Chapter 86: [87]Family Letter & Sudden Emergency
Levi woke the next morning feeling refreshed as he stretched his body.
His mind also felt sharp and clear thanks to the Ripple Mind effects of the Oceanic Soul Scripture.
After a quick shower and getting dressed in his academy uniform with the Galactic Guardian Suit worn underneath, Levi checked his holo-watch out of habit and was surprised to see a notification of a received message.
It was actually from his parents back home.
He was slightly stunned. He had almost forgotten he had parents in this world and even two cute little sister who are identical twins.
Levi clicked on his holo watch and opened the message.
"My dear son,
It's been a while since we heard from you, and we hope you're doing well at the academy. We know things must be difficult right now, especially after your awakening results and you must be very busy which is why we texted instead of calling. Please don't let the talent weigh you down too much. An F-rank talent doesn't define who you are or what you're capable of.
Your father and I are so proud of you, Levi.
Your sisters also keep asking when you would come visit them but I said you're very busy. You should see their faces when they talk about you.
We also managed to send you a little something. It's not much, but we hope it helps with your supplies and meals. Don't worry about us and simply focus on your self.
Oh, and before we forget, your father ran into Mira's parents yesterday. Apparently, she awakened a B-rank talent and got admitted into Crimson Sun Academy. She seem to be involved with someone elsenow, but that's life, isn't it? Don't let it bother you. Sometimes, it's always for the best. Take care.
With love,
Mom, Dad, and your little sisters (Lina & Lira)"
Levi blinked several times. The message was heartwarming and he even though they were strangers to him, he still felt closer to them as emotions surged.
As if the news about his girlfriend, he didn't even put it in his mind at all. He could barely even remember what she looked like or why the original Levi had cared about her. That relationship felt like it belonged to a different person.
His father had been crippled in a dimensional zone accident years ago and was now confined to a wheelchair, unable to work in his original profession as a Hunter. The family survived through his father's income as a web novel writer, and his mother working three jobs simultaneously to keep food on the table and send the twin girls to school.
Despite everything, they had actually scraped together ten thousand credits to send him.
Levi cousins help but feel slightly guilty about it.
He immediately opened his holo-watch's interface and initiated a conversion from Chaos Points to standard Federation credits. The exchange rate was one Chaos Point to ten credits.
This means 15,000 Chaos points could go for 150,000 Credits.
It was more than his family would normally earn in an entire year of struggling with multiple jobs.
Levi directly transferred the 150,000 credits to his parents' account without, then messaged them, explaining that they shouldn't worry about him at all and that he had found a good part-time job at the academy that paid quite well, then asked them to give his love to his little sisters and promised to visit during the next break.
He sent the message and sighed. Just when he was thinking about the Celestial Slaughter Art, his holo-watch suddenly flashed with an urgent red alert.
Levi frowned as he glanced down at his watch. The red alert was an emergency broadcast sent to all Elite Class students at the same time.
The alert message was brief and direct: "All Elite Class first-year students report to Field FB-34 at once."
Levi quickly grabbed Luna from where she was sleeping and placed her in his special pocket. Then grabbed his blade and necessary items and placed them in his storage ring.
When Levi came outside, he saw that other students throughout the Elite Year One District were also coming from their residences with confused expressions on their faces.
What shocked Levi was that there actually students who opened vehicles within the academy.
Beautiful Hovercars and Airbikes zoomed out from the buildings as they drove toward Field FB-34 with insane speed.
Levi immediately swore to get one for himself. It would at least save time and it was also incredibly cool.
Levi simply began jogging toward Field FB-34 at a steady pace. The journey took approximately fifteen minutes, and when Levi arrived at Field FB-34, he discovered it wasn't actually a field.
Instead, it was a massive runway that looked more like a military airbase. The landing area was at least two kilometers long.
Surrounding the runway were dozens of vehicles and aircraft of various size and shapes. Levi had never seen such advance aircrafts before and they were all sleek and beautiful, looking incredibly futuristic.
On the field next to the runway, the students had lined up and were currently whispering as the discussed amongst each other.
As Levi found a place near the end of the assembly, he suddenly heard the murmuring around him suddenly increase.
He frowned and turned to see what was causing the commotion and spotted a particularly student entering the assembly.
"See? Isn't that Lucifer Fraust? He's ranked tenth in our Elite Class!" someone nearby whispered in excitement and awe.
Levi studied the student with interest. Lucifer appeared to be perhaps seventeen years old with sharp features that suggested noble bloodline.
And the way he lived with confidence meant he was truly confident about his own strength and talent.
The other students instinctively created space around him as he passed.
Over the next few minutes, other highly-ranked students began arriving and were greeted with similar reactions from the crowd. Students ranked ninth, eighth, seventh, and so on made their entrances, each one causing whispers from the crowds about their achievements, techniques, and family backgrounds.
