I Became a Malicious Streamer

Chapter 54

Jacky: Is this week’s company dinner okay for you all?

Cheolwoo: I’m good with it.

Papi Joah: I’m fine too!

Jacky: Since the restaurant is in Seoul, do you think Ryuah and Tex can come up?

Tex: Let’s make a trip to sightsee in Seoul! If the viewers find out we’re having a company dinner in the city, they’ll probably give us a couple of days off.

Cheolwoo: Ryuah is in Busan and Tex is in Ulsan.

Tex: Yeah, I’m planning to meet and go together.

Cheolwoo: If we go together, we won’t get lost for sure.

Jacky: So, you two are going up together, huh…

Papi Joah: Oh dear…

Cheolwoo: I totally missed the clues. Kids these days are quick, haha.

Tex: What kind of thoughts are you all having?

Ryuah: That’s not what it is!

Tex: I heard Ryuah is going to Seoul for the first time, so we’re just going together.

Jacky: A trustworthy older brother role…

Papi Joah: ^^

Tex: The director seems to be a romance fanatic;

Ryuah: Are we going to stream when we have the company dinner?

Cheolwoo: A casual stream? I’ve never done that before. Does anyone know how?

Papi Joah: If we stream, we might choke on our food!

Cheolwoo: Since we’re supposed to be relaxing for the company dinner, there’s really no reason to stream.

Tex: If we do, we should just show our faces briefly and turn it off. I don’t think viewers want to see us eating anyway.

Jacky: There are plenty of people who don’t even stream, and as Tex said, they often just show their faces briefly and then stop.

Cheolwoo: Then let’s do that.

Ryuah: So what’s the menu for the company dinner?? (cute puppy drooling emoji)

Jacky: I’ve booked a highly-rated fancy restaurant for a course meal!

Cheolwoo: The director sure has been working hard.

Tex: It’s been so long… How long has it been since we had a company dinner?

Papi Joah: Tex, are you trying to compliment the director?

Jacky: I’m sorry T_T. It’s been a busy schedule…

Tex: No, seriously, suddenly talking like we’re getting rid of someone. That’s not true, director!;;

Cheolwoo: Everyone is busy, so it’s not easy to coordinate schedules. Tex and Ryuah are coming from far away. We need to set things in advance like this.

Ryuah: I can’t wait; it sounds delicious…

Jacky: You can definitely look forward to it!

Tex: Mollru seems quiet. Is she asleep?

Papi Joah: I’ll contact her separately.

Cheolwoo: Then if there are no other issues, let’s meet this weekend.

*

“Yes, so this weekend there will be no broadcast. Come on, don’t clutter the chat room now. You guys have been nagging about how we weren’t having a company dinner. Where did you spend all the prize money? Why are we doing this so late? Well, it’s mainly because the only one who takes the lead in planning is the director. Plus, everyone is busy, making it hard to coordinate schedules.”

“Getting there? We should take the train. Subway? How can you take the subway from Busan to Seoul? That’s nonsense… Suddenly so many people come in. What? You heard it all from Ryuah? What? Oh, about going together… Why is she even saying stuff like that? It’s probably because we’ve only just started streaming. Look at this. Look at this. It’s nothing, but it’s drawing strange attention again. This is why you shouldn’t be careless with your words. I’m just assisting because she said it’s her first time going to Seoul. I’m worried she might get lost.”

[Mollru’s dog owner donated 1,000 won!]
– TexRyu up?

“What do you mean ‘up’? The director is also a romance fanatic. You don’t need to make it tough for yourselves too. Won’t it be delicious when we get back to stream our dinner? That’s a national rule, but I’m not the type to tell a good story. I strangely don’t have much to say. ‘The main thing is ranking the girls based on looks, haha, that’s enough!’ Are you going to type that in chat? I don’t mind if you roast me, but if the others do, well, you know that’s a ban, right? But I am curious about seeing them, not for their looks, but I genuinely want to meet them. Everyone’s really nice. We got super close during practice. Our team used to be underdogs, right? Starting from the underdogs, so there’s a certain bond? Something like that.”

[Lol, I’m learning how to shake right now]
[So immersive!]
[Lmao, it’s not the team you’re missing, it’s probably Ryuah you want to see]
[Lmao indeed]
[That one person I want to see…]
[Oh ho]
[That’s it~]
[Such an art of taking the lead, lol]
[Aside from Tex and Ryuah, does everyone live in Seoul?]
[Cheolwoo, be careful; you might fall into a drum barrel if you’re not careful!]
[Curious about how everyone will meet]
[Are you going to stream when you get there?]

“Stream? I’d rather not, to be honest. It’d be awkward while eating. If we do, we’ll probably just greet briefly and turn it off. Loyalty to the viewers? Nah~~ Seriously, do I really have to be uncomfortable even at a company dinner? It’ll be awkward enough just with us; it takes time to get close. And with the stream on, genuine selves won’t come out. Some might not even turn on their camera.”

Oh shoot.
Tex realized he might have made a mistake with his last comment.
The no-camera remark was obviously about Mollru.
Many people were curious about Mollru’s face because she was known for streaming without a camera, and thus, this company dinner had garnered significant attention.
Unintentionally giving bait, Tex’s slip didn’t go unnoticed.

[Mollru's loyal hound donated 100,000 won!]
– Please take care of our Mollru… She’s a hikikomori and doesn’t know how to socialize.

“Oh dear, yes. So, you’re a fan of Mollru. Thank you for the generous 100,000 won. Mollru, is there anything I need to take care of? You seem like someone who can handle yourself just fine, so I think you’ll be okay?”

[Handles well = utterly doing her own thing]
[Tex’s armor is deflecting hard, whoa]
[I can hear Ryuah’s smile rising]
[Can we control ourselves, please?]
[Mollru, why are you silent when everyone’s going out for a company dinner?]
[Yeah~ What’s with the last-minute notice~? No announcements~]
[How miserable must it be to hear news from others… is this NTR?]
[Umm, that’s not an appropriate way to say it]
[I didn’t go because I wasn’t asked? I never heard anything]
[She usually doesn’t go out, but still, it’s a team dinner, she should go]
[She’s not that socially inept]
[Did you get contacted?]

“For now, Papi’s trying to contact her separately. She seems to be asleep. I think her daily routine is a bit off. Did she stream a lot during Dragon Road? Wasn’t that a while ago? Is she still suffering from post-activity effects? Um… 10 hours is quite a lot. But is that really it? Oh, she’s just not naturally energetic.”

*

Papi Joah: Mollru, are you asleep?

Papi Joah: If you wake up, could you check Discord? We’ve set the date for our company dinner!

Papi Joah: There’s… No way you’re skipping it! (angry duck holding a hammer emoji)

Papi Joah: Just kidding, but please let us know if anything’s up, everyone will understand.

Mornings are always tough.
Calling 11 AM a morning feels a bit shameful, but it is.
Should I call it ‘waking up’ instead?

I only recently realized that sleeping too long makes my head feel funny.
From being a routine-living social person to becoming Ji-eun, I was forcibly becoming a jobless person.
There was no longer a need to wake up early in the morning.
That means there was also no need to forcibly shut my eyes at night.
Once the limit was lifted, I really began sleeping when I was sleepy.
As a result, my daily routine got all messed up.

I wasn’t staying up all night or anything like that.
I just shifted my sleeping time back by an hour.
From 1 AM to 2 AM, 2 AM to 3 AM, 3 AM to 4 AM…

Ultimately, I became unable to wake up early in the morning.
At first, I cheered for the freedom to sleep whenever I wanted, who knew I would long for the morning?
The sadder part is that the later I sleep, the more I end up sleeping…
Why that is, I don’t know.
Even if I try to sleep early, my biological clock is set, so sleep eludes me.

In reality, I might be the only human stuck on a 25-hour schedule in a 24-hour world, right?
But nothing would change because of that.
In a one-eyed village, a two-eyed normal person is just a monster.
Monsters too need to find a way to live like normal people.

I sought answers from the wise men of the internet, who knew everything, but was only told to stay up all night or join the military.
The former is impossible for me with this lousy stamina, and the latter… is an experience I’d rather not go through again.
Ultimately, the only solution left was to continuously push my sleeping time back by an hour until I fixed my sleep at 10 PM, 11 PM, or midnight.
Just yesterday, I went to bed at 8 AM.
In two weeks, I could easily sleep at 10 PM.
Amid this, the discussion about the company dinner came up.

Company dinner, I must go. I have to go.
Could I really go after sleeping at 8 PM today and waking up at 7 PM?
I’ve recently started to understand what people mean when they say they can’t hear the alarm clock.
At this rate, I might end up saying I’ll go and then no-show. I was contemplating when I fired off a message to Papi Joah.

Mollru: Is the company dinner at lunch?

Not long after, a reply flew back.
Papi Joah: The exact time should be settled soon. Why do you ask?

Mollru: I was wondering if it could be in the evening, like around 7 PM? Is that too late?

Papi Joah: I don’t mind, but I’m not sure if Tex and Ryuah can make it since they’re coming from far. But do you really have to have it in the evening?

Mollru: A true party starts at night!

Papi Joah is typing a message…
Papi Joah: Uhh… is that so?

Seeing Papi Joah struggling to respond to the white lie, I thought,
I couldn’t just say I couldn’t wake up for lunch!
