Chapter 672: Torment
Wang Ye thought carefully for a moment and said, "No, I don't recognize any of those names you mentioned, nor have I seen any bugs or the like."
"Those are visions of the future. I'm not sure why I see these things, but they must have some significance," Ezekiel said.
"I'm only concerned with whether it will die," Wang Ye said.
"I can only offer a vague guidance, perhaps your mission is not yet accomplished. Your future will, one day, intertwine with it. This is likely your destiny," Ezekiel said.
"I don't believe in any godly fate, but if I'm destined to kill it, how can I do it in my current state? Moreover, your abilities come from the Heavenly Falling Objects, and if these objects can predict the future, did they foresee their own destruction?" Wang Ye asked.
"Maybe it saw it too, but it accepted its fate," Ezekiel replied.
"I don't quite like this kind of explanation, but since you can see it, there must be some meaning... However, if you can see those people, it means humanity isn't completely wiped out yet," Wang Ye said.
"That's where the contradiction lies," Ezekiel shook his head.
"Is there really any mistake in that? I haven't seen the scenes you described, but if this happens in the future, it only proves that many people are hiding in various places around the world," Wang Ye said.
"I can't explain it either. Maybe it's as surreal as the objective reality, those people may not even be here. Perhaps only the gods know the meaning," Ezekiel said.
"There are no gods, Ezekiel, no gods, only a mutated monster created from injected substances," Wang Ye said.
"I have nothing more to say. What do you plan to do next?" Ezekiel asked.
Wang Ye thought for a moment and said, "I need to heal my body, at least gain some strength, and then find a way to leave. Leave this damned place and see if I can find any survivors, maybe I can find the people you saw."
"Escaping from here won't be easy. Wherever the divine light shines, it's all its kingdom. It doesn't even need a breath to appear right in front of you. I can't escape, and neither can you," Ezekiel said.
"At worst, I'll be killed by it, I don't care. But to do nothing and just lie here as a witness to its evil deeds? I can't do that," Wang Ye said.
"Good luck," Ezekiel smiled.
Wang Ye shakily got to his feet, nodded at her, and left the room.
When he returned to his room, he lay back on the bed. In his current state, he couldn't do anything and needed to recuperate properly.
Lying on the bed, Wang Ye was overwhelmed with emotions. For the first time, he was without a plan, without an idea.
Escape.
It sounds easy, but how to do it? He doubted the existence of "cars" in this world anymore.
Without a vehicle, as an ordinary person, his journey would be limited each day. Beyond Etolria lies vast deserts, and that sun in the sky, its divine power can appear before him at any moment.
Even if he managed to escape the country, he might die in the desert.
Everything familiar was gone, and even though Ezekiel gave him a sliver of hope, he was powerless.
Without superpowers, it was difficult to take a step here. However, even if he became its knight and then betrayed... he didn't believe the knights of the divine power could defeat it.
As he was lost in these random thoughts, Ahab walked into the room, personally bringing a tray of food for him.
The food was still those large, fragrant breads, and a cup of oats.
Without a word, he ate quickly and quietly, feeling energy gradually return as food reached his stomach.
He tilted his head back and drank all the oats, placing the cup back on the tray. Ahab watched him with a smile but didn't leave.
Wang Ye assumed Ahab had something to say, but Ahab remained silent. Suddenly, a large hand pulled him off the bed, and he fell to the floor.
He looked up to see that it was the divine power.
"You think I can't hear your schemes?" the divine power sneered.
Then, it crushed Wang Ye's knee with a stomp.
"Ahhhhhh!!!!" Wang Ye screamed in pain.
The next moment, he was grabbed by the neck, lifted up, as the divine power's left hand extended a bone knife to stir into his abdomen.
Wang Ye felt as if his internal organs and intestines had shattered, and the food he had just eaten spewed out from his mouth, leaving a bloody mess in his abdomen.
The divine power pulled out his intestines, tossed them to the floor like trash, and then crushed them underfoot, before smashing his face into his own vomit.
After doing that, the divine power slowly walked to the door of the room.
"Finished?" Ahab asked.
"I'll keep an eye on him, Ahab, don't let him starve to death, but don't let him eat too much," the divine power said.
With that said, it disappeared at the door.
Ahab sighed, walked around the foot of the bed, and pulled Wang Ye out of the pile of vomit, then his eyes flashed with a glimmer, instantly healing him.
"You shouldn't have angered it," Ahab said.
"Just kill me already, I won't change my mind! Never!" Wang Ye shouted.
"You will, human limitations are here, it will destroy your body, and so will I, but my methods are more... gentle. How long can you endure? The door to the new world is wide open for you, yet you insist on resisting," Ahab said.
"This is hell... what new world..." Wang Ye said.
Ahab took a deep breath, threw him back onto the bed.
At this moment, Wang Ye felt discomfort, his body was incredibly weak, as if all energy was drained, and his forehead felt cold.
"What have you done to me?!" Wang Ye turned to Ahab, angrily asked.
"I've made you sick, with 28 illnesses, I'll cure you after 24 hours, let you rest for half an hour, and then... continue," Ahab said.
"You... ugh... ugh..." Wang Ye dry heaved, parched, collapsing onto the bed, unable to move, his eyes burning painfully, and the pain in his stomach caused his toes to curl tightly, with a pounding headache.
"Have a good sleep, they are all chronic diseases, you won't die," Ahab smiled.
With that, she also turned and left the room, leaving the terribly ill Wang Ye alone in the room.
Wang Ye was already sweating all over, struggling to breathe, the pain in his abdomen was unbearable, his lips pale, his face ashen.
As a medic, he knew well that these were symptoms of gallstones, duodenal ulcer, gastric ulcer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, tuberculosis... and other diseases, although they were early symptoms, normal people wouldn't endure such combined pain.
But more painful than the physical agony was this hellish imprisonment and the destruction of hope.
