Hunter x Hunter : Germain Joins The Hunt

Chapter 218: Chapter 208.2 : Night Stalker Shark!!

However, suddenly, a sharp, needle-like sensation made both of them turn their heads simultaneously. Once again, they looked out through the cracks of the stone door.

And then, they locked eyes with the small, hollow black pupils of the "Night Stalker Shark."

It had returned?!

Could it be that even though Germain and Ging had maintained "Zetsu," it still managed to sense them using an extraordinary "En" far beyond what humans accustomed to peaceful environments could achieve?

As Germain and Ging stared in shock, the "Night Stalker Shark" slowly opened its massive, blood-filled mouth. Jagged, spear-like teeth and dark red, rigid flesh were revealed within.

It raised its head toward the night sky, toward the entire "Ancient Labyrinth City," and let out a roar.

"Rooaar—!"

The sound tore through the silence, echoing far and wide, reverberating between the cubic stone pillars.

Then, the entire area fell silent once more.

"Goddammit—" Ging cursed through gritted teeth as he stood up. "Now I understand what Don Freecss meant by 'troublesome.'"

Germain, wasting no time, turned and ran toward Bisky and Shizuku, who were lying in the corner.

Bisky had already been startled awake. She shot up from her sleeping bag like a spring, her disheveled golden hair tangled into a chaotic mess.

Squinting, she saw Germain rush over and was startled. "What's going on?" she asked.

"Enemy attack," Germain said succinctly. "It's likely going to be a massive wave of enemies."

Without hesitation, he forcefully shook Shizuku awake.

Bisky didn't ask any further questions and immediately crawled out of her sleeping bag, quickly tidying up her clothes.

Shizuku groggily sat up as Germain handed her the black-rimmed glasses lying nearby. He shoved them into her hands and urged, "Wake up. We're breaking through."

"What… what do you mean by 'breaking through'?" Shizuku muttered, rubbing her eyes and putting on the glasses.

Just then, the "Night Stalker Shark" roared for the second time.

"Rooaar—!"

This time, it wasn't just the roar of the beast. The air was filled with the snarls of other "creatures" as well.

Shizuku woke up fully alert. She quickly crawled out of her sleeping bag and, like Bisky, hastily adjusted her clothing.

"We need to leave immediately," Ging said, standing near the stone door. His eyes stayed locked on the movements of the "Night Stalker Shark." "It's not attacking us right away. It's calling for reinforcements."

"There might still be a chance if we move before we're surrounded," he added.

Bisky, now ready, joined Germain at Ging's side, peering outside.

Shizuku used her "Blinky" ability to swallow the lamp post, sleeping bags, and other items.

Once items are released from their "card state," they cannot be re-sealed as cards unless they return to Greed Island for re-sealing.

She quickly stuffed everyone's belongings into the "Blinky," saving the silver suitcase containing the "cards" for last to ensure easier access later.

With the lamp post gone, the room was plunged into darkness. Only faint, grayish light seeped through the cracks in the walls.

"I'm ready," Shizuku announced once she was done.

"Then let's break through," Germain said.

The Night Stalker Shark's third roar echoed through the air, louder than before. This time, the snarls of other "beasts" were mixed with it, accompanied by heavy scraping sounds.

The first wave of beasts, drawn in by the Night Stalker Shark's cries, began to appear between the stone pillars.

Some were taller than the pillars, others shorter, filling every gap between them.

The "parasitic beasts" appeared in such a horrifying swarm that it sent chills down their spines.

"It's like monsters straight out of hell…" Bisky muttered softly after a moment of staring.

"I'll draw their attention," Ging said. "You take the chance to escape. Don't worry about me—I'll catch up later."

Germain didn't hesitate or waste time with sentimental remarks like, "We can't abandon our comrade." Instead, he made a swift decision: "Understood."

Ging nodded. Without giving Bisky or Shizuku time to react, he suddenly pushed the stone door open, letting it crash to the ground with a loud thud.

The parasitized giant beasts infected by "Brion" immediately filled the doorway with their twisted, dark silhouettes, blocking out the moonlight completely.

Towering, mountain-like bodies pressed together, accompanied by deep, ragged breaths, low growls, and an overwhelming killing intent. The sheer intensity of it all struck the group like an unrelenting wave.

Germain's "pressure" had unknowingly risen to 34 points, but he wasn't paying any attention to it now.

Ging charged forward, striding boldly into the midst of the watchful, predatory eyes of countless monsters.

"Hah… this works too… this makes it even more interesting! If Don Freecss can do it, then so can I!"

Raising both hands as if praising the moon, Ging began to gather an astonishing amount of Nen. The energy condensed at a terrifying speed, swirling like a cyclone until it formed into a powerful, radiant Nen sphere!

This Nen sphere emitted a dazzling golden light, piercing through the darkness and drawing the attention of nearly all the surrounding monsters.

The monsters roared at him, their cries thundering in his ears like a storm. More and more of them gathered, inching closer with every moment.

"Come on, come on—"

With a swift motion, Ging hurled the enormous golden Nen sphere straight into their midst.
