Chapter 41: Wedding and Coronation

The next day I watched as the final preparations were completed. The summoned soldiers, made entirely of mana, needed no food and no rest, making the preparations incredibly fast. I'm glad that at least the women understood fashion and decorations, or else this would have been a disaster. Knowing the men, they probably would have just put weapon racks everywhere and called it art.

I turned my attention to three items that I had crafted and placed on a velvet stand. It was a pair of crowns and a tiara.

On the left was a crown for Merida. It was a rustic yet regal piece. Nestled within the metal were numerous uncut gemstones, including vibrant green emeralds and deep red rubies of varying sizes. The raw, unpolished look of the gems added to its rugged beauty. It had red tassels hanging from the sides, a final touch of detail that perfectly suited her.

The crown on the right was my own, a rugged, masculine piece of Viking craftsmanship, made from tarnished silver and bronze. The design was rich with intricate Norse knotwork patterns that wove together stylized dragon heads and wolf motifs.

In the middle was the tiara for Moon. It had a celestial theme, crafted from what appeared to be polished silver. The centerpiece was a large crescent moon with intricate etchings on its surface to resemble craters. An iridescent opal was set in the center of the moon, giving it a soft, glowing appearance. On either side of the moon were intricately sculpted wolf heads, shown howling toward the center. Their eyes glowed with an ethereal blue light, and the tiara's band was decorated with delicate swirling filigree, embedded with small, scattered diamonds and opals that looked like stars.

I had personally made the crowns, and it didn't take me long because of my maxed-out skills. I spent most of my time thinking and sketching ideas, and the final product brought me a great deal of joy.

Now, the only thing left was to change my appearance. I entered a large, glowing booth that Diastasi had summoned.

"Alright, I'm ready," I said.

"Got it," Diastasi replied.

Suddenly, the booth started glowing as light surrounded me. When the light cleared, I looked at myself. It was a very tailored and sleek fit. The main black garment, which resembled a tunic or short coat, was closely fitted to my body, emphasizing my tall and powerful frame. It was cinched at the waist with a decorated belt. The black pants were a similar, close-fitting style, creating a sharp, modern silhouette. The most dramatic element was the full-length cape, which flowed freely from my shoulders. The red lining was visible as it draped open, and it trailed elegantly behind me, giving the outfit a regal and sweeping appearance.

I nodded to myself as I left the booth. I then took out a small mirror and looked at my face. My hair no longer flowed wild like it used to, and my facial hair had been trimmed, showing more of my face. I looked a lot like the man I had once been, but with the added maturity and power of a conqueror.

Looking at the mirror I already saw similarities to my mother. Im just glad that i didnt shave the whole thing or else i probably would have looked like a copy of my mother.

I put the mirror away as I sensed someone getting closer.

"My lord, its starting." a messenger said from outside the tent.

I turned and walked out of the tent and proudly showed the world my new outfit. The messenger froze as he looked at my appearance.

"Lead the way" I commanded.

He came back to his senses, his eyes widening in comprehension, and nodded, leading the way. Soon enough, we reached a large clearing. Yesterday, when decorating, the women had come upon a problem. The terrain in the seven deserts did not suit the wedding, and upon hearing this, I had changed the wedding location to the Kingdom of DunBroch. I didn't choose Berk because the island wouldn't have been large enough to accommodate everyone.

The clearing was breathtakingly decorated. Flower stands, tables, and chairs were arranged with an artistic flair. A huge carpet led to the wedding altar, where the officiate was waiting. Thousands of people sat, waiting for the ceremony to begin. Of course, all these people were the important figures from each tribe, kingdom, or group. As for the rest of the populace, Diastasi said she would handle it, which meant she was using her power to create visions of the wedding above every one of my territories, allowing everyone to witness the event.

The messenger moved aside and gestured for me to go. I walked forward, a slow, deliberate pace, as the thousands of people watched me cross the carpet. My father and mother looked incredibly proud, while Hiccup looked a little jealous. I smirked; I knew he wanted to get married as well, but he had been preoccupied with the task I had given him. Of course, when he found out that I had already revived Merida and planned to marry her the next day, he grew quite jealous, as he also planned to marry Astrid. I saw all my generals as they greeted me with nods of respect. Finally, I reached the altar, where I stood and waited for Merida.

Five minutes later, Merida appeared. My eyes widened as I looked at her, truly seeing her for the first time in years. Her dress was a deep emerald green, like rich velvet, with a fitted bodice and a full, flowing skirt. The sleeves were long and slightly puffed, and the neckline was a classic square shape. Intricate gold and bronze embroidery in Celtic knot patterns adorned the hem and bodice. A dark tartan sash was draped across her chest, fastened with a magnificent silver brooch shaped like a bear. Behind her was Moon in a cute silver dress that complemented her silver hair. She was carrying a basket of flowers, and as she followed Merida, she threw the flowers with gleeful abandon.

As Merida reached the altar, her eyes never leaving mine, a silent conversation passing between us. She was here. She was real. Beside her, Moon walked, a vision of childlike innocence in a silver dress, her small hand clutching a red cushion that held the rings. As Merida finally stood before me, we grabbed each other's hands, her touch warm and solid, a feeling I thought I had lost forever.

"Friends, family, and others," the officiate began, his voice resonating with a quiet awe. "Thank you all for coming on this beautiful occasion to celebrate the marriage of Princess Merida and Chief Erik. Their journey to this point has been proof that love will prevail even at impossible odds. Even death, in its finality, could not stop their love." A collective murmur of agreement swept through the audience, a shared recognition of the miracle unfolding before them.

"Princess Merida, do you take Chief Erik to be your lawfully wedded partner, to have and to hold, from this day forward, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better or for worse, and to love and cherish them for as long as you both shall live?"

Tears welled in her eyes, a small, genuine smile on her lips. "I do," she answered, her voice thick with emotion.

"Chief Erik, do you take Princess Merida to be your lawfully wedded partner, to have and to hold, from this day forward, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better or for worse, and to love and cherish them for as long as you both shall live?"

"I do," I answered, my own voice trembling slightly.

"Now, please turn to one another and share the promises you have written in your hearts. Princess Merida, please share your vows."

Merida squeezed my hands, a silent message of strength. "I, Merida, take you, Erik, to be my wedded husband. To have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until death do us part." Her last words hung in the air, a profound declaration that held the weight of all we had endured.

I felt my heart pounding in my chest as I met her gaze, every memory of our time together flashing before my eyes. My voice was a little shaky, but filled with a conviction that had only ever been reserved for war.

"My dearest Merida," I began, my eyes glistening. "I remember the day we met like it was yesterday. You walked into my life and, without even trying, made everything better. You've taught me what it means to be truly loved and to be a partner. Today, I promise to always be your safe harbor, to cheer you on in all of your dreams, and to always remind you of how incredible you are. My love for you is not just a feeling; it's a choice I make every single day. I choose you, and I will keep choosing you for all of our days to come."

Moon, her face alight with an earnest joy, walked towards us, holding the red cushion. The officiate's voice was a soft whisper as he guided us through the ring exchange. "With this ring, I thee wed. I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and commitment."

Merida, her hands shaking slightly, placed the cold, silver ring on my finger, her words a soft promise. I followed suit, the ring for her feeling impossibly heavy with all my hopes and fears.

"By the power vested in me by the Gods and by the love you have for each other, I now pronounce you partners for life. You may now seal your marriage with a kiss."

I leaned in, and as our lips met, the world faded away. It wasn't just a kiss; it was a release, a moment of profound peace and joy after years of unimaginable pain.

Within moments, loud cheers erupted, a thunderous roar of shared celebration. My father's booming voice rose above it all, a sound of pure, unadulterated happiness. "That's my boy!" he shouted, his voice thick with tears, as he clapped his hands together in a mighty cheer.

Merida and I smiled at each other, leaving the altar hand-in-hand for a table prepared just for us. Moon was already there, devouring the food like a rabid animal. We joined in, though we ate with more restraint.

"Erik, since you've conquered so much land, I want to explore them," Merida said excitedly.

"Alright," I replied, a small smile on my face. "But some guards will be assigned to you." She nodded, her excitement palpable.

A few hours later, the wedding party ended. The second celebration began: the coronation. I stood. "Alright everyone, now the second phase will begin," I spoke, my voice ringing with authority. They all nodded and stood, gathering into a large group.

I then teleported everyone to a huge island I had conquered, one that I had previously seen as a barren wasteland. I had left hundreds of my summoned soldiers to refertilize the soil as I continued my conquests. Since getting my teleportation skill, I'd checked all the islands and kingdoms I'd conquered, and coming back upon this island, I was amazed.

The island was vast and beautiful, filled with lush, green forests that gave way to soaring mountains. At its heart stood a massive city, a beacon of light and power that seemed to touch the sky itself. I had bought a huge castle from the system shop, one that could fit over 50,000 people. I decided to make this my new base of operations.

We all entered, with thousands following me. They were amazed at the sheer scale of it all. "Son, how did you make this?" my father asked, his voice filled with shock.

I coughed. "Magic," I replied. He nodded like it explained everything.

Among the crowd, the guests whispered to each other in awe. "Gods above... look at this place," Hiccup muttered to Astrid, his eyes wide. "He just… made it?"

Astrid, her jaw slightly agape, shook her head. "I don't even know anymore, Hiccup. This is beyond anything we've ever seen."

Gobber, standing with my mother, bellowed, "By Thor's hammer! I've seen some sights in my day, but this takes the whole meat pie!"

Soon, we reached the great hall where the coronation would be held. It took longer than I thought it would. I had contemplated who would crown me and Merida when Queen Elinor came to mind. When I told her about it, she smiled and said she would be honored.

Merida, Moon, and I kept walking forward. There were two rows of armored men, all summoned by me, holding spears high as we walked through. All of them had stats over 50. As we continued walking, the three thrones I had made came into view. They were three in total, and though it took me a while to make them, it was worth it. We sat down, and I watched the audience.

Slowly, Queen Elinor came walking through, with Jin following right behind her, holding a red cushion that held the crowns and tiara. As she stood in front of us, she spoke. "Speak thy oaths."

I nodded. "I promise to govern my realm with law and virtue. Let all my decisions be fair and only for the betterment of the people."

Merida spoke next. "I promise to serve the people and make them happy. I shall govern with the customs and laws made by my husband."

Moon, her voice clear and full of conviction, added her own oath. "I promise to feed everyone and never let anyone go hungry. And I promise to make everyday an adventure for everyone." A wave of smiles swept through the audience at her heartfelt declaration.

Queen Elinor, with an air of solemn grace, slowly turned and picked up the largest of the crowns. She walked toward me and placed the weighty circlet on my head. A moment later, she did the same for Merida, placing the intricate crown upon her flowing hair, and then for Moon, gently settling the beautiful tiara on her head. After, she bowed and walked back to her spot among the guests.

I knew this was my cue. I stood, letting the silence hang heavy and expectant in the air. I looked out at the thousands gathered before me, my gaze sweeping over the faces of my family, my generals, and all those who had followed me. I spoke with the most powerful and authoritative voice I could muster, a voice that carried the weight of a new empire.

"Our new kingdom shall be named Novus, signifying that this kingdom is the first of its kind. And this island in which we stand will be named Auroria, signifying that it is the first of its kind."

As I sat down, a thunderous cheer erupted, a wave of sound that shook the very foundations of the hall.

"Novus... a new beginning," Hiccup whispered to Astrid, a look of profound awe on his face. "He's not just conquering; he's building something entirely new."

Astrid nodded, her eyes fixed on me. "And Auroria, the dawn. It's a new age, a new light. He knows what he's doing."

My father bellowed, a mighty laugh rumbling through the hall. "Ha! Novus! Much better than 'Erikland' like those idiots suggested." My mother, a proud smile on her face, just squeezed his arm in agreement.

"First of its kind, huh?" Gobber said to Spitelout, shaking his head in amazement. "Can't argue with that. Makes a man feel like he's part of history in the making."

Viggo, ever the strategist, simply nodded to himself, a thoughtful expression on his face. He understood the power of the names—they weren't just titles, but a statement of purpose and a promise of a new future for all who lived under my rule.

Those who watched through the projections across my vast territory smiled and rejoiced, filled with hope for a new and better future.
