Chapter 75: The Inn Encounter
Chapter 75: The Inn Encounter
“Boss, is there any free floor in this inn? I need to do something.”
The City Lord brought Yake to his usual inn. He and the boss were old acquaintances, after all.
“Of course! The third floor is completely vacant. Do you want to take it all, City Lord?”
As soon as the boss heard that the City Lord was planning to do something, he immediately understood he wanted to book an entire floor.
“Absolutely. Here, this is for you.”
The City Lord generously tossed three shiny gold coins from his sleeve.
“Thank you, City Lord! You’re so magnanimous! Here are the keys to all the rooms on the third floor, yours now!”
Seeing the City Lord’s generous payment, the innkeeper handed over the keys to the entire third floor.
“Okay. And don’t let anyone up to the third floor. You can manage that, right?”
“Of course! We’re old pals, right? When have you seen me mess up?”
The boss grinned with a cheeky smile.
“Alright. I leave it to you. Mr. Yake, here are the keys to all directions on the third floor. Pick a room and stay with her.”
The City Lord turned around and handed all the keys to Yake.
“Oh, thank you, City Lord!”
Yake accepted the keys, still thankful. He never expected the City Lord to book the whole third floor just to give Aierjisi a place to rest.
“There’s no need for thanks! Honestly, it’s nothing compared to what you did to help me.”
The City Lord patted Yake on the shoulder.
Compared to their efforts in defeating that darn Alien Creature, what he did was trivial.
The City Lord’s anniversary party was still ongoing. He had to keep it going; leaving halfway would be too improper.
“Yes, City Lord, but just a word of caution. This enemy is very tricky. They might cause other disruptions today.”
Recalling how that guy named Gilbaris showed up after Harker was defeated, Yake reminded the City Lord to stay vigilant.
“Yeah, I know. You two just rest here peacefully. If anything happens, use this to contact me.”
The City Lord took out a palm-sized crystal from his pocket and handed it to Yake.
“City Lord, what’s this?”
“A communicator. With a fixed line, you can use it to talk to someone far away. It’s a very handy magical tool. I’ve set up the communication line for you. Just touch the crystal when you need to contact me.”
The City Lord started demonstrating how to use the magical tool.
“Oh, I see! This is super convenient! With this, I can even contact my family from afar!”
“Exactly! Well, I need to be off. You two rest well here. If she wakes up, let me know, and I’ll prepare a lavish dinner for her.”
“Okay, thanks, City Lord!”
“Ay, I told you there’s no need for thanks! See you tonight!”
The City Lord left the inn to handle his business, needing to get the interrupted party back on track.
Yake took Aierjisi to the third floor of the inn, finding an empty room. He carefully placed Aierjisi on the bed, afraid of accidentally hurting her.
“Geez, this little Princess really knows how to stir trouble.”
Thinking back to when Aierjisi was so close to that Alien Creature, wasn’t she worried about what could happen?
“By the way, I wonder if these potions can help her regain some magic?”
Yake pulled out a few bottles of blue potions from his Subspace. These were magic potions he bought before meeting Aierjisi. Although they weren’t any use to him now, throwing them away felt too wasteful, so he kept them in his Subspace.
Since Aierjisi had fainted from exhausting too much magic, giving her these potions should help her regain some, right? He just wasn’t sure how much she could recover, given her attack style suggested a hefty amount of magic.
“Well, I guess it’s worth a try.”
Yake held Aierjisi’s chin, gently forcing her to open her mouth. He poured the potion into her.
No idea how much magic it would restore, but something is better than nothing, right?
“Hmm… since I have this opportunity, should I prank her a bit?”
Recalling how the little Princess played tricks on him while he was asleep, Yake couldn’t resist the urge to take revenge now that she was asleep and he was awake.
“Let me think, what should I draw on her cute little face?”
Pulling out some watercolor pens, Yake looked at Aierjisi’s delicate face. It seemed ridiculous, but he’d already decided what to draw. Yet, when it came time to do it, he just couldn’t bring himself to.
“Ah, forget it! You’re lucky you’re my little Princess.”
In the end, he could only helplessly choose to abandon the idea. He just couldn’t go through with it. Plus, knowing that if he did, she’d wake up and see her face covered in silly drawings, she’d probably whip him good for it. For the sake of his life, Yake thought this decision was very wise.
Knock, knock, knock!
“Mr. Yake! Miss Aierjisi! Are you in this room?”
Just then, Silver’s voice came from outside the door.
“Ah, is that Silver? We’re in here!”
Yake replied while opening the door, inviting Silver inside.
“How did you know we were here?”
“The City Lord told me you were on the third floor of this inn, but he didn’t specify which room. So I went from door to door until I found you.”
“Oh, I see. Did you need something? Aierjisi is still unconscious, so it’s not convenient for me to leave.”
“No worries! I wasn’t planning to leave by myself.”
“Ah?”
Hearing Silver’s words, Yake felt like his brain was short-circuiting. What on earth was this woman talking about?
