Chapter 219: Chapter 209.1 : Fight!!
Boom—
A burst of golden light, a wave of energy, and fragments of flesh filled the entire area, as if trying to consume the surrounding darkness completely.
However, the brilliance was fleeting, and the darkness quickly regained its dominance.
"Move!" Germain pointed in a direction without sparing a glance at where Ging had been. "Don't stop—keep the formation as much as possible."
"Got it," Bisky and Shizuku replied in unison.
The three of them darted forward like arrows, shooting out from the gate. Under the shadow of the golden aura bullets, they sprinted away, escaping the explosion's radius within moments.
But soon, from all directions, enormous and terrifying creatures surged in—the second wave of monsters had arrived.
Knowing they couldn't avoid battle this time, Germain and his group charged headlong into the fray. Towering creatures, whose sheer silhouettes seemed capable of swallowing them whole, loomed over the battlefield.
With a roar, Bisky transformed into her muscular form, slamming her palm forward. A powerful surge of aura struck a boar-like beast, sending it crashing into the ground and forming a crater beneath it.
Shizuku used her vacuum cleaner, Blinky, to absorb nearby debris before firing it back at the monsters. The barrage disrupted the creatures' movements and threw off their sense of judgment.
Germain sprinted up the arm of a towering, bear-like creature, which stood upright like a mountain. His spiral staff morphed into a massive spear, which he hurled with precision.
Whoosh!
Splat!
The Brion embedded in the bear's eye socket shattered, releasing a thick, black mist that gushed out like a broken pipe!
Germain landed smoothly on the ground and regrouped with Bisky and Shizuku. Without lingering to engage further, they identified a gap in the encirclement and broke through.
Behind them, the massive bear finally collapsed with a ground-shaking thud.
The "Beasts" of the Ancient Labyrinth City were primarily "Parasite Hosts." Each one was controlled by a "Brion."
Because these Brions operated independently, gaps often appeared within the encirclement, providing opportunities to escape.
Using this knowledge, Germain and his team successfully broke free from the second wave of monsters.
Yet, the roar of the Night Stalker Shark echoed from far behind them, accompanied by the deafening sounds of Ging battling the parasitic beasts.
The massive commotion quickly attracted a third wave of monsters.
The "Brion Parasite Species," though fewer than a hundred in number, were mostly enormous in size. Just a handful of them were enough to block all paths within the "Ancient Labyrinth City."
The group had no choice but to use force to clear the way.
After Germain used his flamethrower to burn away the approaching "Brion Parasite Fog," he noticed a monster suddenly charging from an angle. This one was faster than any of the previous "Brion Parasite Species."
It resembled a giant lizard, its body covered in scales. However, when it opened its abyss-like gaping maw, it didn't reveal a tongue. Instead, nestled inside was a "Brion."
Brion abruptly split into six segments, exposing rows of sharp, densely packed teeth. The creature spewed a cloud of black fog at Germain, followed by four tendrils tipped with hooked claws lashing out toward him.
Hissss!
Germain unleashed his flamethrower against them. Flames roared, and sparks scattered in all directions, creating a scene reminiscent of a fireworks display.
"Shizuku!"
At that moment, Germain heard Bisky's sharp cry. After fending off the giant lizard's assault, he turned toward the sound.
He saw Bisky holding Shizuku, both of them looking battered.
Bisky, now in her enlarged form, had her golden hair whipping wildly in the fierce wind.
Shizuku lay in her arms, a chunk of flesh missing from her side. Blood soaked Bisky's elegant dress in wide streaks.
Germain's eyes widened slightly before the sound of tendrils whipping through the air drew his attention. He dodged the clawed strike by shifting his body sideways.
His gaze shifted back to the "Brion Lizard," which was still spewing black fog. The fog wasn't just an attempt to parasitize him—it was also meant to obscure his vision.
This was getting ridiculous.
Germain put away his flamethrower and conjured his serrated meat cleaver, its blade gleaming coldly.
"Night Owl" activated.
With lightning speed, he circled to the lizard's side, leaping onto its scaly body. In one swift motion, he sprang upward, his cleaver transforming with a snapping sound into a longer blade.
In that instant, a premonition struck him.
"Beast Hunter" activated.
With an extraordinary momentum, Germain let out a loud shout, gripping his blade with both hands as he unleashed a crescent-shaped slash wave downward!
At the same moment, the "Brion Giant Lizard" noticed the presence above it. It raised its head, its mouth half-open, revealing glimpses of the "Blooming Brion" inside.
In that instant, following its primal instincts, the lizard snapped its mouth shut, trying to protect the "Blooming Brion" within.
However, when the slash wave struck the "Brion Giant Lizard," it exploded with immense power. A blinding white light burst forth, as if a cannonball had fallen and detonated!
Critical Hit!
