I Build a Modern Shelter in Fantasy World

Chapter 113: Baron's Meeting

Viscount Duncan welcomed Gideon and his team very well. Liam provided food, drinks, even a room for them. He did not want to leave a bad impression on Gideon.

"You are lucky to be here," said Liam.

That morning, he had already dressed in his noble clothing. He had eaten and bathed, then came to the lounge with his assistant to meet Gideon.

"What is it?" asked Gideon, curious.

"This afternoon, I plan to hold a meeting with the Barons. 18 Barons will come, you may join, Lord Gideon," explained Liam.

"A meeting of the Barons? What will you discuss?"

"Many things, especially since the Kingdom of Moko is not in good condition. The Mischo territory must prepare for what might happen," Liam explained.

By attending that meeting, maybe I can get information about the war in the north. Liam's idea isn't bad. Besides, I need to see how the other Barons behave in this situation.

"If you are busy it is fine, I will tell—"

"No. A meeting among Barons will be my first, I will not miss this chance," cut Gideon.

Liam smiled happily, nodding slowly as he said he would leave together with Gideon. But Gideon refused.

He chose to go there alone without Liam, to prevent suspicion among the other Barons and also to avoid jealousy.

Liam understood Gideon's intent and agreed, saying he would wait for Gideon at the meeting hall. The location was near the city square, Liam called it the Mischo Hall.

Gideon nodded. He would go with Lena to attend the meeting of Barons. Liam reminded him not to bring too much gear.

"Lately, news about the ghost team has been getting stronger in Mischo. The Barons are on alert."

"I understand," answered Gideon.

"You may borrow my clothes, the servants will help you."

Gideon turned to look at the servants who always stood in neat rows. He nodded in thanks while apologizing for troubling Liam again.

Liam did not mind. He already considered Gideon as his own friend, just like his friendship with Ashfield.

He and his assistant left the Viscount's residence, while Gideon followed one of the servants with Lena walking behind.

"What will we do later?" asked Lena.

"Sit and listen. As much as possible we must act arrogant like Barons usually do," answered Gideon.

"That goes against your attitude. You will act?"

"Yes, I will act."

Gideon and Lena went toward the room. One of the servants opened the wardrobe and showed noble robes. There were three different colors with different designs: red, yellow, and blue.

He chose blue, as well as the dress Lena would wear. The servants obeyed Gideon's orders, taking the two sets and helping Gideon and Lena wear them.

Luke did not join. Besides still sleeping soundly, he also had not eaten breakfast. It was better for him to stay at the Viscount's residence until Gideon returned.

What about their safety? They always carried their SIG M17 inside their clothes, and they were skilled in hand-to-hand combat. It was not difficult to protect themselves.

Finished dressing in noble clothing, Lena turned and looked at Gideon with admiration. Her eyes were used to seeing Gideon in tactical shirts, but now his appearance was different.

His athletic build, luxurious clothes, and handsome face made him look not like a Baron but more like a crown prince.

Gideon looked at Lena in awe. The blue shoulderless dress she wore added to her beauty, and her long, neat, brownish-blonde hair gave her an elegant and dignified impression.

"What is this? A wedding ceremony?"

The room door opened, showing Luke coming in with sleepy eyes. That reaction was natural since he had never seen Gideon and Lena dressed like that.

"You are awake?" asked Gideon.

"My stomach is hungry. I cannot sleep with it growling."

"Where are you going in noble clothes like that?" asked Luke.

Gideon explained everything to Luke about the meeting of the Barons. Luke listened and nodded.

If the two of them wanted to go there, then Luke would stay. He valued his stomach more than Gideon's life.

"Go on, I will stay here and eat well," joked Luke.

"You."

One of the male servants offered to be the coachman. Gideon allowed him. After everything was ready, he and Lena left in the carriage, leaving Viscount Duncan's residence.

Gideon and Lena felt no nervousness at all. They had already carried out dangerous missions, and this was nothing tense. Gideon only needed to come and listen to what the Barons would say.

What Liam said was true, the location was easy to find. Many carriages were already parked in front of the Mischo Hall, all the best kinds of carriages usually used by Barons.

A true noble meeting.

Gideon's carriage stopped. Both of them stepped down, helped by the coachman. Lena hooked her arm into Gideon's, surprising him.

"Act natural," whispered Lena.

"O-Of course. I was just surprised."

They walked on the red carpet toward the hall. At the end of the path, there were staff from the Viscount's residence checking the identity of the meeting participants. Every Baron had to show their seal and sign the guest book.

"Good morning, Sir."

"Please show your noble seal," he said.

Gideon reached into his robe pocket and gave the Baron seal. The staff examined it carefully, making sure it was authentic.

"Thank you, please write your name here," said the man.

Lena nodded, took the pen, and wrote Gideon's name in the guest book. After it was done, the two continued walking inside.

"I have never seen you before. Are you a new Baron?" asked a woman.

Gideon reflexively glanced back and saw a beautiful woman around 30s walking gracefully in a golden dress with floral patterns. She was accompanied by two guards who only wore trousers and were bare-chested.

"Yes, Viscount Duncan raised me as Baron a few months ago," answered Gideon.

"Really?" asked the woman. The strong fragrance of flowers came from her body, making Lena squint in jealousy.

Lena pinched Gideon's back to wake him up, trying not to let him be swayed by the beauty of the female sorceress before him. Gideon grimaced a little, reflexively turning briefly.

"I did not expect a Baron as handsome as you. I am Helena, Baron of the northern district," said Helena.

"I am Gideon, Baron of the southern border."

"Southern border? Isn't that where the pervert Nozel ruled?"

"You know him?" asked Gideon.

"He almost trapped me to make me one of his women. But he failed because Lord Duncan saved me," explained Helena.

"But guess what, I would not mind at all if I had to shake my body for you every night," Helena revealed, teasing.

Hearing that pushed Lena's jealousy to the limit. She grabbed Gideon's hand tightly, putting on a fake smile at Helena.

"The meeting will start soon. Let us end this talk here, Lady Helena."

Quickly, Lena pulled Gideon into the meeting room. Gideon looked and smiled. Lena's beautiful face had turned into a pout after he spoke with Helena.

He was pleased, because in a way, the woman showed her affection for him.

"Thank you, Lena."

"She is dangerous. Stay away from her!" said Lena firmly.

"I know."

The two kept walking until they arrived in the main hall. It was wide, with a square-shaped table. Gideon looked and saw 12 out of 18 Barons present. He also saw Liam had already come and was seated.

They exchanged glances. Liam smiled and nodded slowly. He was glad Gideon came as he had asked. Gideon's presence might help much in this meeting.

He sat in the seat provided, looking at several Barons who were mostly old men, fat-bodied with arrogant faces. Some of them were women, one of them Helena.

"You? Who are you?" asked an old man in a red robe with half-bald hair.

"I am Gideon, Baron of the southern border."

"Southern border? Are you the one who caused Nozel's death?" asked the man.

"His death was certain. It has nothing to do with me."

"Nozel was my good friend. You must explain many things to me about his death!"

"I have no duty to do that. If you were his friend, you should find out yourself the cause of his death," explained Gideon.

"YOU?! How dare you, bastard?!" he shouted.

Gideon kept his sharp gaze forward, then sighed and exhaled slowly. "I was joking. I will help you investigate his death."

Helena quietly watched Gideon's behavior. A new Baron, but brave enough to oppose Dickon like that.

She thought maybe there was something interesting she could find from this Baron named Gideon.

He is quite unique and brave. What makes him so daring like that? I must know. Maybe he can become someone I trust to defeat Dickon's influence.
