Chapter 102: If You Beg Me Twice, I Will Promise You (1/5)
Finn tossed Sugar to the female Marine soldiers behind him, who swiftly secured her with seastone handcuffs.
"That's four already~"
Counting Sugar, along with Baby 5, Buffalo, and the fallen Torrebol, Finn realized they had now captured four of the Donquixote Family's key figures.
Robin, sharp as ever, furrowed her brow. "Smelly brother, these people don't seem like royalty. Why are they in Dressrosa's palace?"
She had always been adept at reading people, and neither Torrebol nor Sugar gave off any regal vibes. There was no trace of nobility or aristocratic demeanor among them. She was sure they weren't members of the royal family, but what were they doing in the palace?
Finn nodded, confirming her suspicions. "You're right, Miss Robin. They aren't royalty. These are Doflamingo's cadres. The original royal family of Dressrosa was framed by him, turning them into villains in the eyes of the people. Doflamingo then seized control and made himself emperor."
"Doflamingo? The Shichibukai?" Robin's surprise was evident. "Why would someone like him want to be an emperor?"
A mysterious smile spread across Finn's face. "Do you know which family ruled Dressrosa before the Liku royal family?"
"Which one?" Robin asked, her curiosity piqued.
"The Donquixote Family," Finn answered.
"Wait, the same Donquixote Family as... these people?" Robin gestured toward Torrebol on the ground, her confusion mounting.
"No, no," Finn corrected with a chuckle. "The Donquixote Family of the Celestial Dragons, who now live in the Holy Land."
Robin's eyes widened in realization. "Smelly brother, are you saying that Doflamingo is a member of that Donquixote Family?"
"Exactly," Finn said, giving her a thumbs-up. "In Doflamingo's mind, taking back Dressrosa's throne is simply reclaiming what belongs to his family."
Tashigi, looking puzzled, tilted her head. "But... isn't there something wrong with that?"
Finn gently patted her head. "Of course there is. The Donquixote Family abandoned the people of Dressrosa long ago to live as Celestial Dragons. Now, a disgraced member of that family comes back, thinking he can just rule over the people they once betrayed. Does that seem fair?"
"Absolutely not!" Tashigi's face flushed as she realized how wrong she had been to doubt. Robin, echoing her sentiment, added, "They abandoned this country. They have no right to rule it now."
Robin, ever the compassionate one, turned to Finn. "We should help the Liku family reclaim their throne."
"Aren't I already helping?" Finn spread his hands with a smirk. But then his gaze shifted to the side hall. "You've been eavesdropping for quite a while. Why don't you come out?"
Both Robin and Tashigi turned their heads toward the side hall. Robin crossed her arms, using her Devil Fruit powers to open an extra pair of eyes in the side hall for a better look. Her gaze soon landed on a woman hidden in the shadows.
The woman stiffened at Finn's words, realizing she'd been discovered. She hesitated for a moment, but knowing she couldn't escape someone as powerful as Finn, she stepped out from the shadows.
She was Violet, a woman with long brown-black hair adorned with a red flower, dressed in a purple polka-dot dress, exuding an exotic charm.
"Are you Marines?" Violet asked anxiously, noticing the uniforms of the female soldiers.
"Yes, and who might you be?" Tashigi asked politely.
"I am Violet, daughter of King Riku and the former princess of Dressrosa," she said, her voice heavy with the burden of her title.
"And also a member of Doflamingo's Meihua Army," Finn added casually.
Violet's face turned pale. "I... I was forced to join him to save my father's life."
Before she could explain further, Finn interrupted her, smiling gently. "I know. You did it to protect your family, didn't you?"
Her eyes widened in shock. "How... how did you know?"
Tashigi beamed with pride. "Our young master knows everything!"
Violet, clearly unnerved by how much Finn knew, instinctively activated her Devil Fruit power, forming her hands into circles and placing them over her eyes to spy on Finn's inner thoughts.
Robin raised an eyebrow. "What's she doing?"
"She's trying to read my mind," Finn answered, unfazed.
At his words, Violet's arms trembled, and she quickly lowered her hands. "I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean any harm. I was just... curious."
Finn shrugged nonchalantly. "It's fine. You have your abilities; it's only natural to use them. But it won't work on me."
Violet looked completely defeated. "I tried using my powers, but I couldn't read anything from you... Just like with Granose earlier. How can you be immune to so many abilities?"
Despite her unease, Violet felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe this mysterious man could save Dressrosa. Without hesitation, she knelt before Finn, bowing her head. "Please, Master Marine, save our royal family!"
To her shock, Finn replied instantly, "I refuse."
"What?" Both Tashigi and Violet gasped in disbelief.
Violet's heart sank. She had expected Finn to help, but now, all seemed lost.
Robin, equally taken aback, stared at her brother. "Smelly brother...?"
Finn pouted, crossing his arms. "If I agreed right away, my help would seem too cheap. How about this: if you beg me two more times, I'll think about it."
Violet blinked, completely stunned. "Wh-what?"
Tashigi nudged her gently. "Come on, just beg him two more times. The young master likes it when people plead a little."
"Oh, right!" Violet stammered, quickly recovering her composure. "Master Finn, please save the Liku royal family!"
"Rejected."
Violet's heart skipped a beat, but she quickly begged again, her voice desperate. "Master Finn, please save us! I'll do anything in return!"
Finn smiled, satisfied. "Alright, now we're talking."
Robin sighed, rubbing her forehead. "My smelly brother sure likes to play games..."
