Hunters: Moonlit Shadows

Liam lunged at the vampire holding Elena. His claws tore through its arm. The creature howled, releasing Elena and stumbling back.

"Who are you?" the injured vampire glared at the wolf.

Liam stared at the vampire, growling. "Kill him"

"What are you talki…."

Korrin shot from the injured vampire's shadow, slamming the injured vampire against the wall of the cabin, the sheer force splintering the wooden planks.

Elena stumbled to her feet, clutching her wrist where the vampire had grabbed her. Her dagger was still out of reach. She dove for it.

The second vampire blocked her path "Just what do you think you're doing"

Elena rolled to the side just as its claws raked the ground where she had been. She grabbed a shard of broken wood, wielding it like a makeshift weapon. "Yield"

The vampire laughed, dodging her first strike with ease. It lunged at her.

"Don't forget about me" Liam landed on it, his claws sinking on its shoulder. He threw it across the room like a ragdoll, his golden eyes meeting Elena's for a brief moment.

"Get out!" he growled, his voice guttural and commanding.

Elena hesitated, she hated running, she hated leaving a fight unfinished but something about the way he said it sent a chill down her spine.

"I said get…." The injured vampire surged forward ramming into Liam interrupting his speech.

The two went crashing into the cabin.

The second vampire turned its attention back to Elena. "Looks like it's just you and me now."

Elena gritted her teeth, clutching the shard of wood tightly. Her eyes widened and her hands began to shake, she lunged at the vampire. The creature dodged her strike, laughing as it toyed with her.

"You're brave," it said, circling her. "But bravery won't save you."

Elena spun, slashing wildly. She managed to graze its arm but the vampire retaliated with a swipe of its claws that sent her crashing into a tree.

"Aaaagh" Elena screamed as pain exploded in her side as she gasped for air. Her vision blurred as the vampire approached, its fangs bared.

"I'm beginning to wonder how you killed other monsters" it sighed as it stepped forward "You're too weak for a hunter"

Liam burst out of the cabin, his fur streaked with blood. His eyes blazed as he saw Elena. He barreled into the vampire, his claws ripping through its chest.

"Move!" he barked at Elena.

She pushed herself up, clutching her injured side and stumbled towards the inner forest. The injured vampire reappeared, grabbing her from behind.

Its breath felt like ice on her neck as it whispered, "You should've run when you had the chance."

Liam roared, leaping toward them.

"Don't you dare touch her you bastard." Liam yelled, his voice echoring through the forest.

The vampire smirked plunging its claws into Elena's chest. She gasped as the warmth of her blood soaked her shirt. Her vision dimmed as she crumpled to the floor.

"Shit, I failed again" she cursed as Liam's enraged howl and the vampire's cackle echoed in her ears.

Darkness enveloped her, she felt cold. The echoes of ghosts and screams filled her ears, suffocating her.

Elena's eyes flew open. She stared at her car, placing her hand on her mouth. She doubled over, clutching her chest.

"No, no, no," the cold wind blew as she muttered, her voice trembling with frustration. She slammed her fist against a nearby tree, the bark biting into her knuckles. "Not again."

Elena straightened, her jaw tightening as she scanned familiar surroundings.

She cursed under breath, rubbing her temples as a wave of exhaustion washed over her.

"This damn forest," she growled resting on her car, her hand tightened around the hilt of her dagger as she took a deep breath "This damn ability."
