I Became a Knockoff Arms Dealer in the Marvel World

Chapter 16: Chapter 16: The Battle is About to Begin

Tony put on a nonchalant expression and said, "Don't worry. With Iron Man and War Machine teaming up, is there anything we can't handle?"

Rhodey, a soldier by training, wasn't as impulsive. With the intelligence still unclear, he wasn't keen on charging in recklessly. Shaking his head, he advised:

"What if Umbrella Corporation also has Iron Man suits? Their technology is so advanced, and if they've mastered the arc reactor technology, they likely have Iron Man suits too.

Even if they don't, could you withstand being locked onto by countless Jericho missiles?

Tony, I think we need to be more cautious."

Tony, already too committed to back down, dismissed Rhodey's concerns. Cutting him off, he said:

"Relax. If the situation goes south, I'll figure something out. I'm not an idiot. Do you think I'd charge in if they pointed a nuke at me?"

Hearing this, Colonel Rhodey looked even more worried. His expression darkened as he said:

"Don't jinx it. What if they really do have nukes? Acting without solid intelligence makes me uneasy. Tony, are you really confident about this?"

Tony pounded his chest and guaranteed, "Don't worry. Taking down this low-level arms dealer is well within my capabilities."

Rhodey couldn't help but mutter under his breath, "I just hope we're not dealing with an arms-dealing titan."

---

The luxurious private jet cruised through the stratosphere at 17,000 feet, flying at a speed of 700 kilometers per hour. If everything went smoothly, they'd arrive in Sokovia in three hours.

Unbeknownst to them, Carl really did have nukes.

Not just one, either.

Near Umbrella Corporation's headquarters, intercontinental ballistic missile launchers equipped with strategic nuclear warheads were on standby 24/7. These served as Carl's ultimate deterrent for worst-case scenarios.

---

Sokovia, 12:40 PM

Carl had received an early warning from Red Queen that morning. Around 3 a.m. the previous night, an unknown weak artificial intelligence had attempted to breach Umbrella Corporation's internal network firewall.

Although the intruder had failed to break through, and the Red Queen deemed the situation under control, she hadn't bothered waking Carl from his sleep.

Now, hearing this bad news first thing in the morning, Carl had to put his plans to send Wanda off to America—where she would establish a private hospital and begin their lucrative venture—on hold.

Wanda wouldn't be leaving for now. In fact, the strongest asset Umbrella currently had was the Scarlet Witch, whose powers had recently awakened.

Carl himself, essentially a super-sized version of Captain America, was no weakling, but he was definitely no match for Iron Man.

After quickly washing up in the bathroom with cold water to wake himself up, Carl began to grasp the gravity of the situation.

He thought for a moment. In the current stage, the only ones with weak artificial intelligence were likely Hydra's Zola or Tony Stark's JARVIS.

Carl had no recent conflicts with Hydra, and since they were in a dormant state, they had no reason to provoke him.

That left Tony Stark.

"Where's Tony Stark now?" Carl asked.

Red Queen's voice responded promptly:

"Based on satellite surveillance, Tony Stark is currently aboard a private jet en route to Sokovia."

"What?!" Carl was shocked. "And you didn't tell me this sooner? Weak artificial intelligence really isn't smart enough."

This was clearly an attack aimed at Umbrella.

Did the Red Queen really need Stark to break into the headquarters in his suit before sounding the alarm?

Although annoyed at the Red Queen, Carl knew now wasn't the time to complain.

"What about S.H.I.E.L.D.? Are they making any moves?"

Carl's biggest fear was a collaboration between S.H.I.E.L.D. and Stark targeting Umbrella Corporation.

"Within the last 24 hours, a large number of unidentified armed personnel have been spotted around the perimeter of the ground base."

"Facial recognition identifies them as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents."

"F***!" Carl cursed. The worst-case scenario had come true.

There was no doubt now—this was all directed at him.

Carl quickly issued orders: "Initiate Level 3 emergency protocol! Deploy all automated fire-control missile launchers immediately!"

Then, he rushed out of his office and headed to Wanda's bedroom, seeking reinforcements.

"Wanda, wake up! The enemy is at our doorstep!" Carl shook the sleeping Wanda with urgency.

---

Wanda reluctantly opened her eyes. Last night's intense "battle" had drained most of her energy, and she still felt weak all over.

Still groggy, she asked, "What's going on? What enemy?"

Carl quickly explained the situation, though he painted Umbrella as the innocent party, vaguely stating that Tony Stark was on his way to cause trouble.

Upon hearing Stark's name, a surge of unrelenting resentment flashed through Wanda's mind, jolting her awake.

"Carl, you don't need to worry. I'll protect you. I've been meaning to settle the score with Tony Stark anyway!"

With that, Wanda got up, washed quickly, and donned her battle attire—a red leather jacket and matching pants.

Filled with anger, Wanda followed Carl to the elevator, heading toward Umbrella's headquarters on the surface.

---

Once they reached the top-floor office, Carl felt a wave of relief. With Wanda there, his anxiety dissipated.

At this stage, Carl was confident no one could defeat the woman in the red dress.

The title of "Scarlet Witch" wasn't one given lightly.

Though hiding behind a woman might seem shameful, given that Stark and S.H.I.E.L.D. were playing dirty by storming his base, survival took priority.

Thick-skinned as he was, Carl wasn't going to let pride get in the way.

---

1:20 PM, Sokovia

The temperature outside had dropped to -13°C.

Snow continued to fall from the overcast skies, a fitting backdrop to the impending battle.

Tony Stark's jet arrived at Sokovia International Airport right on time.

Not long after landing, two figures in Iron Man suits soared into the sky, heading toward Umbrella Corporation's headquarters in the northern suburbs.

Umbrella's surveillance satellites tracked the private jet and the two flying figures. Seeing them, Carl tensed up.

But he quickly realized one of them must be Rhodey, Stark's close friend and ally, the War Machine.

Glancing at Wanda, who was firmly holding his hand, Carl felt his tension ease again.

With Wanda around, it didn't matter how many Iron Men showed up today—they wouldn't stand a chance!
