere. His and Pikachu's stat will still take a while before they reach that point.
Before noon, Dante and Pikachu got back home in order to have lunch. Dante also took another bath then changed into a black pants and polo shirt. For the rest of the afternoon, he and Pikachu tried all the rides in the amusement park.
When going home, both of them still had smiles on their faces.
In the room, Pikachu clamored to watch part 2 of the Kung Fu Pancham. Dante obliged him while he himself continued to memorize the racial limits of each Pokemon.
Soon, it was 12 AM and the refresh time for the PMD world was finished. Pikachu and Dante got on the bed and then entered the PMD world.
Dante once again woke up among the pile of straws. Pikachu on the side was already stretching, said good night to Dante and prepared to rest after a long day of fun.
"Wait, Pikachu. I want to try something first. It'll only take a short while."
Pikachu blinked and nodded understandingly, curious as to what Dante was going to try.
Looking at the menu, Dante took a deep breath.
'It's alright, the worst case that can happen is that I waste one chance of going into the dungeon. This would allow me to gain more understanding of the PMD system.'
Dante didn't forget about his desire to experiment whether he can travel back and forth between the two worlds as long as he didn't go into the dungeon for the day. So, with his mind made up, Dante chose to leave this world.
After the familiar dizziness, Dante opened his eyes in the world of humans once again. He hurriedly took out the phone and looked at the option to continue.
Clicking on it, Dante wasn't stopped by a prompt regarding insufficient Exploration Opportunity.
Instead, he once again felt the familiar dizziness before opening his eyes as a Zorua once again.
"Ugh, I'm feeling sick. Can we sleep now, Dante?"
Pikachu on the side asked the smiling Dante. Hearing Pikachu's words, Dante only then felt his headache throbbing with pain.
'Alright, ouch! Note to self, do not consecutively travel between the two worlds unless necessary.'
"Yeah, sorry Pikachu. It looks like the experiment was a success. Let's sleep now and prepare for another adventure tomorrow."
"Yeah! Good night, Dante!"
"Good night, Partner."

"UP AND AT 'EM! IT'S MORNING!"
