Chapter 39: People From Sacred Aurelian Magic Tower (1/2)
It was almost 8 p.m. when Ainen grabbed a quest and left, speeding towards the destination using Flight.
Shortly after he left, Crown Prince Maurin and Princess Irnia, as well as three more people at Adept rank, who were adventurers of the Belrik capital, entered the Lainark town.
"Please welcome to my humble abode."
Duke Habort, one of the four powerhouses of the Belrik Kingdom, welcomed the prince and princess into the well-lit hall of his palace.
"Is everything ready, Duke Habort?" Crown Prince Maurin asked as soon as he sat down on the couch.
"Indeed. All four best Adventurer parties of this town have been informed and are on standby."
"Good. We won't be staying here for long, so please call them," Princess Irnia said. "We'll depart in half an hour."
"That soon?" Duke Habort wryly smiled. "I wished to have you taste a rather exceptional food, which, I'll have you know, even I haven't tasted yet. However, I have sent my minister to pick up that chef. He should be here soon."
"A chef you personally sent people to pick up? Is he that good?" Crown Prince Maurin raised his eyebrows.
"He randomly sold food today in the streets, and everyone couldn't get over how tasty it was. Naturally, that's not all." Duke Habort's eyes glinted. "The food he makes has very powerful buffs, and it even gives permanent stats."
Princess Irnia, Crown Prince, and the other three Adventurers were visibly startled upon hearing the last part.
"I have tasted Mr. Ravin's food in the royal palace. And I know he can make food that can increase the stats of Adept-rank people or lower. But something bothered me about this chef." Duke Habort narrowed his eyes. "From what people said, their stats increased by ten to twelve the first time they ate, and their stats increased by half of that while eating the second portion."
"What?!"
If they were just startled previously, now they were completely shocked and in disbelief over this information.
"Impossible." Crown Prince Maurin. "Is this absolutely confirmed? How can a chef of that caliber be here, selling food in the street? Mr. Ravin has been our chef for two decades now, and at most, the best of his food dishes so far could increase three stats by eight to ten."
"There can be such exceptional chefs. I even know one who is far better than Mr. Ravin," Princess Irnia said, her eyes narrowing. "But for such a chef to be here…it's strange."
"Well, I want to confirm it as well, which is why I invited the chef."
As he finished speaking, the door opened and Minister Raol entered.
Upon seeing the party, he approached them and cupped his fists. "Greetings, Prince Maurin and Princess Irnia."
Duke Habort frowned. "Where's the rumoured chef?"
Minister Raol cleared his throat. "He said he wasn't going to cook food today anymore and went to take a quest to adventure with his siblings."
"He said he would visit after returning." Minister Raol added.
"How was your impression of him?" Duke Habort curiously asked.
"First, he was very young. Younger than we expected. He is at most twenty years old. Also, he is unexpectedly an Awakened-rank Adventurer."
"What?!"
"Are you saying a twenty-year-old Awakened-rank is making that kind of food?"
"Nonsense, right?"
Now, everyone had an even more disbelieving look.
"Also, one more thing to report. I assume you have seen the magical phenomenon in the sky." Minister Raol looked at Duke Habort.
"Magical phenomenon?" Princess Irnia raised her eyebrows.
"If you were in the woods on the way, you might have missed it, but it was there, in the sky. The whole town had seen it," Duke Habort said with a nod.
"Yes. In fact, that phenomenon was related to that young chef. It descended like a comet and entered his house abruptly shortly before he exited and showed himself outside."
"It looks like we'll have to meet this person," Crown Prince Maurin muttered.
"We definitly need to find out more about him and meet him." Princess Irnia said, her expression thoughtful. "But we also need to set up a camp near the Labyrinth, and focus on the other mission as well. But we can spare two to three hours. We had a long journey, so we can rest and see if he returns in the meantime."
"Sound good." Crown Prince Maurin nodded.
"Then if you want to get freshened up, you can head to your rooms." Duke Habort said and snapped his finger as five servants arrived.
…
"Is that where the phenomenon occurred?"
A rather magnificent engineering of magic and material was heading towards Lainark Town.
A thirty-meter-long flying ship, akin to a pirate ship, but having wings like a whale's arms.
It flew speedily, yet silently, crossing almost a kilometer per second.
"Took an hour to reach here. Where is this place?"
"A small kingdom in the south called Belrik. If I remember correctly, the princess there has been accepted into Mistbound Magic Tower."
"Will they interfere with us?"
"Humph. I dare them to snatch this Arcane Blessed individual from us."
"I don't think they have the means to detect Arcane Blessings like us. They might not even know that someone was blessed by Arcane in that kingdom."
"Ah, yes. I forgot that only we and the Starion Blade Magic Tower from the Runebound Continent have proper Arcane Eyes, though that might not be the case soon this year."
"Slow down. The place is here."
As the giant ship suspended above the town, people were shocked.
For many, it was their first time seeing a flying ship.
"This…" Princess Irnia's pupils constricted drastically as she saw the ship. More specifically, the ship's flag. "Why are the people of Sacred Aurelian Magic Tower here?"
"Sacred Aurelian Magic Tower?!" Duke Habort's voice cracked. "Aren't they the last year's number one Magic Tower and are situated in the biggest academy of our continent? What are they doing here?"
"Could it be they are here to meditate on the matter of the Labyrinth?" Prince Maurin wondered. "They arrived faster than we expected."
"Styxian Dynasty was indeed going to send people for mediation, but they wouldn't send people from Magic Tower," Princess Irnia said. "So it's a real mystery why they are here."
Soon, three people flew out of the ship and landed in the Duke's mansion.
One was a middle-aged woman, another was a middle-aged man, and the last one was an Adept-rank young man looking in his early twenties, his expression aloof.
