Chapter 259: Tier 5 Lord Dark Beast
A week later…
After the special team thoroughly rested and the other seeded talents prepared everything in the shelter, everyone began to take their positions.
Most of the seeded talents defended each section of the wall, while the special team remained on standby.
Besides this, they took five Spiral Behemoth to be stationed on each side, while the special team carried ten.
Excited about the coming beast tide, they urged Nash through the communication port to quickly upgrade the shelter.
"These guys…"
Sighing helplessly, Nash began operating the shelter's panel.
First came the expansion of the wall and defensive forts.
Spending hundreds of trillions of merits, the shelter began to rumble and expand.
Next, Nash turned toward the buildable architecture, constructing all that could be built and upgrading everything to the current shelter level.
Spending almost a quadrillion merits and upgrading everything in the shelter to the limits, the test from the Void Administrator arrived.
Testing whether they had solid defences, support structures, and manpower to withstand a dark beast tide, the Void Administrator would transport dark beasts from across the dark plane to form a tide.
As the shelter rumbled as if undergoing a tribulation, a dense horde of dark beasts began to appear outside.
"Two Dark Beast Lords found at the North Wall."
"Three Dark Beast Lords at the West Wall."
"One Dark Beast Lord at the East Wall."
"Five Dark Beast Lords at the South Wall."
Having faced dark beast tides multiple times, the skilled talents calmly reported the dangers they faced.
Meanwhile, reading the alerts, the special team, composed of 51 top talents, couldn't help but feel solemn.
"Eleven Lord-Level Dark Beasts?! We already cleared them earlier; how are there still so many?" Camilla muttered gloomily.
Having killed Lord-Level Dark Beasts for months, she thought the advancement trial would be easier. Who knew they'd still face eleven?
"This is already small. If we hadn't cleared the Lord-Level Dark Beasts earlier, we might have faced over a hundred in this tide," Natasha commented.
Having experienced the domain-level cosmic competition, she knew how fierce each shelter advancement trial was.
If they wanted to minimize the number of Lord-Level Dark Beasts further, they could only kill more in the deeper areas.
Unfortunately, they had only a year and a half in their simulated training.
Lacking enough time, they could only kill the nearby lord level dark beast.
"Don't worry, now that we have the Spiral Behemoth, the others should be able to hold on for a while," Nash comforted.
Checking the communication port, it was indeed as Nash said.
Facing multiple Lord-Level Dark Beasts, the seeded talents guarding the wall held their ground calmly, besieging them with the Spiral Behemoth.
In fact, they were even enthusiastic, telling the special team not to hurry so they could experience the might of the Lord-Level Dark Beasts a bit longer.
Though the Spiral Behemoth couldn't kill them, it gave them enough space to try different attacks and strategies to bring them down.
Meanwhile, the seeded talents guarding the East Wall, waiting for the Lord-Level Dark Beast to come closer so they could test their massive weapons, suddenly panicked.
"Back up! Back up!"
"Hurry, we need help at the East Wall!"
"Report: the Lord-Level Dark Beast we're facing is Tier 5!"
"Damn! Help! All our Spiral Behemoths are about to be scrapped!"
Knowing the danger they faced, the Special Team bolted to the East Wall.
---
"Retreat! Let us take over!" Natasha shouted, clashing with the Tier 5 Lord-Level Dark Beast before it could get closer.
Seeing the backup arrive, the skilled talents heaved a sigh of relief and hurriedly retreated.
A Tier 5 Lord-Level Dark Beast was on a different level from those the others faced.
If a Tier 4 Lord-Level Dark Beast could have a combat power of up to 10 billion, the one before them had at least 100 billion!
Checking its power with the [Team Module System]'s Status Analysis, their blood froze.
[Abyssal Monarch: Tier 5 Lord-Level
Combat Power: 320 billion]
"320 billion?! Hiss! Can we even kill this thing?!"
Watching from afar while they fought weaker dark beasts, they couldn't help but pray the Special Team could handle it, or this simulated training would be over.
---
Meanwhile, facing the Abyssal Monarch, unlike the panic from those behind, Natasha and the others were calmer than ever.
Mobilizing the power of the shadow element, Natasha quickly bound it in place as the others began their attack.
Having killed about 300 Lord-Level Dark Beasts, their teamwork was seamless, without any gaps.
Unfortunately, just seconds after Natasha bound the Abyssal Monarch, it broke free, as if tied by a fragile rope.
Feeling the backlash from the skill, Natasha staggered as she retreated.
"Are you okay?" the team asked, concerned.
Natasha was the only one who could bind such a monster, giving them a chance to attack.
Without her, they'd be fighting for their lives against this beast.
"I'm okay. I can still handle this much," Natasha said calmly, leading another attack.
Yet, attack after attack, binding after binding, the backlash Natasha received stacked higher and higher.
Vomiting blood until she collapsed to her knees, they saw the Abyssal Monarch still lively and full of power.
"Let me hold it for a while. You rest," Skylar said, stepping in to give Natasha time to heal.
"Young Master, it's dangerous!" Hobis muttered, not wanting Skylar to take the risk.
"Don't worry, I have my speed," Skylar replied with a smile, rushing toward the Abyssal Monarch.
Using his genetic ability to manipulate time and accelerate his movements, he kited the Abyssal Monarch in circles, giving the team space to breathe.
Taking advantage of this moment, the team quickly replenished their energy and healed their injuries.
Watching the situation, Nash couldn't help but frown.
If they continued fighting like this, they wouldn't last long.
Unable to deal significant damage, even if they fought the Abyssal Monarch for hours, they couldn't kill it.
Furthermore, could they even last an hour against this monstrous beast?
Just minutes into the battle, Natasha was already too injured to fight.
Watching Skylar kite the Abyssal Monarch, Nash estimated he wouldn't last a minute.
If this cycle continued, let alone an hour, they might not survive half that time.
