I Became the Mother of His Child

Chapter 134: Submitting the Career Transition Report

Resignation report? Song Yuanhuan has gone mad!

He was doing so well as a soldier, yet he's considering resigning just to have a baby? Isn't it true that soldiers never want to leave the army? Why does it sound so different coming from him, as if having another baby completely trumps being a soldier?

"Resignation report?" Xu Xiuxiu turned her head to look at Song Yuanhuan, her face full of puzzlement, gauging his words, "Song Yuanhuan, why would you think about resigning?" Her tone was stern and serious, and at this moment, Xu Xiuxiu had put aside her playful attitude toward Song Yuanhuan.

Faced with Xu Xiuxiu's questioning, Song Yuanhuan hadn't put away his playful attitude and explained with a joking air, "Nowadays, promotions in the army are quite difficult. At my age, I've probably reached the peak possible as a Lieutenant Colonel. Climbing any higher seems unlikely. Rather than that, it might be better to gracefully retire now while we're still young and try for a couple more kids!" Song Yuanhuan actually had quite a lovely thought. Naturally, Xu Xiuxiu didn't want to have a child because she feared the child wouldn't have a proper status. Xu Xiuxiu was afraid, and he, as a father, naturally couldn't bear it either: "Let's have another precious daughter, although having a son would be fine too. I love both, daughters and sons." Song Yuanhuan actually simply hoped for another daughter, but he wouldn't mind having a son.

As a father, he definitely wouldn't mind having more sons. Having ten or eight more would be even better; after all, he was confident that he could support them.

"Just like that?" Xu Xiuxiu clearly didn't believe Song Yuanhuan's words.

She could see that Song Yuanhuan truly loved the army, and his sense of belonging to the army was very evident. In the army, wearing the military uniform, he was stunningly handsome. She was reluctant to see him take off that uniform. He was a man born to wear a military uniform.

"Song Yuanhuan, I'm really not in the mood right now." Xu Xiuxiu knew that if Song Yuanhuan insisted on doing things his way, with her frail stature, she'd inevitably have to endure it, which is why she twisted her fair brows and put on a pitiful act. Song Yuanhuan always had a soft spot for this act.

"You'll feel like it in a little while," coaxed Song Yuanhuan with a peck on Xu Xiuxiu's red lips.

Xu Xiuxiu rolled her eyes speechlessly, about to struggle vigorously when suddenly a wave of nausea surged from her stomach, "Go away." Xu Xiuxiu immediately raised her voice, attempting to push Song Yuanhuan away but finally failing, as the acidic taste of her dry heaves surged to her throat, "Ugh! Ugh!" Facing Song Yuanhuan, Xu Xiuxiu retched, holding it in as best as she could lest she vomit on the bed, her eyes immediately reddening.

Song Yuanhuan instantly panicked, rolling off of Xu Xiuxiu, "Wifey, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Song Yuanhuan was completely frantic, gently holding Xu Xiuxiu's shoulders as she hurriedly leaned over the large bed towards the floor, continuing her dry heaves, his face instantly filled with worry turning as dark as the bottom of a pot.

"Ugh! Ugh!" Xu Xiuxiu, leaning her head out, clearly heaved even more severely.

Song Yuanhuan was in desperate panic, wearing only a small piece of clothing, sweat coldly beading on his forehead, "Wifey?" he called out dryly, hardly daring to touch Xu Xiuxiu.

"Go away," Xu Xiuxiu commanded, feeling completely hollowed out at this moment. After dry heaving for a while and feeling slightly better, she turned her head, grabbed the tissue nearby to wipe the corners of her mouth, and then glared weakly at Song Yuanhuan.

It was all his fault. If he hadn't come to argue with her early in the morning, she wouldn't have been so agitated to the point of vomiting acid.

"…" Song Yuanhuan, with furrowed brows, innocently rolled off the bed, silently picked up the clothes thrown on the floor to put them on, then slowly reached out to Xu Xiuxiu, "Come on, I'll take you to the hospital to have a look." He said firmly, leaving no room for refusal as he prepared to lift her.

Xu Xiuxiu, pale and weak, pushed against Song Yuanhuan's chest, "I'm fine, no need for the hospital. Just go boil some hot water for me to drink." Hot water cures almost anything in modern times!

"No! We need to go to the hospital," insisted Song Yuanhuan, staring at Xu Xiuxiu's pale, bloodless face.

"No, I said no and I meant it," Xu Xiuxiu snapped, pushing off Song Yuanhuan's hold and curling herself into the blankets, miserably closing her eyes to feign sleep.

Seeing this, Song Yuanhuan stared at the small lump wrapped up in bed for a long time, "Then I'll boil some water for you, and you lie down to see if you feel better?" Song Yuanhuan was very worried about Xu Xiuxiu but felt helpless and thus chose to compromise, soon the sound of military boots steadying on the floor as he left.

Xu Xiuxiu, hiding under the blankets, heard the soft sounds of the door opening and closing and then breathed a sigh of relief, poking her head out from the blankets to take a few deep breaths. Thinking back on the spontaneous wave of dry heaving earlier, she calculated the timing of her last menstrual period, and after a rough verification, Xu Xiuxiu couldn't help but laugh wryly. Lifting her hand in wonder, she gently stroked her abdomen, resignedly curling her lips into a satisfied smile as she closed her eyes.
