I Build a Modern Shelter in Fantasy World

Chapter 126: Western Territory of Moko Kingdom

After everything was ready, night came and it was time for them to leave. The location was far to the west, especially in the canyon area.

Norton had clearly said the distance from the Royal Capital of Moko to that place would take around four to five days on horseback.

Gideon wasn't worried at all. They still had food supplies, Norton had even added more. Gideon and his team thanked Norton for his kindness.

Their group left Norton's residence. Luke drove the horse carriage with Lena inside, Gideon rode his own horse, and so did Hannah.

"Won't you ride ahead and get there faster?" Hannah asked. Gideon shook his head.

"The target is already known. Their base is there. Our mission is to strike their base, not chase them," Gideon explained.

Hannah nodded, focusing on her horse. There were a few differences in her appearance. She was still wearing her armor, but Luke had changed its color.

The white and blue stood out too much, especially at night in the middle of the forest. Enemies could easily notice her.

That was why Luke had bought black, green, and brown paint and painted Hannah's armor to match the pattern of their military uniforms.

They kept moving until they reached the western gate of the city. The guards let them pass because they saw Hannah with them.

Hannah explained they would pass through several towns before reaching the canyon. Gideon nodded.

Her presence was a big help. She knew a lot about the kingdom's lands and its towns. They didn't need a map, only her memory to reach the area.

"Tell me if you need to rest," Gideon said firmly.

"Yes. I'll do my best not to slow you down."

Gideon agreed. The four of them rode on, leaving the capital behind and heading west. Norton had said he would send one of his captains with cavalry to help with the attack.

If they could capture the mountain base, that would also mean controlling the cliff. With the cliff under their control, a new front would open to strike Luthe from a direction they would never expect.

That could turn the war map upside down and make the situation favorable for Moko. That was why Norton strongly supported Gideon's idea and hoped they really could capture the mountain base.

"We'll get there in five days at the latest. Can you handle that, Luke?" Gideon asked.

"You guys are too slow, it makes me sleepy. Can we go faster?" Luke joked.

Gideon smiled and looked at Hannah. She understood and rode ahead, speeding up her horse. Gideon and Luke followed, adjusting the pace of their horses and the carriage.

Five days later.

Jurgan Village.

Ahead of them stood a tall gate, about three meters high, with the name Jurgan Village carved on it. This was the place Hannah had mentioned as the closest village to the canyon.

The villagers didn't pay much attention to Gideon and his team. Most of them worked odd jobs or as laborers, since the rocky soil wasn't good for farming.

"Why are there so many royal soldiers here?" Gideon asked.

"Jurgan Village is the entrance to Moko territory. Earl Ashfield placed many soldiers here to prevent trouble," Hannah explained.

"Makes sense. They'd rather defend than risk losing to the enemy out there," Luke said.

Their group stopped in the middle of the village. Hannah turned and called out to one of the soldiers. The soldier looked back arrogantly.

"Where's your captain?" Hannah asked.

"Why are you looking for him? Who are you?" the soldier asked.

"I am Princess Hannah from the Capital!" Hannah declared.

"HAHAHA!"

"Don't lie like that. There's no way Princess Hannah would come to a place like this."

Gideon and Luke glanced at Hannah's annoyed face. She acted firmly, pulling out her pendant and showing the royal family's seal.

The soldiers saw it, their faces turned pale, and they froze in fear. Both of them quickly knelt and bowed their heads, apologizing.

"F-Forgive us, Princess Hannah. We were disrespectful!" they said.

"I'll forgive you if you take us to your captain's house!" Hannah ordered.

"O-Of course, Princess Hannah."

They got up and led the group away. Luke laughed and gave a thumbs-up. Bringing Princess Hannah along was worth it. Her presence made everything much easier.

The two soldiers guided them to a two-story wooden house, explaining that it belonged to their captain. Gideon and Hannah got down, while Luke and Lena stayed outside on guard.

"Captain!" the soldier shouted.

"What is it? Don't disturb me!" a man's voice yelled from inside his office.

"Someone's here to see you, she—"

"Too slow!" Hannah snapped.

She kicked open the office door and saw a fat man sitting on a sofa, with two women beside him, both of them topless.

"You?!" the man shouted, his face turning red with anger.

Gideon stepped inside firmly, scanning the captain's office. It didn't look like an office at all. There were no file cabinets, not even a desk. Instead, there was a bed, sofa, and furniture usually found in a bedroom.

"The Kingdom of Moko is at war and on the edge of defeat. And you, a captain, are relaxing here sucking a whore's breasts. What are you, a baby?" Gideon scolded.

"Who the hell are you?! How dare you lecture me!"

The soldier who had escorted them whispered something to the captain. His eyes went wide, his face turned pale, and he quickly drew his sword. He stabbed the two women beside him, killing them before they could escape.

"W-Whore? They were just commoners with no manners!" he claimed.

"Take the bodies outside," Gideon ordered.

"Yes, sir."

The soldier obeyed, carrying the bodies out one by one. When it was done, the fat man fell to his knees and begged Hannah for forgiveness.

"Disgusting! Don't touch me!" Hannah shouted, stepping back.

"You can deal with that later. The reason I'm here is to get clearer information about the enemy forces stationed in the mountain," Gideon said.

"The enemy base in the mountain? Wait! What are you planning to do?" the man asked.

"Do you know anything about them?" Gideon asked, moving closer.

The man stood up, looking at Gideon and Hannah in turn. If they were asking about that army, of course he knew things even the commanders in the Capital might not know.

"I know a few things," he said.

"Tell me."

"There are about 800 of them. That's only a scouting base. The main base of Luthe is beyond the canyon," he explained.

"800? I thought there would be more than a thousand."

"There were that many at first. But tension in the northern front made some of them move there," the man said.

Gideon looked at Hannah. She nodded. His words might be true, but they still needed to scout the place. And that was something Gideon's team could handle.

"Thank you. I'll come back to you later," Gideon said.

"Of course. My doors will always be open for you."

Gideon and Hannah stepped out of the two-story house where the administration was supposed to be. Luke and Lena saw them coming out and quickly asked.

"How was it?" Luke asked.

"There are 800 of them. We need to scout tonight to confirm their numbers and locate their watchtowers."

"Can you handle that, Luke?" Gideon asked.

Luke nodded. Normally it was Lyra's job, but he could also use the drone for recon. He would get everything ready, but first they needed a place to stay.

"Let's find an inn to rest."
