I Build a Modern Shelter in Fantasy World

Chapter 125: Logistics For Mission

***

Next day.

Earl Ashfield's residence.

Following the plan set the night before, Gideon divided the tasks among several people. Luke was in charge of equipment and supplies. Lena handled medical care and medicines. Gideon and Norton took responsibility for troop placement and evacuation routes. Hannah was assigned to help Luke with preparations.

"The location is northwest. There's a baron who rules there," Norton explained.

Gideon did not care at all. This guerrilla plan did not involve any nobles, no royal family getting involved, and no baronial troops coming to help.

"I do not care. My plan does not involve them at all."

"If that road is the only route up the mountain, I can be sure watchtowers will be set up at several points along it," Gideon said, pointing to several potential spots where the enemy might build lookout posts.

"First, we neutralize the guards in the south. Scouts falling asleep in the middle of the night is normal. They will not be suspicious," Gideon continued.

"Using timing to play on their psychology. Impressive," Norton praised.

"Second, the main team storms up and throws the first flashbang. That will blind their eyes and ring their ears. Smoke is deployed, molotovs are thrown," Gideon explained.

"Chaos will follow. Troops will panic because their vision is dazzled and their ears are ringing. When they recover, their tents will already be burning," Gideon said.

He pointed a wooden stick that looked like chopsticks toward a cliff. There was one section of forest there Gideon and his team could use to hide after the chaos began.

"The team will hide in the woods during the chaos. Troops will scatter, their attention divided. Some will chase, others will put out fires."

"At that moment, the team leaves the woods and eliminates all the archers on the cliff. By early morning, the team will already be in Luthe territory," Gideon said, pointing to the rendezvous point in a village near the nearest town on the border of Luthe.

Norton nodded. Gideon's explanation was clear and balanced. He knew where troops would enter, when they would create chaos, when they would hide, and when they would fight.

Gideon explained everything in detail. Even a regular soldier, hearing Gideon, would easily understand because Gideon's explanation was so straightforward.

"That's all from me. Do you have any other ideas?" Gideon asked.

Norton shook his head. He said many plans had been made before to destroy the enemy base there, but they always failed.

He felt desperate crossing that gorge, so he chose to leave a small force there as a guard in case the mountain base planned to attack.

"The situation could turn chaotic. If you use that momentum well, you could get your first victory in that area," Gideon explained.

"How's the plan?" Norton asked, curious.

"Stand ready with about 500 cavalry to attack that place. Panic will cause the troops to break ranks and flee. I will make many molotov bombs to create large fires," Gideon replied.

Norton nodded and looked back at the war map spread on the wooden meeting table. In short, Gideon's plan was to open the way for Moko's forces to seize the base and hold the new route or new attack front.

Gideon's plan carried high risk. If Gideon's team failed to open the way, the cavalry could not help.

"I need to make sure whether a cavalry attack will be effective at destroying that base," Norton said.

Gideon cleared his throat. He did not force Norton to help with the attack, but if the base was not taken quickly, they would recover and the chance to strike again would be gone.

"Bring your cavalry there and wait for the situation. If it is not possible, you can return."

"I understand," Norton said.

The meeting room door opened and Lena came in to tell Gideon and Norton two things. First, the Blue Rose Order troops had arrived as Norton ordered. Second, medical supplies and medicines had been prepared for the plan.

"All right, I'll excuse myself, Captain Gideon." Norton stepped out, leaving Gideon and Lena alone. Lena stepped closer and saw there were other small boats placed at several points around the mountain base.

"Any change in the plan?" Lena asked. Gideon shook his head.

"Just clarifying tasks. The plan stays the same."

"This is the second time we fight royal troops in a major mission. Our enemy is not Moko anymore, but Luthe," Lena said.

"They stole M17 technology. I cannot allow that," Gideon replied.

"There will be many battles ahead. Conserve ammo and avoid direct contact," Gideon said.

Lena agreed. She would try not to pull the trigger often. If they had to, they would shoot vital points important to the mission.

"Are you worried again?" Lena asked. Gideon fell silent.

"I am a little uneasy. Our ammunition supply is limited even though we have reserves. We do not know how the conflict will escalate."

"Should we send someone to Rockvalley to get ammo?" Lena asked. Gideon shook his head.

He still did not fully trust the Moko people, including Hannah and Norton. Gideon's technology was the kind of technology Moko needed to win the war. Gideon worried they might use the chance to steal his tech.

"We go with our own equipment. I do not want to open that safe for anyone else."

"I understand."

They walked out to see what Luke had done. Together with Hannah, they worked on making molotovs from glass bottles filled with kerosene and wicks.

When lit and thrown, the glass would break and spread burning fuel. That would be enough to create chaos in the mountain base tents.

"Look! Do you want to try?" Luke asked.

"How reliable will these molotovs be?" Gideon asked.

"If the bottle breaks, of course the tents will catch fire."

Gideon nodded. He saw not just one but five to seven molotovs prepared by Luke and Hannah. For Hannah, she never imagined such objects could be used as weapons.

Her mother had been right. Gideon and his team possessed a wealth of knowledge she needed. If she stayed with them, Hannah might become far cleverer in strategy than Lubert.

"What do you think of the bombs, Hannah?" Gideon asked.

"Impressive. I never thought I could make bombs from things like this," Hannah said.

"You will learn a lot later."

"As long as you do not betray me, you might learn a lot about our team's abilities."

"Use that knowledge to create the peace you want."

Hannah stood, bowed her head, and obeyed Gideon. "Of course. I understand, Lord Gideon."
