I Am The Only Witch Hunter

Chapter 244: Looting

Some of the pellets went through. None was able to cause a mortal injury to Blair.

A pellet grazed Blair's cheek, painting his face with one straight red line.

"Tch. What even is this spell? Telekinesis? No. Not really."

The barrier saved Blair's life but it was destroyed completely in the explosion. Siderius suddenly appeared out of nowhere at the side of Blair.

He already pulled out his flaming sword.

"Boo!"

If Blair had any blood left, they would have retreated from his face. But he barely had any left anymore. His body was being kept alive purely by magic.

"No! Sto..."

Blair couldn't even finish his last words as the Blazing Soul went through his neck and decapitated him.

"Heh! A witchling. You should have a lot of Dark Aether inside you."

Siderius didn't waste any time. He looted Blair's body.

"Well! Well! What do we have here? Ten gold coins. Fifty silver coins. Eight Mana Tears. You really bring a fortune with you. Huh, Blair?"

Siderius quickly emptied Blair's pocket. He also took the witch items like the Substitution Dummies or some curses Blair brought with him.

These items were fueled by Dark Aether. Using it would taint the user similar to how the witch corrupted themselves. Siderius had no intention of using them but he could still sell them for a good price.

"Eight Substitution Dummies? Along with the two that he has used, Blair brought with him ten Dummies? This guy might be a Witch of Pain but he was surely afraid of death."

Once he acquired everything valuable, Siderius proceeded with the Last Rite of the Dead. This would prevent Blair's soul to ever be raised or questioned by other witches. They would never be able to find out why he died.

After the Last Rite of the Dead, Siderius drew the Malevitus Extraction Seal and turned Blair into pure Dark Aether Stones.

His soul passed to the afterlife. His body turned to Dark Aether. He was completely processed by Siderius. The last trace of Blair disappeared from this world.

"Nine pieces? That's a lot of Dark Aethers. He is at the same rank as Nora but they are very different in power. Similar to how Jude was much stronger than the average witchling."

Luckily, because of the battle from before. No one dared to approach the docks. It had been empty for the last few hours, allowing Siderius to do as he pleased.

Siderius returned to the House of God. Bodies lay on the floor. All of them belonged to the Shadow Blade organization. Only a few of the assassins were alive but it would take a few more hours for them to wake up.

Siderius returned to where he had left Jenny. The handler was still there, murmuring in her dream. The left side of her forehead had a huge purplish bruise, probably because of Siderius' punch from earlier.

The witch hunter picked Jenny up and carried her outside. She's the only one that he needed. In her memory, Siderius would find the identity of the assassin that took the job to kill River. Even if she didn't have what he needed, Jenny would surely be able to point him to the one who knew.

"Uhm..."

Siderius walked past a body on the floor when he heard some moaning beneath. The hunter looked down to see Teddy lying on the floor covered in blood.

"Hey! You're alive?" Siderius tapped lightly on Teddy's cheek. Surprisingly, Teddy was alive.

"You are one lucky bastard, aren't you? I thought you were going to die for sure." Siderius talked by himself. "As promised, if you survive, you shall become my servant from now on."

Siderius wrapped his arm around Teddy's waist and picked him up. He carried two people on either side and walked away.

When he exited the church, silver strands fell down from the sky and wrapped around him.

"Light Aether? But why?" Siderius looked around and spotted the statue of the Outsider. Everything suddenly made sense.

"Thank you..." Siderius said then got out of there as quickly as possible. He did not like to get in the middle of any god. Especially an ancient one.

He only wanted to be invisible and then one day became a god himself. However, he was still a mortal at the moment and he was not going to risk angering a god by being rude.

Siderius picked a rather empty street to get out of Blacklungs and returned to the Rottin Woods, his home ground.

He tied Jenny to the same tree that he had tied Teddy. As for Teddy, Siderius removed his shirt then poured a few drops of Flesh Restoration on his wounds to help with his recovery. He had quite a lot of bandages so he used it to secure a few broken bones.

Siderius did have the Bone Regeneration but it was much harder to make than Flesh Restoration so he was not going to waste that on a new servant.

Once everything was done, night fell. Siderius left Teddy lying in a safe area, near Jenny, then he left to hunt for something to eat.

This part of the woods was different from the part up North that Siderius was familiar with. The woods had more humidity here and there were quite a few different tropical trees that the North didn't have.

He found a few delicious iguanas that would be perfect for dinner. Siderius used the previous campfire that he had set up and began to make iguana skewers.

He removed the bad parts of the iguana and skewered the good parts on a stick to roast over the fire.

A while later...

Teddy's nose twitched as he smelled the delicious aroma of roasted meat. His eyelids fluttered a little bit before they were completely open.

A sense of Déjà Vu washed over Teddy as he saw the shadow of that man once more over the fire.

"Awake?" Siderius said.

"Yes, my lord." Teddy tried to get up but his broken bones caused him to groan in pain. "Argh!"

"Slowly. I just brought you back from the dead. Don't ruin all my effort now."

"You... You did?!" Teddy widened his eyes.

"What do you think?" Siderius smiled. He turned back to the campfire. "Get over here and try these pieces of roasted meat."

"Yes, my lord." Teddy got up again but he did it slowly this time. The pain was there but it was much less noticeable.

He came and sat down beside Siderius. The former assassin saw Jenny being tied in the same tree he once had been.

Teddy looked down at himself. His hands touched his body all around. His bones were still broken but many of his flesh wounds were healed.

"This wasn't an act of any medicine. This was magic." Teddy thought so.

"Why did you save me?"

"Aren't you my servant, Teddy?"

"You are too naive, Lord Snow. You can't trust me. You should have left me to die."

"Your death brings no benefit to me, Teddy. Maybe you're right, I am naive. But are you really telling me that you're not happy that you can see your family for another day?

More precisely, for a lot more days?"

Teddy stared into the dancing flame. As cynical as he was, he couldn't help but curved up his lips into a smile. He could see his son once more.

"I am forever grateful to you, my lord."
