I Became a Malicious Streamer

Chapter 126

O Daesik, 28 years old. A man with a height of 176 cm and a weight of 67 kg. Viewers expect him to be one of the many public interest streamers on the Switch, but surprisingly, he has military experience. Yes, he’s even from the White Horse Unit!

Before enlisting, he spent a year as a college student, then after his discharge, took a break from college and has been streaming since he was 24.

He’s invested about five years of his life into streaming. He jumped to the Switch two years ago, having previously broadcasted mainly from Yellow City after traversing the continent.

It’s not easy to entertain the somewhat mischievous and rough viewers from Yellow City. If you say something wrong while sympathizing with them, it could lead to controversy, but if you shield yourself too much, you can’t satisfy their needs.

However, O Daesik has managed to maintain a balanced middle ground and has been streaming safely for several years, which has led to some catchy titles referring to him.

The Guardian of Yellow City, the Last Light of Yellow City, and the Underground Warden, among others… As an experienced broadcaster, every time he streams, new memes and nicknames pop up.

One of those nicknames is the Beauty Reader. It was a name that was somewhat different from the previous ones.

The trigger was trivial. Daesik had suddenly appeared on a female streamer’s late-night broadcast during the G-Star event.

It was a rather short conversation rather than a proper appearance. A beautiful girl streamer casually greeted Daesik, a big company representative, saying she was a fan.

What was peculiar was Daesik’s response.

He couldn’t even meet the beautiful streamer’s eyes, responding to her questions with short answers, and his blushing ears were an added bonus.

– Did you come for the event too, Daesik?

– Ah, yes. Uh… kinda. Yeah.

– Are you feeling unwell?

– No, no, I’m fine. Good luck, I’ll be going!

As the female streamer came closer, he stammered and quickly stepped back.

That short clip spread throughout the Switch, earning him the nickname Beauty Reader.

Where had the manly man, O Daesik, who used to charm his viewers, gone?

While Daesik called it an embarrassing past, the reactions from people were not bad. Some even said it was cute. For a while, the title “Switch Nerd Guy” circulated, and he even took high positions in the Male Streamer World Cup.

What this anecdote revealed was that viewers took notice of how popular the human named O Daesik actually was. Whenever he took a break, jokes would fly about him dating or going to clubs.

But now, those jokes turned out to be true.

[Clarify, clarify, clarify, clarify, clarify, clarify, clarify]

[Mollru can’t happen, Daesik, please]

[Daesik’s thoughts… Daesik’s thoughts… Daesik’s thoughts…]

[Alpha Male O Daesik has done it again]

[Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill]

[Is it okay that Daesik is like this? Is it okay that Daesik is like this? Is it okay that Daesik is like this?]

[What kind of relationship do they have?]

[Mol Daesik, this is rising]

[Where has the Beauty Reader O Daesik gone?]

[Beauty Bombardment, now an Alpha Male O Daesik, don’t look for him.]

“No…”

For a moment, Daesik was dazed, but he snapped back to reality. The broadcast title already stirred the pot, claiming he would collaborate with Mollru. Since Mollru had also hosted Daesik’s stream, at least 10,000 people were flooding in real-time.

It wasn’t surprising to have such reactions from people; Mollru’s appearance certainly had that kind of possibility.

This was what he had been careful about all this time. He had been pretending not to notice whenever Mollru’s name popped up in the chat.

BAM!

From one mistake, things spiraled out of control.

To be precise, Daesik had made no mistake. It was Mollru who had shown up out of nowhere and made a bombastic statement. Perhaps the very act of inviting Mollru was a mistake from the start.

Had this person gone mad? To suddenly say such things.

Daesik didn’t feel embarrassed or confused from what he heard. The days of being shy after hearing a single word were long gone, and he believed there was no reason for someone like Mollru to say such things to him.

He just wanted to quickly smooth over the situation.

“That’s not the case. That’s not the case at all. It seems like Mollru mis-spoke, right, Mollru?”

“Yes.”

“Could you explain? What are you eating?”

CRUNCH!

From the calm tone in Mollru’s voice came a strange sound. It was the sound of something hard being crushed in her mouth.

“It’s the peanuts we had at the company dinner last time… They were surprisingly good. They’re a snack, so they’re great to munch on when I’m bored. Want me to order one for you, Daesik?”

“No, I’m fine. But what you said earlier, what did you mean?”

“What do you mean?”

Could she really not know, looking at the chaotic chat? Or was she purposely pretending not to?

Though it was frustrating, he couldn’t get angry. He simply lowered his evaluation of Mollru a notch.

Like a squirrel munching peanuts, Mollru finally seemed to have checked the chat before slowly continuing her speech.

“Ah, I just said something out loud. Guys, don’t make such a fuss.”

[Fuss? Fuss? Fuss? Fuss?]

[You told a guy you thought about him, and we shouldn’t be in a fuss?]

[Ah lol, don’t make a fuss, you guys.]

[So what does it mean?]

[Want to see the broth go crazy?]

“I was seriously just thinking about him when I got a message. So I said that without much thought, it doesn’t mean anything!”

[You should speak sensibly, lol]

[Explain, clarify]

[I’m disappointed]

[Your excuses are so unconvincing that it feels real instead]

[LOL]

“I’ve got no reason to lie. I just said what I thought. If you don’t want to believe me, then don’t. I can’t tell you what to think.”

Mollru, saying that as if she wrapped up the situation, called out to Daesik.

“EOW, I’m going in, Daesik. Let’s play a duo game for now.”

“Ah, okay.”

The chat wasn’t entirely calmed down yet, but at least it was better than before, and Mollru, munching on peanuts, didn’t seem to care at all.

*

It’s not like we’re in elementary school; just talking between a man and woman doesn’t mean there’s anything going on.

If it goes on like this, only the parties involved will feel uncomfortable. Right now, it’s already like that.

My plan to grow closer to Daesik was on the brink of failure. Because of what happened earlier, Daesik wasn’t opening his mouth at all.

However, the game was running smoothly regardless.

“Assassin is coming around back, be careful.”

“I’ll keep an eye out. Please watch the front line.”

As I smoothly turned the mouse following Daesik’s commands, the screen rapidly shifted with the high sensitivity settings.

I spotted the assassin sneaking behind the fort, aiming for our allies.

Holding the scope, I waited for just a moment. When the masked man’s body became visible, he got excited and charged at our allies.

BAM-!

The sniper rifle roared to life, piercing the man’s head. A single headshot ended him in one blow. After not playing for a while, I was a bit worried, but it seemed I hadn’t lost my touch.

“Assassin cut. I’m coming to join you.”

“…It’s definitely comfortable.”

Daesik’s following words made me feel a bit proud.

For someone with a sense of gaming pride, compliments about being good at games never get old.

I began to think that Daesik might want at least one gaming buddy who’s decent at games.

“Teacher, are you not thinking of streaming?”

“Streaming? Why?”

“People are saying they want to see your perspective.”

After a moment’s pause, I replied.

“I’m not planning on streaming.”

That was the original purpose. Today was one of those rare streaming-free days, and I came to play games with Daesik, not to stream. Additionally, I was also there to assess his tier issue, which had dropped.

If I started streaming, I’d have to be mindful of everything. Today was supposed to be about casually playing games with a friend.

“Then could you at least release the hosting? People keep coming in through Mollru’s stream, you know? Over 20,000 people now…”

After Daesik asked me to release the hosting, I disabled the hosting feature set for the stream. But will this even matter? It feels like everyone who’s going to come has already shown up. The fact that I’m playing with Daesik on his stream must have already spread across plenty of communities.

BANG! Oops…

Even so, dealing with nasty viewers is something Daesik likely does better than I do, so I trust he’ll handle it somehow.

I just aimed to play games with Daesik, as originally intended.

“We won.”

Daesik’s voice, stating that, trembled slightly as if he were moved by a long-awaited victory.

“Something so easy…”

As I replayed the match in my mind, I realized Daesik hadn’t played poorly. His gameplay was what one could expect from an average player at that tier. The problem was his current tier being Diamond.

He once proclaimed he was going for Grandmaster, and now he was lower.

To put it bluntly, it was fair to say he had lost his form.

“Shall we play another match?”

Daesik proposed playing another game, seemingly unable to let go of the sweet taste of victory he just experienced.

The chat filled with comments about Mollru’s support being good or ugly went ignored, as if he didn’t see them.

You know, it’s well known that a victory after a losing streak is indeed very sweet. I certainly understood that feeling, but I intended to decline Daesik’s proposal.

After all, even if we raised his tier through such means, once I leave and he plays solo, his tier will soon drop again. That last match was merely a practice game to gauge Daesik’s condition.

I wanted to teach Daesik how to fish instead of merely handing him a fish.

So, there’s only one way to go.

“Let’s call it a duo for now.”

“Ah, right. I guess Mollru must be busy too, so thank you for the game.”

“Let’s head to the training ground.”

It’s a simple method.

It’s no different than before. You just keep at it until it works.
